My Yuriko deck has gone through all the motions, budget, focused and I finally got her about as optimized as I can and she is HANDS DOWN my favorite commander to play.
Rules thing to remember: if you use Commander Ninjutsu, you don't cast Yuriko - which means, that it cheats commander tax. If you only use Commander Ninjutsu and don't cast Yuriko for her normal cost, the Commander Ninjutsu still costs UB, and casting her normally costs only 1UB. Also Ninjutsu is a very sneaky ability. If you attack with a creature and Yuriko, and somebody casts removal spell on Yuriko, you can still use Ninjutsu during this combat and connect with Yuriko. You can also Ninjutsu AFTER combat damage if you want, because of end of combat phase.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it that you can only ninjutsu from hand/command zone? The world of MTG is so vast and I am still learning and your response will be of great help!

Have not read all the comments but have you looked at Cunning Evasion? It seems tailor made for ninjas. A one and a blue for an enchantment that states “Whenever a creature you control is blocked, you may return it to its owner’s hand.” It means that you need to block every attacker or something is getting through and even blocking your creatures won’t necessarily kill your creatures.
Okay but dj you missing the seceret ninja technique of "throne of the god pharaoh" it's really good early dmg that stacks ups and chains well with the mass yuriko triggers and your opponents won't deal with it until it's too late. Hidden op tech ;))

So glad I picked up the Planechase Anthology pack when my LGS had it on sale. I initially bought it for the planes (EDH with planechase is awesome), but when Yuriko came out, I immediately built a Ninja deck around her. Then Core 2019 and Modern Horizons added more Ninja's. Now, the deck is one of the most fun ones I have. Even if Yuriko gets stolen (which really is the only way she can get 'lost'), I have a lot of Boomerang-style cards that'll simply return her to her rightful owner. And yeah, doing all these kinds of cool tricks during combat is so powerful. And fun :-)
Honestly, I would love to see gameplay videos to decks like this. It sounds awesome, but I have a hard time imagining how it would play. But I understand that Commander gameplay is very hard to shoot and especially present in a watchable way.

Yuriko is so flavorful and good! Sometimes she's even too oppressive. To avoid this I tried to focus on each player top library manipulation, with tuck effects like Commit and Submerge and things like Gonti and Thief of Sanity to clear the top off those goodies. So much fun!
I run a Yuriko Extra Turns deck, siren stormtamer, Invisible Stalker, baleful strix, nether traitor (may be a bit over budget) are all cards you should consider including.
You should do a Jalira deck tech. It feels right up your alley, taking a slightly different approach to the Big Blue Fatties strategy that Braids uses(though, admittedly not as interactive). I’m building one with Braids in the 99 and as an option to swap with Jalira when I want due to the similarities in the style of the decks.
Built a Yuriko deck a month ago in my casual group where we are pretty on about what power levels we are playing at each game. Everyone agreed that Yuriko is inherently a power level 7 because of always only costing 2 mana, along with card draw and life loss.
This is pretty good timing for me. I'm testing out an Isshai/Ikra Shidiqi deck that uses a similar strategy (play unblockable creatures, buff them with anthems, get a bunch of Attack/Combat Damage Triggers). I'll give Yuriko a try and see how she handles.
Awesome video! I build a budget Yuriko list myself, but never got to buy it cause the powerlevel of my casual edh groups is so low, that this feels kinda too consistent for it *feelsbad*
Hey DJ, huge fan. I've been wanting to try and build Yisan, the Wanderer Bard in a fun, toolboxy way that doesn't go cedh at all. I'm struggling to come up with interesting interactions in monogreen that are cool but no overpowered. If it seems like a good idea, I'd love to see a video with your thoughts. Maybe you could do a whole thing about taking cedh commanders and building them in more fun ways? Anyway, thanks for the content
I built a deck similar to this but for the high cmc cards i used some eldralzi allowing me to have annihilator and the deck as well as I can get the triggers off yuriko
I had a lot of luck with land based creatures in Yuriko, you get to ninjitsu after a board wipe, also no rags to riches. Also emerge is a solid option, elder deep fiend is a great way to clear out blockers
Baneful Omen ends game so much faster, especially when I do top deck manipulation. So much so I'm already the top priority in my playgroup lol. Such a fun deck to play
Some cards I plan to put into my yuriko deck are sai of the shinobi, stormrider rig, and ronin warclub. If you plan flash in a ninja might as well have stuff to make them a bit stronger.
I run Dauthi Embrace in mine to give my creatures shadow to help them get in if I don't have the cards to help my ninjas get through. Also its a good political tool since it gives any creature shadow.
If you can find the subjective reality commander pre con for a good price, pick it up! Lots of good inclusions for this deck including Yuriko herself of course
i played draco in my jodah deck purely so i could one day reveal it off of twilight prophet or sorin grim nemesis, and it has happened exactly once :P and it was the absolute best

