Theresa Hoover - That was their strength. Four totally different individuals who all liked different kinds of music, were highly educated and had different skills. Freddie like classical, gospel and opera. John liked soul, funk, disco and progressive stuff like Yes. Roger really disliked Deacon's tastes in music and called it bullocks. (Roger is not the most tactful person on the planet. He also cruelly called Deacon a sociopath! Very mean.) Brian liked The Beatles, Who and Hendrix. Roger preferred rock like Mitch Mitchell (Hendrix's drummer). They augmented each other. Deaky was their early electronics guy and of course he invented the unique amp that Brian still uses that enables his guitar to sound like an entire orchestra. That was a major component of Queen's music that cannot be overlooked. Apparently the fights were epic but that made the music better because they pushed each other.
That is WHY they were so good; they ALL had lucrative careers OUTSIDE of the band..... takes the pressure off so when they got together, they just had FUN

This performance has been called "the 20 minutes that changed rock and roll". I tuned in to see led zeppelin reunited for the first time since Bonhams death. And i really only remember this
RAdio Ga Ga was written by Roger Taylor, the drummer. He heard his kid, one day, say, "Radio Ga Ga!" And he wrote the song. I recommend everyone who hasn't seen Bohemian Rhapsody, to see that movie. The movie is about the music and it blew me away.
One thing Queen did that many others didn't was practice their set. They knew how much time they had and wanted to 1) Cram as many hits as they could into that time and 2) Make sure they hit the audience fast and hard and keep them engaged. They accomplished both to an incredible degree. Shows how professional Queen was, even when doing a short set for charity.
I've seen this concert video about a million times, and probably 30 reaction videos of it. Yours was so fun to watch! Your enthusiasm and excitement was infectious. I found myself smiling and clapping along with you! Thanks for a lot of fun!! And Hey! I graduated in 1986 too!
I remember watching that set on TV and being knocked over even with crap sound fron one tiny speaker. 30-plus years later and they still wipe me out. That was a SHOW!
I had to respond and congratulate you on seeing this video. Old fart white guy here who remembers Queen well. Haven't read your many other comments, so forgive me if I repeat something. First, no one like Freddy. So much, the US didn't quite know what to do with him. No one was just "in-your-face" gay like Freddy. Not in '85. No big deal now but back then... But I've loved Queen a long time. Queen made people do just what both of you did. I love the pure joy on your faces. Isn't it amazing how great this show is no matter who you are. Their concerts were interactive. We sang, yelled and cried. Freddy had a 4 octave range, which almost no one has. The only voice like his is Phillip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire. At the Freddy tribute concert in 1992, all the artists realized they couldn't sing like him! His voice was a gift from God and his showmanship puts P.T. Barnum to shame. I'm sure you got the deets on the songs and Live Aid. Ain't gonna try to add to that. But thank you, and keep the music on. Sex on the Beach has got to be your next sip on!
The opening to Radio Ga Ga is probably in my top 10 things of all time that instantly makes me smile. It never gets old. We definitely miss you Freddie.
What makes this even more amazing apart from the performance, was that this was not a queen audience at all. Maybe some in there. Queen was a late edition to the line up so essentially no one knew they would be there. To command the crowd when they are not your audience is truly amazing.
They weren’t billed x 20min sets, no rehearsal they killed it! When you think of Live Aid it’s Queen that 1st pop into your head, we watched from Australia 🇦🇺 back in the day, the 1st 24hr world televised concert ever nothing will beat this x
The start of this gives me goose bumps, What a man, Performer, Artist and the others in the band are just brilliant. The other concert at Wembley is one of the best as well.
I’ve watched queen at live aid 100s of times and get goosebumps every time. We lost Freddy to soon and so many more to a big disease with a small name.
