    Just got my blue Persistence yesterday. What a great knife and bigger in hand than I thought it would be. Perfect EDC size and wicked sharp out of the box.
    Thanks for the review Nutn!!!

    Nutn: I really dig it when you take a new knife and compare it against previously reviewed blades. That really helps highlight the good, the bad, and the value perspective for all of us. Very beneficial. Thanks, amigo!

    yes you can. the clip can mount to any of the four corners so you can go tip up or tip down for either left or right hand use. hope that helps.

    I bought the Tenacious a few weeks ago after watching your review. There doesn't seem to be any problem with the blade retention. I like how solid the blade lock up is. Its a great knife and I highly recommend it.

    had the persistence for 6-8 months, thrashed on it , beat on it with a hammer through 2 pretty thick plastic dowels, broke the tip off , re honed the tip , backed up the relief edge and tightened it up still running like a champ no movement whatsoever . It is still my edc choice and ive had the sog flash II (too much movement ), kershaw skyline ,barrage , blackout and is still my favorite , only downside from china but I dremeled that off lol. thx for the vids awesome reviews.

    you can see why persistance weighs more compared to its size at 13.30. Persistances blade follows deeper into the handle adding for a much more solid handling and durability if you ask me.

    Received both the Tenacious & Persistence from yourcornerstore today and need to say that this online dealer is 100% a great place to get your knives. I have no idea how they did it but the knives were order and received so fast I was simply blown away. The knives are worth what you pay for them though. The cost of the G10 scales alone cost $24 dollars online so your really only paying 7 bucks plus postage. Good backyard EDC knives and nothing more!

    Got one of these recently based on this review. It lives up to everything you say. Very sharp and quick deployment out of the box (unlike the more expensive Endura 4 FFG I got in the same parcel). I like everything about it except the shiny clip, so I painted it black. Much happier with the look now, and it is not so obvious when being carried. Clip is super tight and may be a pocket shreder, time will tell. Thanks for the review.

    My Spyderco Tenacious plain blade arrived today. Very nice. Thanks for the recommendation nutnfancy. Ordered it from Your Corner Store. Good price and very fast shipping. Looks like they're well stocked with 93 left at this time. When I ordered on Saturday it seems like they had about 130 if my memory serves me right .......... which is doubtful.

    Hi--I just got my Persistence in the mail and I actually think they made a few improvements in qualty from the Tenacious on this knife. The jimping is much better on the liner lock release on the the Persistence. It is rounded and smooth on the Tenacious, but sharper here. Also a snappier lock up. The G10 slabs are better quality on Persistence. They have noticably better grip and traction. Blade is all belly. carries lower in the pocket, and a comfy handle.

    I picked up one of each from YCS based on this video. They are both excellent knives for the money.
    In-handle retention on my Tenacious is a bit weak as well. Nothing too bad, but enough to notice.
    There are other subtle differences that suggest the Persistence may be a better knife. The machining is a bit more exact, the G10 appears to be slightly higher quality, & the tang extends further into the handle. So if you can only afford one, the Persistence definitely has it's benefits.

  • @decyus
    @decyus 15 лет назад

    Hey nutnfancy, love your reviews!
    I do love the Spyderco Tenacious, as it is scary sharp and freaking quick. Seeing as I liked the Tenacious that much I was thrilled to hear of a project building on it, the Persistence.
    I was however let down by my sample, the torx screws holding the clip are to shallow to unscrew with three different high-tech torx bits, that means I am stuck with tip-down carry. The deployment is slow, even after oiling the pivot and adjusting the tention.

    its Aug 2012 and I chose the persistence as my edc. My first entry into the knife world. well actually I got an ambitious for my wife too. I'm new to the whole EDC-stuff world - up next, flashlight.
    btw I chose the persistence over the tenacious because I'm planning on getting a large tactical folder, so I'm saving a touch of weight and really distinguishing the POU's even more.

  • @chrissr6640
    @chrissr6640 10 лет назад

    When my Persistence came in, the pivot was too tight and the opening was gritty. I had to take it apart, clean it, and oil it, and it's still not as good as I would like. That's what sucks about ordering knives you can't try them out before you buy. I like the knife, but in my opinion there are better options at this price point. I wish it had a smoother opening because I really wanted to like it. I use it as a work knife. Kershaw Skyline and Ontario Rat 2 are better just to name a few.

    From Spyderco Service Dept Dec 17, 2012:
    "They used to be hex but there was a rolling change and they are now Torx (although I’ve always used a Torx driver even when they were hex) They are Torx 6 and 8. Please note that disassembling the knife will void the warranty but if you are only having trouble keeping them tight using Loctite will keep them from backing out."

    I'm in the uk and got a tenacious a few months ago now, mine came extremely tight, to the point where my thumb wasn't strong enough to open it one handed making flicking it open impossible, i loosened the pivot screw to the point where it still has a solid lock up and now with alot of force i can open it moderately fast.
    The stud that keeps the blade closed is huge, takes alot to open the blade it seems they over compensated when fixing the problem it had.

    Just signing in for a bit of feedback for the Persistence I bought a few months ago. The liner lock is still holding great, and the pivot doesn't have any play either.
    I have a question though, seeing that I use it for cutting up food as well, do you have any recommendations for non-toxic lubricating oils? For the moment I'm using cooking oil, but it gums up after a week or so of use, and I have to clean it and re-oil it rather often.
    Keep up the great reviews! Cheers, Sami

  • @LernToSpeel
    @LernToSpeel 12 лет назад

    Definately. Its a serious value spydie and in my experiences they have slightly better fit and finish as the Byrd line. You can see that especially in the blade grind and the gimping, both are more consistent on the tenacious family than the Byrd lines. Although the Byrd lines are great, The tenacious family is amazing and in my opinion its worth it.

    I think another big hit against stainless handles that isn't mentioned is that they slip out of your pocket easily. They are very slick, and don't grip the pocket well. YMMV, just thought I would throw that in, as nutn mentioned a few disadvantages of SS handles at the start.

    I agree with others, Spyderco probably fixed the retention issue with the tenacious because the one I got about 2 months ago cannot wiggle out by itself.
    Also, I have never once thought the Tenacious was too big. I am not a macho big knife guy, but I would actually be interested in a LARGER tenacious, maybe 3.75 to 4 inches with plain black blade and black pocket clip, I would be willing to pay $40 for it.
