    I’ve listened to countless reactions from you and enjoy them a lot, but this one was special! Thank you So Much for sharing this with us and confirming that Steve Perry isn’t just an incredibly talented artist, but also a warm and caring person! I came across this article that describes just how special his voice was…Steve Perry has the range of a high tenor and solid alto and is considered a countertenor. He is a rare tenor altino, a rare form of countertenor, a voice that many consider incomparable. His voice is very recognizable and a longtime friend of Perry's, Jon Bon Jovi, gave him the nickname, "The Voice."” Bon Jovi gave him the moniker in 1989 and it stuck with him for over 20 years.”

    Jonathan Cain admitted in an interview that the worked Steve too hard. That he needed more time off between tours to allow his vocal cords to rest. Jonathan’s fingers or Neal’s fingers weren’t in any danger of being used up. But a singer gets one callous on his vocal cord his voice will change and not come back. Steve gave Journey everything he had and they didn’t appreciate that Steve was the magic that took the band to new heights. His voice is once in a generation!! They took and took from him and then wouldn’t wait for him to heal. I believe it broke his heart because as you can tell from this interview he is a very unique and gentle soul. ❤

    Being in a band is like living in an extremely dysfunctional family. Why it's very rare that a band keeps its original line up for a long time. Colin Haye (Men at Work a band you should react to) said that you go from driving across the country in a beat-up band having the time of your life. Then you hit it big, and everyone takes their own limo to the gig with yes men in your ear telling you how it's all about you and you start to resent your once best friend.

    Often heard "music is the soundtrack of your life." In the decades before there were cell phones, internet, streaming platforms, and the other gazillion distractions of technology, you met with your friends at the river and listened to music, you drove around town listening to the radio with your friends, date, etc. You walked to your best friend's house and hung out listening to music. Music was HUGE and it was the soundtrack of your life: this song was on when I did this, this song was playing when I did that. We recall events in our lives associated with songs. So when you listen to someone other than Steve Perry sing a Journey song: it's someone else's soundtrack. It's not my soundtrack. Speaking only for myself: When I want to reminisce, I want to hear MY soundtrack. No disrespect to the young man that filled Steve's shoes: He's just not Steve or my soundtrack. And that old saying my Grandma used to tell me countless times rings true: You are special because you are the only 1 exactly like you. That's Steve too.

    But… Song-wise- You’ll love the song, “ Missing You” from Steve’s solo album “For The Love Of Strange Medicine”. It is gorgeous!!! It’s about Steve missing Sherrie. Journey first broke up in 1987 but reunited in 1996 with the original lineup from their initial success. They even recorded an album and had a Grammy nominated song 'When You Love A Woman' but just as they were to tour to promote the album, Perry needed an emergency surgery. According to Perry, the rest of the group wanted to take a vote whether or not Perry should get the surgery, Perry took an absence from the group regardless. Rather than waiting on Perry, Journey decided to move on without him. Perry hasnt been welcomed back to the group since, rather than bringing Perry back the group decided to hire vocalists that sound like Perry.

      They found the singer with them now on UTube and he's from the Philippines. Oprah had them on her show after they made the switch. Of course she didn't ask Why they had a new singer. They probably wouldn't have told the truth anyway. 😢

    The only reason why you got reaction like you did from fans is because two members of Journey found this young man Arnel and he is a great singer and Steve Perry said that in his acceptance speech at the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame but what that band wanted was somebody to mimic sound like Steve Perry sing it in the same key and sound exactly the same and they have done this for years. That’s what has gotten a lot of people angry is because we as fans feel journey would not be a journey. If it had not been for Steve, we understand the group journey was there before, but they were not a requested or popular group
    Steve Perry is the voice of journey, and he will always be in the eyes of the fans
    True fans have continued on with his solo albums, and still follow his career
    He is promising that he had signed recently with a record company and recording, and hopefully a tour will come too
    But we also understand that he is a man of 75 years old and we just enjoy his voice, his lyrics and his composure of music
    That’s why people take it so at heart
    I’m glad that you are watching this. Please watch the second part so you can see the whole interview.
    And just for your understanding, Steve Perry is a very private person and he’s never really stated why, other than his own reasoning just give you an idea how exquisite this man is listen to the speeches at the rock ‘n’ roll, Hall of Fame of all the members and listen to Steve listen to the crowd listen to the fans how they react to different members. That’ll give you an idea.
    Just getting an idea he has several Albums that you need to check into one is called Street talk another one is called for the love of strange medicine and another one is called traces traces is the album that is dedicated to Kellie Nash
    Listen to the whole album it’s beautiful
    Please check those albums out. You will hear Steve and his music the way he likes it in hell you will see throughout the albums, his growth, but also as he ages as time goes.
    Take care and God bless

    We all love Steve Perry but if not for Arnel Pineda Journey would be gone. You may not accept him but he did not seek out Journey they found him. The journey catalog will stress any singer.
    So all the Arnel haters can enjoy the fact that he took a journey band that was done, toast. No one cared about them anymore. And now 17 years later... yes 17! they are doing more business now than ever.