No one like Freddie, he feels EVERY single note in the core of his body. Only 2 people in history it's said that could control a crowd that size the way he did, 1) Freddie (of course) and 2) Douche bag Hitler. The way he controls the fans is amazing! He has this divine aura about him and makes you light up every time you watch him live, he glows and you can't take your eyes off him. You want to watch a song where the instrumental part "plays your soul" White Queen (A Night At The Odeon - Hammersmith 1975) The instrumental in between his singing is unreal, Freddie disappears and becomes the piano he is so into it, and it's as if the instruments are communicating with one another. You won't regret it if you haven't seen it yet. It's one of his younger performances.
dajtoad1 Which is true but sad! They couldn't even hear themselves play bc they were screamed at so much. Queen audiences were 100% invested and almost a part of the band in some moments.
@@arwenodinson8803 I don't think they (The Beatles) ever attempted improv in concert (perhaps because they couldn't hear themselves). They just reproduced their singles. Queen improvised - their concert versions were different every night. Just incredible live performers and, as you say, involving the audience 100% as part of the performance
I was 15 years old when Live Aid happened. We watched it in our living room in suburban Detroit. When Queen came on, I was drawn to the T.V. By the end of that performance, I was inches away from the screen in AWE. I've truly not been the same since then. One of the brightest spots in my musical journey, that continues to this day. Freddie Mercury set the standard for stage presence and moved so many people in ways that they can't even talk about. I love your reactions!!! As it should be as they are great!! Thank you for a wonderful view through new eyes!! God bless both of you. And Freddie was looking down on you and smiling. What you felt watching this, is what brought him the greatest joy. Drinking vodka BTW :-)
We had a big Live Aid party on that day with a few kegs had a blast all day tapped the first one at like 10 o’clock when Black Sabbath came on. What a day! I will remember it forever.
I was twelve years old and watched it with my parents..it blew me away and still does...my folks were loyal fans..loved your reactions...miss you Freddy RIP
I was totally blown away when I found out how many celebs had college degrees, and higher. The actor Dolph Lundgren, plays a big, dumb muscle man, has a master's in chemical engineering. Nice to have something to fall back on.
I was 9 when i saw this on the telly in 85 and i have fond vivid memories of how my parents were signing every note and dancing along with Freddie in our living room. Queen's music was a constant in our household my youngest brother who is 43 this year was 4 then counts Queen as his favorite band. And the following year 1986, Queen contributed to music(Princes of the Universe & Who Wants to Live Forever) to a film that shaped me as a kid to present day as a man, Highlander. As young men to older man, men identify themselves with superheroes, mine was Connor Mcleod of the Clan Mcleod, this film is still a favorite because of Queen. You gave them all those old-time stars Through wars of worlds, invaded by Mars You made 'em laugh, you made 'em cry You made us feel like we could fly (radio) So don't become some background noise A backdrop for the girls and boys Who just don't know, or just don't care And just complain when you're not there
Some background on this concert: Live Aid was a relief effort for a massive famine in Ethiopia. There was this concert in London (about 72,000), another in Philadelphia (100,000), all broadcast around the world throughout the day and night to an audience of nearly 2 billion. It featured almost every major act at that time and each group was given 20 minutes. Queen totally stole the show (and you just saw why). Nearly 35 years later and it's still considered the greatest live rock and roll set of all time. Deservedly so. Oh, and random note: The second song, Radio GaGa? That's where Lady Gaga got her name from.
@@rockhero2274 They had a golden opportunity to do "Under Pressure" with David Bowie. He took the stage right after them. But for some reason Queen and/or David Bowie didn't want to do it I guess.
@@robertprice6830 Bob Geldolf & Midge Ure organized it for famine relief in Ethiopia. That's why the Live Aid logo is a guitar combined with the African continent. It all started with the charity project Band Aid and the song "Do They Know It's Crhistmas?" in 1984 to raise money. Then Michael Jackson and many artists did USA For Africa "We Are The World" in the spring of 1985. Then it all culminated in the summer of 1985 with the Live Aid concerts to raise money for famine relief in Africa.
