Astore Cared too much about his Job as an Ostian Spy. It's a common lover's Quarrel but it's how most relationships starts: Both parties selfishly wanting one another despite everything. @@ZX-Gear
Heheheeh I love how you’re so touched by their relationship when I didn’t even know about supports until after the game. I had them separated the whole time, ain’t no archers allowed in my damn army! I missed the Secret Shops and the Silver Card too, lots of lil reasons to replay.
finally someone knowledges that marriage is the start of the relation, and i really agree how the newest games being centered in the avatars have made most a part of the cast just be waifus and husbando material
What love about the Avatar pairs is they are mostly not force. The fact that we are free to choose who are favorite couple's are and not force them to be with other characters due to system restrictions is always a major plus for me.
Preexisting relationships get in the way of the dating sim that is modern FE. Wouldn't want some guy online getting butthurt that his Fire Emblem waifu is in a relationship already after all.
I'd love to see more content like this, Mangs. In addition to the usual streams, of course. It's just you're such a damn good scriptwriter and storyteller that it feels like a bit of a waste to only use these skills once in a lifetime.
I think you're absolutely right that we're likely losing out on a lot of potentially great relationships between characters in modern FE games due to every character having to be available for the player avatar to romance. I also think that the lack of married couples may have to do with the experience of the writers since it's challenging to write about something that you haven't experienced and if modern FE writers are either single or haven't been married for very long (to be clear I have no idea if that's the case or not) then they don't have that experience. By contrast anyone who ever had a crush can imagine what confessing one's feelings or even proposing may look like and thus it's a lot easier to write about especially if it happens towards the end of the story where you can just say "they lived happily ever after" and not deal with the consequences. Quan and Ethlyn are another example of characters whose existing relationship enhances the story even if it does technically work against the inheritance mechanics of FE4. I also agree we need more variety when it comes to mother characters even if only because repeating the same type of character over and over makes them less special and more forgettable.
3:38 one detail i'd really like to point out as i deeply appreciated it once i saw it: Louise doesn't put it as in Pent is neglecting her, but that he would commonly worry her by not even eating due to his obscession in his researches from time to time. However, even though Louise is talking first and foremost about her husband's health, Pent himself *does* see the subject as neglection to Louise, putting her in first place. That shows that, even though they're talking about the same thing, they still manage to put one another as their first respective priorities. it's so genuine and healthy, all irl couples should strive to be like that
I think, weirdly, FEH has proven why we need more characters/dynamics like this. Henriette is a caring mother who is also pretty competent running the kingdom, even after losing her partner. The conversations not having so much gameplay burden means interesting dynamics can be explored too, like with Leif and the Askr trio. Releasing further content later and having 'side stories' in stuff like tempest trials or paralogue maps is a great way to delve into characters more, or let them engage in something goofy/fun/unusual for them without having to break the story in half. They can talk about ongoing events without assuming the player's gonna die of confusion or something. I'd be super down for modern fire emblem taking some cues from FEH in this! Especially if they don't wanna go the Pent and Louise route and expand it into gameplay features.
i truly wished they put again a couple where it doesnt die and actually can fight along whit their kids or just accompain the main protagonist like Pent & Louise its sounds like something i will really want to see
"of course, you can just bench the other character. But what monster would possibly do that?" Yeah... Who does that... Right? Jokes aside, Fire Emblem should have more pre-established couples like this, it's cool.
Louise is very well written character. While I am into blondes Lyn is still my favorite waifu in fire emblem 7, yes I know she sucks as a unit but I don't care.