    I'm sure they have some good music out there since Steve's departure, and they had good music before he joined the band, BUT... I stopped listening to Journey when he left. For me personally, it was like when John Bonham died and Led Zeppelin ceased to exist. I've seen Robert Plant as a solo act, and I saw the Page & Plant Tour, even saw Coverdale - Page, and each was good, BUT it never equaled the magic I saw and heard when I saw LED ZEPPELIN at my very first concert! The same for Judas Priest without Rob Halford. When Halford returned to JP, the fire returned. I don't know that Steve Perry will ever resurface with Journey, but if he did... 🔥🚀🎶🎵🎤

    Good morning from Dublin, Miss Britt. Hope you and yours are well. I was hoping if I brought something to your attention it might appear in your reactions. There was a movie back in the 90s, which had an enormous impact on Irish culture, the fact is it was about a mixture of Irish and Black American culture. It was based on a book by a celebrated Irish author Roddy Doyle. The movie is called The Commitments. A young Irish man puts together a band with the backing of an older Soul trumpeter. They are going to sing Irish Soul. He gives them videos of James Brown as Inspiration. The result is a fusion that actually made it into the top 100! This is the song that had the most impact. ruclips.net/video/bH2sSzneWYg/видео.html

    It's always interesting to me when people say, "The only real Journey is with Steve Perry," because Journey released *three full albums* before Steve even joined the band. Their *original* lead vocalist was Gregg Rolie, formerly of Santana. He sang the lead vocals on their first three albums, and he also continued to sing with them after Steve joined the band. I love Journey with Steve Perry, but that is *not* the only "real" Journey.

    • @105rogue

      Do you ever hear any of that music on the radio or any place else? Nope.

    • @christianman73
      @christianman73 9 дней назад +2

      @@105rogue Popularity doesn't determine reality. Why would what gets played on the radio define what "the real Journey" is? It doesn't. The fact is, Journey had a recorded history (three albums) before Steve Perry joined. They had a fanbase before Steve Perry joined. There are fans, to this day, who like the *original* Journey, without Steve, and who *do not like* the more commercial direction that the band took with Steve. Personally, I like all versions of Journey, including the one with Steve, but he doesn't define "the real Journey." If anything, Neal Schon does, because he started the band, years before Steve joined, and Neal has played on all of their albums and tours.

    • @105rogue
      @105rogue 9 дней назад +2

      @@christianman73 You are definitely allowed to like all of Journey. Nothing wrong with that. However, speaking in generalities, people will associate Journey with Perry. They even admitted they brought Perry in because they couldn't find success and needed change. With Perry leading the direction, also admitted by Neal, they found success. That is also why it was Perry that was inducted into the hall of fame. That line up will always be the quintessential line up and most successful. When people think of Journey or sing Journey, it's Perry that they hear in their minds. They are simply a cover band of themselves and they don't even like each other. They fight constantly. I actually feel bad for Arnel. The point is, regardless of who sings for Journey, they will be compared to Perry and they will never be as successful as they were with that line up. That includes Smith and Valory.

    • @christianman73
      @christianman73 9 дней назад

      @@105rogue I would definitely agree that when *most people* think of Journey, they think of the band's music when Steve Perry was their main lead vocalist. (I'm not knocking their work with Steve: I love it!) Part of the reason for that is, generally speaking, many casual fans listen to what is played on the radio, and they buy that music, but they don't dig any deeper to find out if the band had a recorded history *before* finding big commercial success. With Journey, they were already building an audience, with hard-rock and prog-rock fans, before Steve joined in '78, and when he did, Journey actually lost a good bit of its original audience. All was well, commercially, because they gained many more fans than they lost, but the music was very different. The Journey of their first three albums sounds very different than most Perry-era Journey. Early Journey was much more musically complex and adventurous. I like early Journey *and* the very popular albums with Steve too. For most people, they don't even seem to know that the band had three albums before Steve joined. That music may not get played on commercial radio, but it's still worth hearing, to me, and to other people who are into hard rock and prog-rock.