OMG! I love you guys! First time I have seen you, but I'm gonna subscribe right now! I was 23 and lived 2 miles from Wembley stadium when Live Aid took place, didn't get tickets so watched it at home and when Freddie was performing could hear the roar of the crowd from my garden! Always loved him, A true legend! Anyway sending much love to you from London, UK ❤️
OK, first off I have to just say how cute you two are! What a lovely couple you make! You're so nice to each other and if I weren't married I'd say "relationship goals." Live Aid was a concert given to raise money for famine relief in Africa. Many, Many bands played. Queen's playlist was 1. Bohemian Rhapsody (only a small part of it,) 2. Radio Gaga (from which Lady Gaga took her name,) 3. Hammer to Fall. 4. Crazy Little Thing Called Love (which Freddie wrote specifically as a tribute to Elvis) 5. We Will Rock You 6. We Are the Champions. Queen's contribution to Live Aid is considered by many as one of the all-time great concerts. My only personal complaint is just that the camera work was terrible because they focussed so heavily on Freddie that they missed showing John Deacon (Bass) Brian May (Guitar) and Roger Taylor ( drums) even when they had solos or were heavily featured. Also, they all contributed to the background vocals and the other three ALL have excellent voices on their own. Other than that, it is just incredible to watch and hear. Thanks for your reactions!
Hi Steph ‘n Jay, I just watched your reaction to Queen Live Aid, it so good to see another black woman Love Freddie❣️ I’m a lot older than you, but I’ve Loved Queen & Freddie since I was a kid, kids in my neighborhood of New Jersey thought I was crazy for like there music, I guess they thought black people should only listen to black music, which is nuts to me, I love all types of music😊. Thank you for share your reaction, I loved it, you look like I felt, and still do. I miss Freddie too😔. The movie gave me a different perspective of the other members, except I had a major crush on Roger Taylor. I Love them all as QUEEN 💗
nimoe...😩 They did do covers early in their careers up to the Magic Tour! They covered: "Jail House Rock," "Tutti Fruit," "Big Spender" among a few others. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was an original rockabilly song penned by Mercury as a nod to Elvis. But Queen did do a few covers ✌🏾!
Being born in 1960 I was in my twenties during the eighties and going to numerous rock concerts, one of them being Queen in 1982! One of my top 10 for sure!

I so love your reaction to this, probably one of the greatest performances ever! Seeing your smiles is great. I still watch it now & will never get over what an amazing showman Freddie was & how good Queen were
Yes mam, Queen was on of the best rock bands. Freddie was spontaneous, and a force to be reckoned with on stage. His energy is absolutely amazing. Radio Gaga is one of my favorite songs from Queen. I absolutely loved y'all reactions to this Live concert. Freddie was a beautiful man.
Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written by Freddie Mercury not Elvis. As everyone else below has stated, Freddie wrote it in his bathtub in 10 minutes. He gave it an Elvis vibe, vocally as he loved the King. He also loved Jimi Hendrix.
BTW-The concert started at 12noon London time (7am US) Queen came on at 6:41pm with a well-rehearsed 20 min set. They were asked if they would return to close the show at 9:48pm with a song from their previous album titled “Is this the World We Created” becz the concert organizers thought it was appropriate.
Freddie was born in Stone Town, Zanzibar (now Tanzinia) - East Africa. This (as well as India) was a British protectorate and as such, the ppl born there were British subjects intitled to British or Unitied Kingdom citizenship. When the Bulsara’s arrived in England, they applied for full British citizenship, making them UK Brits! Now if you mean Bri, Rog, and Deacy are ENGLISH, then yes...you would be correct as they were born on English soil and therefore, are Englishmen. Since Britian is made-up of more than ppl only borned on English soil, Freddie can certainly be considered British.
@@osvie0167 I do know that it was from the earlier Queen album The Works but even so, it was used in Highlander …. It was playing on the radio when the survivalist guy was driving around and he found the Kurgan sword-fighting the African immortal.
It was used in the movie Iron Eagle released in the same year as highlander and you're totally correct about it being on the radio in highlander, I had to research that one to see if it was true. Also (Fun fact) no official soundtrack to Highlander was ever released although several unofficial ones have been.
