I used to watch your video game covers years ago, always thought your video and audio production was insane. Glad to see you're still active on youtube
Alejandro, one of the best videos ever!!! You have a great way of showing the important things while holding a person's interest in the content. I love the way you go back and forth with the before/after examples, while keeping them very short. Other videos just play too long of an example and I can easily get fatigued by that. Kudos! Great video producer!!! Plus, your genuineness and kind heart come through. You are now my favorite Reaper tutorial go-to source!!! THANK YOU!!!
Alejandro your channel is really good! Starting to dive deeper into Reaper thanks to you. Maybe one thing that I think could help others as well. When you are showing before/after examples, try not to talk between them. This makes for much easier recognition. With delay and reverb here it's easy but in your other videos when you were doing some slight compression or eq it's not so hearable right away and this would help a lot. What I would do is something like: "I'll now switch between the effect on and off and you'll see the indicator on the screen (text, label, red LED on the effect itself,...)". This also makes it great if you want to really check if you hear what the effect is doing by just closing your eyes and really listening only. At least that's how I do it with other videos as well. If you hear someone saying "on/off" or see it on the screen your mind immediately tells you there's something different. But when you have your eyes closed it's way harder to distinguish between the changes, especially if they are subtle. Those are my 2 cents but make no mistake your channel rocks! Keep the videos coming 🙂
just came across your channel recnetly - and i love it. switched 2 years ago to eaper after almost 20 years of n-track studio, and i am still learning every day more about repaer. keep on the good work man!
Amazing job covering these plugins! Can I suggest you try to not stop de audio when A/B comparing? It's easier to hear the difference without any interuption/change :)
Hey Alejandro - I found your 'programming drums in reaper' vid yesterday, and it has made making music in reaper fun again, so a huge thankyou! Good luck with the channel, this is top quality content.
Tukan plugins are such an amazing addition to Reaper's stock plugins, all of that is possible because of JSFX. You should do videos on other JSFX plugins in the future as well, such as all the Saike Plugins.
Cooooool as usual! :D Can You please make a video on how to separate midi drums tracks? Could be dope because I really don't know how to do that in reaper, even for a better mix of the drums themselves
Amazing sounding plugins! I've basically just installed the pack and fiddled a bit with two or three of them, but maaan those reverbs are GOOD. Re: flangers - yep, they are a bugger. I've found that subtlety is vital: low depth, slow speed, keep the mix low.
Gracias!
You can hear a flanger effect on several Hendrix tunes. Also the Red Hot Chili Peppers have used it on drums and guitar. The drum break before the instrumental part in Dani California comes to mind
hey, thanks for all your work. recently I've been diving into the jsfx plugins via reapack and oh my goodness! i even learned about adding the embedded UI on tracks.. that is awesome! just one thing though, how do i make my plugins appear like how you have them on the track at 4:30? i used to use protools some time ago and i miss that option, is more accessible IMO.
Hugely useful stuff! Also love that you're using the free SSD5, I've been using it for most of my covers and originals and it's good to see how others utilize it!
Havent tried the EQ as you demonstrated it. Love the Lexicon 2, its modelled as well as all the other offerings. The tape delay is one of my favorites, it behaves like a tape delay for better or worse. I am scratching my head with the delay machine, placing my taps, again pretty accurate, and easier than Reapers stock delay.
There's also a great Guitar amp simulation called "Guitar Station 2" or something like that. Very quick and easy to get super guitar tones - imagine a lighter version of Amplitube as a JS Plugin.
Yes! It's Mac dark mode, you enable this in Preferences > General> Advanced UI settings. I believe on windows the process is different, you can Google it ~
Nice video -- you got a subscriber out of it! I learned about Sphinx. I get it -- no nose. The 'range' control on the dynamic EQ actually sets the maximum gain reduction -- not the amount, per se. The 'sensitivity' acts like a ratio.
Hi Alejandro, when I add these plugins, my sound gets really distorted. When playing guitar and only using the Lexikan 2 reverb, the sound is really harsh. I play guitar>Fuid Audio SRI-2 interface>reaper on (old) laptop>beyerdynamic headphones. The downloading and using of reaper and plugins is realy fast, so I assume my laptop isn't too old (Intel core i5 / 8RAM / 64x bit). Clean without plugins, the soundd is perfect. Anyone that can help me? Thx, for all the good work, greetz from Belgium
Hello! Ive been using the bx5 m-audio monitors since I was 14 (for over 14 years!). I should really replace them soon but nothing beats really knowing your system. The monitor itself doesn't matter that much, what matters most is knowing how things are supposed to sound in the environment you are in and properly treating it if possible. Once you listen to a lot of music with your monitors, you kinda calibrate your brain with how things are supposed to sound.
@@Reapertips I hear you on that! I use Alesis M1Active 520 monitors and love them! I tried to "upgrade" to a pair of Kali LP6V2 due to the hype but they sounded terrible in comparison to so I returned them.
Hi man, see if you can help, please, I have a notebook with a low screen resolution, 1366/768, do you know if there is a way to increase the resolution of the reaper... or how to make the tracks smaller on the mixer panel, because with the low resolution they are gigantic on the screen... thank you in advance.
Since you have a really good design sense, I would really love if you helped Tukan out with the graphic design of these plugins. As it stands, they look like something created in 1998.
Hey man if you wouldn't mind, I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to automate a plugin in reaper. I've figured out how to do volume, pan, and gain automation, but even after watching Kenny Goia's tutorials, I'm still drawing a blank on how to automate a plugin like you did with blacklight modulation. I've got a vocal part that I want an effect on at just one little part. I could just make a new track, but I'd like to make as few tracks as possible. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks 🙂
I love your snare sound here on SSD5. Is it possible for you to share your eq and plugins settings as you did with kick drum or make a quick video on that?
@@andrew_kay yes! I can make a video about that. BTW those are the same drums I used in the songwriting template I got on my page if you want to get hands on the session 👍
@@Reapertips Oh, thanks for quick answer. I'll definitely check that. Not that my purpose of this comment was advertising or anything - but literally few hours ago I released a song using SSD5 as well (The Wall on my channel, if you care to check that) - and I was comparing the snares :)
Hey Alejandro!!! So glad I've found this channel! Thanks for everything! I have a question, that might not be related to this video, but, how can I turn the interface from white to black? all my windows are white rn and I can't find a way to change it
Cool stuff! Out of curiosity tho, are you planning to stay somewhat active on your AHMusic channel (if that is in fact your other channel) or are you abandoning covers entirely?