The concept of waifus is ironic in nature, it blows my mind when people take it way to seriously (such as the people that asked you why go for someone already taken, or the inverse, people that stop having a waifu/husbando when getting into a relationship)
Waifus have always existed in history. Every men has their pursuit of an ideal women and our ancestors most likely did not find it but let their desired guide them to concieve us. I just wished more people would use those romanticized feelings for the benefit of others and themselves instead of selfishing divulging on fantastical desires and not what is around them
3:20 That whole event based conversations on is something FE really needs alot more of. Three houses did it a little with exploration, but other games like the Tales of series's skits do it way more and way better. Supports are very restrictive because they are usuallly restricted to only 2 characters and they have to talk about something that's unrelated to current events. Personally I'm hoping for less supports, but more story/current events/lore related conversations. Conversations that bounce between more than 2 characters can also be alot more interesting. Another advantage is that you can then do conversations that build multiple characters at once or expand the characters and the lore at the same time.
The timing of this video seems awfully suspicious... I wonder why you've got wholesome married couples on the mind :^) (disregard this part I just saw the end of the video LOL) But for real, this was a nice video. I can generally agree, though I will say Pent and Louise's relationship is quite interesting. They actually remind me of my aunt and uncle, in fact... the parallels are almost spooky. (including their parenting style RIP, so don't think kids can't turn out like the way you saw in FE6 from parents like them, its not necessarily bad writing... in fact, its more likely than you'd think and could very well be intentional on the writer's part). I think the people who wrote these characters knew people like them in real life, or at least had a strong idea of what those types of people are like, which is part of the reason why its portrayed so well imo. A lot of the characters in the newer Fire Emblem games nowadays often feel like caricatures. It feels harder and harder to find similar kinds of people like them in real life as time goes on. They feel more like personalities intended to pander to a person's indulgent thoughts and idealized views of what fictional characters should be, rather than like human beings. The gameplay integration for Pent and Louise is interesting, and I'm glad that they were still able to have equivalent conversations despite already having an A supports. I don't know who would think Louise is a bad mother for saving the world to ensure her child could even have a future in the first place... what a bunch of idiots and faux moralizers lol. In terms of marriage being the first step... I can agree on that. Though games are often made for young people, so it can be hard to appreciate older characters who have less to relate to when you're the target age for these games like Pent (I thought he was cool as heck and a great character when I played FE7, but not one I could really relate to). That's why I feel most Japanese games end up involving teenage protagonists or protags in their 20s, as that tends to be the period of time involving the most change in a person's life, where you start figuring out who you are and what your values are, what the world is like, what people are really like, and so on. (Doesn't mean it doesn't happen in the other stages of life, but I would say the teenage years and young adult years are the most tumultuous and subject to change... if you're still unstable and struggling to find yourself in your 40s... that's a problem) In western games cases, its often more about the coolness of the character when they're older (grizzled powerful, and often jaded veterans), rather than them being a role model or being relatable imo. You can't really relate to most older superheroes at a young age, but its cool to watch them be who they are. Marriage (or rather, the time during the marriage and beyond just the wedding) as a result is hard to depict well, especially in a game imo. I will say... one game that I feel handled this subject remarkably well is Dragon Quest 5. I would highly recommend it if you haven't played it before Mangs. Its both relatable, and an excellent and cleverly handled depiction of, well, life in general and really hits you in the heart. I don't want to spoil anything about it, but I highly recommend it. The DS version is great if you can play it. I wish you luck Mangs (not that you need it lol), and congratulations again on finding Bethany. She seems like a bright, shining light in your life and I wish you both great and loving times in your future.
Even some of the best parents can end up with some pretty bratty kids. I don't think it's that unreasonable to think that Louise and Pent put a lot of effort into being good parents only to have it not work out. There's also the matter of them being Lords and having to deal with the political aftermath of the chaos caused by the Black Fang. They may have spent years running around trying to stabilize things when they'd rather be with their children.
Huh, I never knew they had conversations as I have never used these units. The B chat has Louise sounds exactly like my wife. It just hit me that the two are really similar.
Truly, I kind of envy you and Bethany. I thought I had what you have - in a certain Chloé. Eventually, more than a year ago now, I learned she had no problem with transing the kids, and cultishly shut down any counterargument. While my heart was heavy, and I still mourn what could have been, I thank the Lord for showing me her true heart so that I could make the right decision for my future children. While parasocial relationships are gay, I'm glad that you pushed through what the "community" did to you and saw the new dawn. That faith in a new dawn for our world in crisis too pushes me through my daily exercises every time I want to give up for a day. At risk of being a bit heavy - even if sectarian violence flares, even I do not live to see said dawn. Don't go trying to An Hero again either. I know from first-hand experience how unfair that would be on Bethany. I was more terrified than that time I thought I had cancer when I was only 13.
