Nice runs man considering all the factors, great job! How's the JB4 been? I was thinking of getting one, but maybe having it more on a little bit more conservative side. Keep it up with the vids!
Thanks man! The JB4 has been amazing, I did have to do some upgrades with it such as hpfp and plugs but other than that it’s great. Map 2 is definitely a good map to daily drive, conservative but definitely gives you a consistent 20+ psi. The only downside to JB4 for me is the stupid octane learning an ECU tune gets rid of that.
@@RobTheNthusiast Oh nice! Yeah I have the HPFP and upgraded plugs, been running the aFe scorcher piggy back tune but I hear JB4 has a little bit more robust options. Hah man tell me about it, hard to octane learn out here with bumper to bumper traffic. Are you hitting 20+ PSI without the octane learning?
@@CaliforniaKonaN yeah Idk too much about the AFE scorcher but I can definitely vouch for JB4, the data logging is definitely a big plus for me. But yeah the octane learning is difficult, with map 2 I believe you can still reach 21 psi without octane learning. I know map 3 hits 23-24 psi consistently
@KonaNthusiast I'm up to 46k on mine now! Have you had any issues other than injectors etc? I was planning on trading mine this year before I hit 60k, but it would be nice to keep until 100k. Been great, absolutely love this car. Tons of fun. Almost tempted to just trade for another KN with lower miles and save 20-30k vs everything else I'm looking at. Keep up the videos!!!
@@apexcobra.official only other issue I’ve had is axles have gone bad twice. But that’s it. I say definitely trade for a lower mileage Kona or Elantra N if you can. These are great cars and I honestly can’t think of too many others cars out there that can do it all like our cars
How are you doing burnouts. I tried over the weekend at the track and all it did was bog out and not make power, and I didnt want to stab the gas and waste my launch control. I tried with brake fully on and I tried a slight roll into ebraking
@@KameronIronstand-ol3lf so what I do is turn traction and stability off, then pull the e brake and let the boost build up then I floor the gas as I release the e brake, don’t do a burnout for too long or it’ll deactivate launch control
@ ehh looks are objective. I feel that the front end and back end of the Kona looks better but the overall combined design of the Elantra N is the best
Turn off traction and stability, Hold the E brake and let the boost build then release the e brake, before you race make sure to turn your traction back on haha
@@RobTheNthusiastI found that keeping the traction control completely off was way easier on the car, no wheel hop, minimal spin, smooth into 2nd, went from a 13.7-13.9 to a 13.5 just by turning it off. I hadn’t realized it was still on in N mode and I had done quite a few passes, always just mad hop off the line and into 2nd, didn’t like how hard it was jamming
@@KameronIronstand-ol3lf nice! So do you have an upgraded motor mount? I use to turn off traction control when I had the stock mount but now that I have that upgraded, I just keep traction on
For drag racing , you need a softer tire , not a harder tire😉
I still haven't been able to get launch control to work in mine.
@@mulletsquirrel have you gone to the dealer yet? I know some folks had to get an update to fix this
You can adjust the p s I a little bit but the sidewall is not designed to wrinkle and give you a great hook
That makes sense, normally softer tires are better for the drag strip but the thicker sidewall definitely explains the issue then.
@@RobTheNthusiast Did you go to a different size
@@klasseact6663 nah, the sidewall is the same as stock. Only thing I changed was the tire width to 245s
@KonaNthusiast you added a tad more height too but that's not really too big of a deal🤷♂️

its Onyx

Second run was really good against the Corvette.
Thanks, I was definitely impressed with that run

Why have a Kona N when you can buy an Elantra N that's quicker and faster?
@@davothegreat9990 the Elantra N is definitely a little bit faster on the top end but as far as daily driving, they seem the same to me
@RobTheNthusiast ok. Just thought for drag racing the Elantra would be the better car. Interesting car though.
