I was supposed to start reviewing for the board exams this year, but then the pandemic happened. SO my mom told me to look for reviewers online but I couldnt concentrate because I can hear my thoughts and its jumping from one thought to another. I stumbled upon this channel and it was a blessing. With these lectures, I can easily imagine myself in a classroom setting. I am more focused and I cannot hear random thoughts in my head. This is amazing! Thank you so much!!
Hello there Congratulations for passing the exam that's great news 🌸 I wanted to ask about the sources you used to study from? I'am just starting and I'am wondering what books to buy or study from?
I can hear the enthusiasm of Dr. Ryan in this video! Great video that summarizes everything we need to know in simple language and really good pictures. I also appreciate that Dr. Ryan connects and reminds us that the information is not just to pass the exam but also good to know and apply clinically. Thank you very much for all you do and making these amazing learning content :)
Your videos are way better than other's...I dnt like to read books, I like lectures & if they are explained like you do, I really dnt need to read I can remember ...thank you so much for explaining so beautifully & taking so much effort .... thank you 😊
Thanks!! I'm studying dentistry and i try to learn this stuff like global education and i wondered how it goes in US and in world; and it also helps my lessons in my university. Good job!
Hi Dr Ryan. You are like an angel like God for me. I have nothing apart from Thank you to you. You have saved my life I passed my part 2 finally after lot of attempts just Bcz of only you. You have no idea how much you are helping others with your knowledge. God bless you all the success and good luck in life 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wow, I am so happy to receive this message from you! Congratulations on your pass, Jaya ☺️ I am glad this channel has been a blessing to you.. God bless you 🙏🏼
I want to thank you for all your amazing videos. I'm studying for the AFK, one of the Canadian Exams for International Dentists, and all your material is extraordinarily complete and clear. Please if possible for you to make a series with deep explanation and pictures about ICCMS Guide for Caries Management. And another series only with all dental materials. Thanks again.
32:05 From what I understand about the ecological plaque hypothesis, it suggests that if everything is in balance - like the right pH levels, saliva and tooth surfaces saturated - specific bacteria won't cause disease. So, when considering caries, wouldn't it make sense to accept the ecological plaque hypothesis? or is it completely wrong? And thank you so much! Everything makes more sense after watching these videos.
16:40 decreasing enamel solubility decreases critical pH? Isn't lowering critical pH causes demineralization according to the Stephen curve? BTW, you are a globally acclaimed dental educator on RUclips. Great work!
Good question! Fluoride decreases the solubility of enamel, so the mineral is less likely to dissolve in acidic conditions. Looking at the Stephan curve, it lowers the critical pH of enamel from about 5.5 to 4.5. This means that instead of dissolving at a pH of 5.5 (fairly acidic) it doesn't start dissolving until a pH of 4.5 (a bit more acidic). Does that make sense?
There is a query that I made researches about but couldn’t find answer of. The problem is that why tooth cavities are getting black or brown. In fact the main deal here is biochemical mechanism of discoloration of tooth.
Dr Ryan thanks for your videos. Isn’t the tail portion of enamel rods supposed to be more resistant to decay as it is organic as well has a rod sheath around that region. Please clarify this as I found a resource saying so as well.
Sir i wanted to ask question that in progress of lesion after enamel demineralization how dentine demineralization occured when there is no enamel cavitation , how bacteria reached dentine?
When ion(H+) pulled ion(PO4) and ion(Ca) we call Demineralization. But why ion(F) replace (OH) called Remineralization? It should be the replacement of ion(PO4) or (Ca) from saliva to tooth called Remineralization. and how can ion(F) replace (OH)? I appreciate your work dr
A similarly charged ion replaces the ion that leaves. As fluoride and hydroxyl are both singly negatively charged it makes more sense for F to replace OH.
Hi there! Thank you very much for your videos! Would you mind letting me know why didi you use that image fro the hydroxiapatite? I find it confusing as I counted every atom and the figures do not add up. Thank you!

Hello. I am fascinated by your detailed illustrations!!! However, i have misunderstanding of Le Chatelier's principle in the etiology of tooth decay. Can you explain it for the sake for full comprehension of caries?

Which of the following have the most effect on caries formation
1 pH saliva
2 Diet
3 Specific bacteria
4 Time
thank you Dr!!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
I have a question why when caries reach DEJ it spreads laterally? I searched but I couldn’t find the answer to it ..
It spreads out faster because the dentin layer is a lot more porous than the enamel layer.
Hey thanks for the video! What's the name of the principle that allows the equation to be in balance? I can't hear the name and want to Google it
Le Chatlier’s Principle!
Which primary tooth is most susceptible to caries??? @ Dr Ryan

So can we blame caries MAINLY on PH? Thank you!
I would blame caries mostly on bacteria, because acid damage without bacteria is called erosion not caries 😊
