    The editing didn’t do Tommy any favors, but neither did Tommy’s comment. He seemed to go above and beyond to downplay everything that happened on that plane and agreed to go on the show. It doesn’t take a genius to know “dark side of the ring” is going to tell stories of heinous shit, not fun stories of boys being boys and having fun.

    • @jamesmiller5331
      @jamesmiller5331 3 года назад +23

      Everybody celebrated this type of behavior from Ric Flair until they saw an old woman cry about it on a TV show and then everyone turns into 🦸‍♀️ Super Simp
      If you heard all of the stories about him over the years and you just assumed that 100% of the women were consensual, I don't know what to tell you. You're just naive.
      Tommy Dreamer comes from a time where this was a fraternity and the boys always had the boys back. Dreamer understands that Ric Flair doesn't need to push himself on anyone because there is a ready and willing right around the corner no matter where he is. This was a gag. It was an inappropriate gag by a dude that grew up in the Wild Wild West of the pro wrestling genre.
      If you went back and followed any of those guys for a whole 24 hours in the 1970s you would come back to 2021 ready to "cancel" everybody. Go after Ric if you think it makes you look like the *most* virtuous but leave Tommy Dreamer alone.

      @@Evl_1 Again, taking Vice and video editing out of this. What were Tommy’s expectations giving an interview on “The Plane ride from hell” on “Dark Side of the Ring?” He wasn’t threatened to give an interview, he elected to do this. Why would he think this is a hit piece on the stewardess and not on the wrestlers? What did he expect? They would cut his whole interview out of the episode? It’s pretty obvious if you make an ass of yourself in front of a camera for a television show they are going to air it.

      That's not necessarily true they cancelled Tommy Dreamer because of the way they edited that video we have no idea what questions he was asked and what he knew the girl said or anyting but it was strong together to make him look worse. Even at the end of the day with him saying what he said he deserves to lose all his money and no longer work? Not to mention the conflicting reports over the years of that story. I mean we saw an episode of a show that is meant to be dramatic and now we all know exactly what happened on that plane? That's literally cancel culture especially the Tommy Dreamer portion.

He said that in the 80's, all of the women that came to the shows were willing participants, but things changed by the late 90's, and wrestlers were encountering a lot of people that weren't smart to the business. As a result, they couldn't get away with the things that they did in the 80's. He told several stories of seeing Ric Flair's helicopter, and said it was often done at the request of the women who were present. Yeah but they're known to be highly dramatic and they're not a beacon of journalistic integrity. I mean just the way that they cut up the video and edited it shows they were trying to put their own little spin on it. They basically made it so Tommy Dreamer looks like he's talking to that girl and telling her shut up and that's not what it was. I'm sure there's things they blew way out of proportion and they weren't on the plane so that was just one depiction. On top of that this was already settled when the lady said she'll take money instead of punishing her abuser supposedly? I think we can all say we actually don't know exactly what happened

I find it hard to believe, regardless of what the wrestling culture was, that wrestlers assumed EVERY woman they came across wanted to see ric flairs dick. She wasn't a groupie in a hotel room she was a flight attendant at her job. On the otherhand she did take a payoff it that should have been the end of the litigation on the matter. In that respect I understand tommy dreamers view.

    For what it's worth, Flair said in an interview years ago that the stewardesses were also drinking and everyone at the time was having a good time. It wasn't until later on they started to view the situation differently for financial gain. I've been to a lot of bars. When people get super drunk, shit tends to get a bit crazy. Sort of comes with the territory. It's called drunken behavior, people aren't in their right state of minds. This generation of wrestling fans just can't relate, they suck soy lattes and pop 11 anti depressants a day. I'm not defending Flair's actions, just saying. He was hammered. It's not an excuse, but an explanation for something that took place during a different day and age. Regardless, this women came off like a total actor to me during the episode. She was fine with taking the payoff but now suddenly wants her me too moment "Flair was inebriated on the flight and flashed me his cock look at me!!" which is probably why Dreamer had the attitude he did.

I'll take the current crop of wrestlers nowadays NOT making jackasses of themselves over the bullies and idiots from that era any day. Dreamer has daughters, if Flair flopped his dick out in front of one of them and told them to touch it I 100 percent guarantee we wouldn't be having this back and forth discussion about the issue.