Even after all these years I think FE7 has still best characters and supports in franchise. You can disagree, but that's all you can do about it. And yes, Louise (as well as Pent) is prime example of that.
For me it's simple. Beautiful man and woman are in love, faithful, loyal, and powerful. Dutiful and stands for good. Lovely designs is the cherry on top.
Calill and Largo also have interesting vibes. In Fe9 they already know each other, but are not a couple yet, even if there are hints without a support. There are now a couple in Fe10 who have a shop together and even an adopted child. I really hope you do the Fe10 Ironman and get Calill on Elincia's team, you can see Calill's motherly love at the best. =)
"You could just bench the other character, but what monster would possibly do this?" Yep, that's me! I always bench Louise. I didn't even know their A conversation was also something you could unlock. Guess she never saw that dragon on my copy of the game, lol.
can you talk about best friends in Fire Emblem? and see who are the best buddies in Fire Emblem like Marth and Merrick, Alm and his four village friends, Sigurd Quan and Eldigan, Seliph Lester and Diarmuid and Lana, Leif Nanna (and possibly Tanya), Roy Lilina and Wolt, Eliwood and Hector, Lyn and Florina, Ephraim Lyon Erika and Tana (and maybe Innes), Chris and Nourn (they mentioned that they are from the same village, so I'd assume they were friends), and maybe i can put the 7th platoon even though they met in the prologue
An intriguing inspection of relationship dynamics in FE. Though considering what HAS been made available before, there's always a non-zero chance players are eventually presented with a couple just like them that you can romance; At the same time of course. Though it is likely them picking you, and not the other way around. [Andaron Saga spoiler ahead: ] Tragedy of the plot aside, isn't that the implication of the way it went for Kaethis x Maria x Iris after all?
A very interesting video to say the least, although, you resumed it perfectly, modern fire emblem is plagued by avatars, or in awakening/fates with the pair up system, it's not a bad one, but the way IS did is not the best i'd say... After all, again, you said it, introducing a character already taken would probably not please a good amount of people sadly...particularly when we know some complain when they don't have the option to romance X person💀 In fact, I firmly believe Chrom was to marry Sumia, but it was removed on the last minute just so the players could do whatever they wanted, even if they hint it a lot, and even show it in the intro cutscene... And the worse part is, because of this, as great as some characters are, we can never fully explore them, because their stories remain about only them, whereas a couple would evolve together, and improve them...
I missed the more scripted character analysis videos like these. What a wonderful video ❤ I hope we get another video focusing on FE characters you like Mangs!
Unfortunately discussions such as this, are why I steer clear from new-aged FE. A lack of wholesome and traditional values, has lead to a downfall in quality of characters and story. I have incredible disdain for oversexualization and soft-core porn in my games. Avatars are also utter waste. So, I have dismissed all titles post FE11 besides Echoes. Pent and Louise have a beautiful relationship. Traditional Biblical marriage should be celebrated, not denigrated.
If FE7 ever gets the remake treatment, there should be a hidden cutscene for losing Pent or Louise. A playable couple in modern FE would be a nice change.
This is definitely an issue of support/shipping overload (and the avatar thing being bad for the series imo). I think more relationships should be set in stone, allowing for more time and care put into those relationships and supports, while also perhaps playing a role in the story. It also hurts the diversity of the cast : everyone is single/widow because everyone needs to otherwise you can't s support them or something
Do you agree with what I say in this video? Let me know!