I was going to build a deck with this Commander using tetsuko other Rogues and assassins I like this one since I already have some of the cards but I don't get the actual ninjutsu deal. I'm still kind of new could you kind of them or somebody that reads this explain that to me
i just want to throw out, if you can find a copy of the ninja planechase deck, i believe it comes with a copy of every ninja up to sakashima's student (which came out in that deck if i'm not mistaken) I don't know how much the deck is now, but I picked it up for 10 or 15 bucks and that felt very much worth it to me to get at least one of each ninja, plus there are some other nice things in there too. EDIT: holy fk... i guess nevermind. I didn't realize the price of the deck had gone up so much... 50-100$??? O.o... well i guess i got lucky getting it when i did.
Hey DJ! Why not add Skull Storm to this deck? It deals 9 damage with Yuriko's ability, and will definitely be the best card in the deck, since we're only paying 2 to cast her from the command zone! And she'll get killed tons of times. At least when I play with my version of her deck, she hardly gets to stay on the battlefield... There were never a game in which I had Skull Storm cast, that I didn't win! And, it's a flavour win as well, since the 2 cards came in the same deck!

Hey guys, I have a combo for Serra oathbreaker. Tell me your thoughts! Using the new bishop from core set 2020, I devised a combo using Phyrexian alter, divine visitation, and the new bishop (note I’m using this for Serra oathbreaker): Use Serra’s minus and create an angel with the bishop in play, gaining you four life. Then, sacrifice it to the alert to gain a mana. That will trigger the bishop and give you a 1/1. But, because of divine visitation, it becomes a 4/4 angel. Repeat the process for infinite mana and life. Tell me your thought on this stupid combo!
@@toomanyowlz I do like Brought Back. But I feel that it might have limited use as a signature spell, because it can't rescue your Oathbreaker. Enlightened Tutor might be a better choice since it can find two of your combo pieces. It is a bit pricey at about $25 though. Well of Dreams might be worth playing too. Because once you get infinite life/mana you can draw your entire deck.

My friend got this deck and it is so annoying. Here is my unkillable commander who costs 2 mana, gets around Commander tax, has some kind of haste and drains the table for 10 on turn 2. When you're starting to fight back in turn 4-6 he chaines some extra turn spells together and finishes of the table.
Only 3 mana rocks and 37 lands? Sound a little low. Also I would suggest Halimar Depths as a land (look at top 3 and rearrange them). Cool deck though. Im gonna remake my Aminatou deck to this since I have most of the cards :). Maybe Aminatou herself could fit in the deck actually... That plus 1 ability might actually be handy in this deck.

Build this Deck with some Mill-effects like Sphinx Tutoleg and some Control Stuff and push it to the Limit. It is not a Budget anymore... because....na it's Yuriko.
Force of will would be a great include if you have one laying around or if you just want to add more money to it Counterspell a spell for free is always great plus it has a decently large Mana cost

I'd actually built ashiok oathbreaker ninjas and was thinking of expanding it into commander, this is helpful I hadn't thought about split cards
SMOKE SHROUD - Damn fine card for this deck, it'll attach to the ninja you ninjitsu in and give it evasion for the next turn.
Cunning Evasion is another good MH1 enchantment that helps save your Ninjas if you need to.
Ninjutsu is cool because it's a combat-based mechanic that _isn't_ Boros. You're encouraged to attack in UB!

I am also running undercity plague and midnight recovery in this build. Having tons of evasive helps cypher a lot

Slightly offtopic, but consider running Reap, is probably one of the strongest and most underrated green cards for EDH

So, what would you add to replace curtains' call and coveted peacock? I can't seem to find a copy of either of those for MTGO.
Liturgy of blood for Curtain's Call maybe? Only hits one creature, but it's 5cmc and you get 3 black mana back.
