Deamon was waiting for a hint from the King 😂😂😂
I liked this better than feeding him to Syrax like in the books.
No actually book tells the same as the tv series. The book talks about it during the ascend of Kind Aegon 3 towards the end, not during the dance. When Lord Corlys dies after falling from the steps, there was a debate as to who should succeed the sea snake, it was between Alyn Velaryon and Vaemonds Son. As a side note the book reads the Vaemon lost his head at the hands of Daemon questioning the legitimacy of Rhaenyra's children. It doesn't say the location or the occasion but it says he looses his head.
@@sithumsamaraweera360 it specifically says that Rhaenyra ordered Daemon to kill him and then fed his corpse to Syrax.
I'm just worried they're white washing Rhaenyra a bit.
@@masterplokoon8803Feed his *corpse*. Something had to kill him first.
@@VerdaTal yeah and that someone was Daemon on her orders.
Vaemond knew he was dead. He wanted to go out in style and become a martyr. Daemon was happy to oblige him
“Say it”
He was begging for a reason 😂
It looks like someone just cut out his head from a picture. 😂😂
Ikr, I think the fact taht it looks cheesy actually kindve enhances it, it shouws just how sharp valyrian steel actually is, clean cut
It's crazy how sharp the Valyrian steel sword is, instead of being pulled together with the head, his dreadlocks were sliced off clean
Also you can see Daemon kinda messed up his aim and hit Vaemond in the middle of his jaw, but the sword still cleaved through the entire cross-section of jaw bone and probably half a row of teeth like it was butter.
That’s a hell of a thumbnail
Per me, It was an agreement between rhynera and her husband. If they both feel it legit, no one else should have an issue.
Medieval times man, there is no such thing as "feel it legit".
Vaemond's death is a huge injustice. However the man knew better than to call a woman a whore in front of her father. Just mere seconds ago he was talking about the survival of his own house and then he says those things, KNOWING that he's the last pure blood Velaryon. He was 100% right about Rhaenyra (including her being a whore), but he should have been a lot smarter than this.
Sometimes a mans emotion get the better of him. The usually lose their head because of that. In this case even literally speaken.
True. But it's his genetic wiring that wouldn't let him shut up. So he lost his head.
When a man speaks the truth and dies for it/there really is no justice in the world 😪
you got to be prepared if you insulted anyone, even if what you are saying is the truth you more-on.
I gotta make sure you know this isn’t real. This is a tv show
@@robinnico7564Telling the truth isn’t an insult. He got killed for stating the obvious
Viserys had made a decree about 6 years before this that if anyone questioned the legitimacy of Rhaenyra’s sons, they would lose their tongue. You can see the moment that Vaemond decides to put that decree to the test at 0:41. However, I have always felt like Daemon beheaded him because he called Rhaenyra a whore.
@elysecatmull3404 but to be fair she was a whore and they where bastards/so him being killed wasn't quite justifyed however he should have lost his tongue as punishment instead
>executes a prominent nobleman in front of the entire court with no trial whatsoever
>Nobleman wasn't even wrong, he was just stating the obvious
>Team Black surprised that a lot of people don't support them
Crazy.
Edit: Daemon doesn't face any repercussions for this lmao. If I was a noble in Westeros and I knew the royal family could kill nobility with impunity I would not support them
i mean, he called the heir to the throne a whore in court, that alone would easily get him a death sentence.
>he was not a very “prominent nobleman”, he was simply corlys’ little brother (aka a second son)
>he WAS wrong, it is treason to slander a king and/or his kin, and he was gonna lose his tongue anyways
>many ppl still supported the blacks, what are you on about?
and those who didn’t support them mostly didn’t want a female ruler, they dgaf about vaemond
Except for, y'know, the guy's own BROTHER!
The King had prohibited any discussion about Rhaenyra's children's legitimacy. Westeros is an absolute monarchy and the King is the highest law in the land. Vaemond broke the King's decree and disrespected the royal House. Vaemond and his family have no one to blame except Vaemomd for being a reckless fool.
didn't team black have more houses supporting them anyways?? who cares.
Say what you want about Vaemond, he said that with his chest
Why would you talk shit to someone in their own home? Wait until you get home then send a raven
Ned Stark learned with Vaemond about timing.
Vaemond master of complaints.
Unusual sword. It cut cleanly through even the hair without even slightly deflecting it to the right but the head did deflect. ;)
Bruh that was a clean cut and sharp ass sword !!
valerian steel babyyy
he was right
Cuts off half a dude's head
Refuses to elaborate further
Lol, the minute Daemon said say it, we all knew what was going to happen. I wish a man would say that in front of my father and his bloodline -while I’m standing there. 😂
In the books, correct me if I’m wrong, but his death was more like dishonorable didn’t he end up getting fed to syrax
That was after losing his head by the hands of Daemon.