I hate astore and I genuinely don't understand what people see in that "relationship"
9:31 clever and wholesome
finally someone knowledges that marriage is the start of the relation, and i really agree how the newest games being centered in the avatars have made most a part of the cast just be waifus and husbando material
Pent was a massive Gigachad
“Pent and louise are two of my favourite fire emblem characters”
And one of them MUCH more than the other
What love about the Avatar pairs is they are mostly not force.
Didn't something like that technically happen already when a SoV reviewer was butthurt they couldn't ship Celica with Saber instead of Alm?
@@asvadkhan9692 That reviewer was trash and received lots of backlash.
I'd love to see more content like this, Mangs. In addition to the usual streams, of course. It's just you're such a damn good scriptwriter and storyteller that it feels like a bit of a waste to only use these skills once in a lifetime.
Guys hear me out, I think Mangs might be thinkin a lot about marriage as of late for some reason.
It's fine for Louise to fight the dragon while pregnant, maternity leave doesn't exist in Elibe anyways
1:13 Even in Fates. Baby Dimension.
9:08 She literally says "Mommy's here" when blocking an attack.
Was this a vlog of Mangs’ wedding vow/admirations ? 😮
That shows that, even though they're talking about the same thing, they still manage to put one another as their first respective priorities. it's so genuine and healthy, all irl couples should strive to be like that
Foreshadowing for Mangs and Bethany's A support.

Marriage used to be the "beginning of one" now it is the death sentence for most people to be taken advantage of
i truly wished they put again a couple where it doesnt die and actually can fight along whit their kids or just accompain the main protagonist like Pent & Louise its sounds like something i will really want to see
character spotlights mentioned‼️ would love to see them come back
0:49 "But this isn't the only reason I like her. She's also blonde."
There already is 🥚. It’s Mangs and Bethany!
Ah, but Pent has a head full of hair, but Mangs is bald as an egg.
Saizo and Kagero are the closest thing we have to a Pent and Louise since they were once a couple (even if they broke up before the game's event).
It's quite rare to see a couple like this
And this video is telling us about how Mangs sharing us wisdom about how its feel in married life, Based on the man that already have wife...
Stay beside me, Louise
Louise really is loyal to Pent. She's proven it time after time when Mangs would play Fe7 4 years ago 😂
f this guy. im not letting you die
I love this kind of content Mangs, thank you❤
wait, i didnt realize that mangs made the video till the end
"of course, you can just bench the other character. But what monster would possibly do that?"
Yeah... Who does that... Right?
Jokes aside, Fire Emblem should have more pre-established couples like this, it's cool.
Louise is very well written character. While I am into blondes Lyn is still my favorite waifu in fire emblem 7, yes I know she sucks as a unit but I don't care.
Perfectly wholesome video to enjoy knowing Mangs finally found her 😊
Character Spotlight series lives again!
The concept of waifus is ironic in nature, it blows my mind when people take it way to seriously (such as the people that asked you why go for someone already taken, or the inverse, people that stop having a waifu/husbando when getting into a relationship)
People who have no girlfriend or had one in real life
Waifus have always existed in history.
I wonder why you've got wholesome married couples on the mind :^) (disregard this part I just saw the end of the video LOL)
But for real, this was a nice video.
(Doesn't mean it doesn't happen in the other stages of life, but I would say the teenage years and young adult years are the most tumultuous and subject to change... if you're still unstable and struggling to find yourself in your 40s... that's a problem)
In western games cases, its often more about the coolness of the character when they're older (grizzled powerful, and often jaded veterans), rather than them being a role model or being relatable imo.
Wtf dude?
Is that the plot of the next original FE game?
It's better than Engage for sure.
Self-insert pandering is a plague these days, and the enemy of authentic romance stories.
“Lousie” in the thumbnail lol
Even after all these years I think FE7 has still best characters and supports in franchise. You can disagree, but that's all you can do about it.
And yes, Louise (as well as Pent) is prime example of that.
quan and ethlyn sad story always hit harder and complements the story of gae bolg curse but pent and louise is great too
For me it's simple.
I really hope you do the Fe10 Ironman and get Calill on Elincia's team,
you can see Calill's motherly love at the best. =)
I be down for more set or already married couple in fire emblem.
This is a surprised to be sure, but a welcomed one.
Ah yes, Pent and Lousy
My favourite Flim Bliblim couple
Figar Bumbrum
"You could just bench the other character, but what monster would possibly do this?"
Yep, that's me! I always bench Louise. I didn't even know their A conversation was also something you could unlock. Guess she never saw that dragon on my copy of the game, lol.
OMG I love lousie
I wonder if Mangs plans on eventually doing an "FE 3 Book 2" Ironman.
can you talk about best friends in Fire Emblem? and see who are the best buddies in Fire Emblem
like Marth and Merrick,
Alm and his four village friends,
Sigurd Quan and Eldigan,
Seliph Lester and Diarmuid and Lana,
Leif Nanna (and possibly Tanya),
Roy Lilina and Wolt,
Eliwood and Hector,
Lyn and Florina,
Ephraim Lyon Erika and Tana (and maybe Innes),
Chris and Nourn (they mentioned that they are from the same village, so I'd assume they were friends), and maybe i can put the 7th platoon even though they met in the prologue
An intriguing inspection of relationship dynamics in FE. Though considering what HAS been made available before, there's always a non-zero chance players are eventually presented with a couple just like them that you can romance; At the same time of course. Though it is likely them picking you, and not the other way around. [Andaron Saga spoiler ahead: ]
Tragedy of the plot aside, isn't that the implication of the way it went for Kaethis x Maria x Iris after all?
A very interesting video to say the least, although, you resumed it perfectly, modern fire emblem is plagued by avatars, or in awakening/fates with the pair up system, it's not a bad one, but the way IS did is not the best i'd say...
After all, again, you said it, introducing a character already taken would probably not please a good amount of people sadly...particularly when we know some complain when they don't have the option to romance X person💀
In fact, I firmly believe Chrom was to marry Sumia, but it was removed on the last minute just so the players could do whatever they wanted, even if they hint it a lot, and even show it in the intro cutscene...
And the worse part is, because of this, as great as some characters are, we can never fully explore them, because their stories remain about only them, whereas a couple would evolve together, and improve them...
I have never had one of the die before so I didn't know the other would leave if one died.
i prefers annas love of gold. an everlasting love.
pretty good and wholesome content mangs, keep it up!
Mangs sound like he makes a great marriage counselor.
A spotlight video huh? Didn't think it was going to come back.
But hell if i say i'm not excited about this.
(Peri spotlight next Time? )
hahahahahaha
no
@@Mangs1337 Oh well, at least i tried
I missed the more scripted character analysis videos like these. What a wonderful video ❤
I hope we get another video focusing on FE characters you like Mangs!
Definitely agree, been a while since Mangs' last scripted video imo (and especially involving character analysis), was very nice
Hmmmmmm do I sense a cosplay married FE theme character duo happening????
They won’t make another blonde sniper like Louise but they will be a Sage as Stronk as Pent, right?
There is one, right???
The only person popping to my mind is Lindon in Engage. He arrives late and his person skill gives him the opportunity to be a crit beast.
no one will be as good as pent. he could dodge.
Mangs continues his trend of being late by missing a video deadline by 2 full weeks.
This will be me and Rimer someday
Same, like my gruff character in Awakening and Nowi uuuooh
more vids like this! i would make one on hector and lyn, but my other account has 1000 subs only, and cant do it as good as yall
Miss when Fire Emblem had characters that acted like believable (if a little eccentric) people, as opposed to caricatures
This Is Sweet.
Louise manage to kill a Dragon while pregnant
Mangs getting one last opportunity to talk about his waifu before becoming a Husband
Should have uploaded this one on Valentine smh
Honestly though.
This is why Fire Emblem supports shouldn't end at S Rank! We need SS, SSS, and X Rank supports!
Based Mangs, wonderful analysis
Dent is GOATED. No Sage can surpass him. Sorry Erk.
Hah! I finally caught the vid in 1 second.
Pent and Louise are the ultimate power couple