He was also not Corlys brother in the books, just a cousin.
@@naosou921 really that is wild so in the books he was really trying to make this claim of the next heir driftmark but wasn’t even a brother just a cousin bro sit yo ass down
@@johnpaulgoffredo3274
Correction, not cousin. In the books, Vaemond is Corlys's nephew. And the show down did not happen in Kings Landing, in front of the king.
Basically, Vaemond started politicking and calling Rhaenyra a whore and saying her sons were bastards, and he should be Corlys's heir instead (completely ignoring the grandaugthers).
Rhaneyra sent Daemon to deal with him, and Daemon fed him to Syrax and had the tongues of all of Vaemond's sons removed for repeating his father's claims.
Cuts *off* his head, it not like he just left him with a bleeding laceration...
Aemond: “Fuck this guys cool.” 1:28
He died for telling the truth😢
Vaemond canadian
thats pretty badlooking lmao
Man got murdered for speaking the truth.
No, he got murdered for disrespecting the king, disobeying direct orders from the king, insulting the crown princess (being the truth doesn't make an insult any less of an insult)
He died because he was an idiot.
@@naosou921 so he died because he told the truth that the king and his daughter didn't want to hear. Still died for telling the truth, no matter how much people tried to twist it and justify it.
@@masterplokoon8803 It is a medieval world. He isn't living in america with freedom of speech.
He died for disobeying the king, insulting the royal family and for being a moron. If I walk up to someone with a mental disability and call them a retard, it is still an insult. "It is the truth!" is not some kind of mantra that you can scream to avoid the consequence of your idiotic actions.
He was also trying to usurp his nieces from their rightful inheritance, before even knowing his brother was actually dead. The man was no saint.
I mean, was he lying though?
Bro really thought he was hot shit huh?
And Lord Corlys STILL joins the Blacks!
I mean, Vaemond was trying to steal the inheritance of Corlys's grandaughters, if you didn't notice.
He was acting like he should take the mantle of Lord Velaryon, but even if Rhaenyra's sons are completely removed from the succession line, it still wouldn't belong to him.
I mean, hell, they didn't even know if Corlys was dead yet and Vaemond was already being a vulture.
No wonder Corlys didn't care he died.
Also, in the books, Vaemond is not his brother. He is just a cousin he didn't even have a good relationship with. It is was a strange change by the show writers, honestly.
@@naosou921 I think it makes sense for the show. He was a titular side character who was greedy and self-important. In the books there are clear indications of this, and that despite it he did have a legitimate claim. There isn't enough time to flesh that out in the show. But my making him a brother it's easier to accept his reckless, stupid behavior. Had he been portrayed as a disliked cousin. The audience wouldn't accept his claim out of hand. Making this scene more like a comedy than a drama. "who the fuck is this guy?"
@@thegamersgrimm3228he wasn't really greedy, he was just right, and there are no indications of his greed in the books. In the books he merely says that Strongs shouldn't inherit Driftmark because they are not Velaryons and he is correct. In response Rhaenyra orders Daemon to kill him and feed his corpse to Syrax. Horrified with the murder some Velaryons go to king Viserys for justice, however he removes their tongues because they repeated the truth that Vaemond said. These Velaryons chose to fight for the greens to get revenge on Rhaenyra.
house of the Dragon has some Elden Ring Vibes
Disarm him? Why 😂
It is a little disturbing seeing Matt Smith in that wig & costume and on this show.. And the scene is very violent and disturbing I won't have anything to do with this
Cool story bro but I don’t think anybody asked
welcome to the bloody political universe of G.O.T 😏/😒
Still cannot believe they changed the lore to make the velaryons black
Were the velaryons white?
@@Gaminggangster16 yup
It was a stroke of genius!!
The show was made even better knowing they never dwelled on it, it just fit perfectly, tbf I can't imagine Lord Corlys, or House Velaryon as anything but now.
Kudos HBO, well played ✅ 👍
It works though. I hate forced DEI stuff but this isn't it. They're not being treated differently for having dark skin. They're not acting differently for having dark skin. They're like every other house, they just happen to have dark skin. What's better is this particular change helps with the whole bastardy situation. It's now far more obvious the children are not Velaryon and that everyone knows but are choosing not to confront it until things boil over like they did here.
This is one of the few times a race swap has actually added to something.
@@PS1-Hagrid still ruins the lore from the books