I graduated in ‘86, and Live Aid was the year before I graduated. We watched it all day on MTV when it started in London, and finished in Philadelphia. It was heaven! I miss Freddy! Great reaction video!
You lucky bastard...I got into Queen about 86-ish... and thought "not to worry ,I'll catch them next time they tour"... they never toured again (in that line-up).

17:22 - We Are The Champions
21:12 - Is This The World We Created...?
nope your time stamp is wrong as they did not react to the last song
A shiver goes down the spine when the greatest showman ever starts performing! Freddie Forever.
This performance has been called "the 20 minutes that changed rock and roll". I tuned in to see led zeppelin reunited for the first time since Bonhams death. And i really only remember this
The best i love his moves actually i love everything about Freddie and his ;BANDMATES ❤❤❤❤🎉
I was 16 and remember my very conservative dad, a farmer, watching this just for Queen
I don't care what walk of life someone is from, everybody, and I mean ERVREBODY loved Queen back then.
I was 20 years old raising a 2 year son alone and working hard to support us but still managed to catch this live. Thanks for your review!
I was in college and 20. Tumbs up to you and your family
I was 20 yrs old too
How can one song make you cry , smile and yell . The best . Love you Freddie mercury.
Freddie Mercury didn't die. Another universe just needed him more...^_~
Absolutely loved sharing this moment you you.
Look forward to more!
I said the same thing about Prince. 💯💯💯💯☔☔☔☔☔☔😁😁😁😁😁😁
@@mztweety1374 You weren't wrong, my friend! Lucky ass universes! They take all the best!
@@mztweety1374 You were right. ^_^
GrayNeko Great way of putting it mate ! I like that xxx
Meishawn1374 yes! Aww these comments make me so happy! This Scottish girl utterly adored queen and Prince. I miss Freddie and Prince so much 😩❤️💜
RAdio Ga Ga was written by Roger Taylor, the drummer.
Queen... One band that could unite the entire world... Special.
He was such a peacock when he was on stage. I love it
Yes! He actually referred to himself in one interview as a "Persian popinjay." But off stage, he was low-key and rather shy.
Prett flamboyant
Really happy i´m not the only one who thinks so :D
Just as he did with the microphone, he played the stage like an instrument.
Adam Lambert now, he doesn't have the voice of Freddy, geez I don't think anyone does. But Adam has the flamboyance down pat.
That was a SHOW!
i was not born back then but this live aid was for the famine in my country so thank you the Legendary freddie, queen and everybody else.
We definitely miss you Freddie.
laserfloyd...YESSSSSS! The way he jumps str8 up into the air and prance ‘round waitin’ to sing was magical for sure ✌🏾!
What makes this even more amazing apart from the performance, was that this was not a queen audience at all. Maybe some in there. Queen was a late edition to the line up so essentially no one knew they would be there. To command the crowd when they are not your audience is truly amazing.
Thanks for all your reactions! Great stuff
This is probably one of the most nicest and enjoyable reaction videos that I've ever seen.
"Do that shit Freddie!" Lol what a great way to start my work day. Seeing the love and appreciation for Queen makes me cry a little...every time
she is amazing
I’ve watched queen at live aid 100s of times and get goosebumps every time. We lost Freddy to soon and so many more to a big disease with a small name.
This never gets old !!
I lost count long ago! 🫶👑
You want to watch a song where the instrumental part "plays your soul" White Queen (A Night At The Odeon - Hammersmith 1975)
The instrumental in between his singing is unreal, Freddie disappears and becomes the piano he is so into it, and it's as if the instruments are communicating with one another. You won't regret it if you haven't seen it yet. It's one of his younger performances.
@jim moreisin Well kind of the equivalent to a Hitler rally.
Have you never seen a Beatles concert,I'm going to pretend you haven't.
@@adamnicol4271 The Beatles were nothing special in concert. Their fans just screamed at them, it didn't matter what they played.
dajtoad1 Which is true but sad!
There were 15 bands there. Queen went on after six hours and ..........STOLE THE SHOW!!!! R.I.P. FREDDIE!!
We had a big Live Aid party on that day with a few kegs had a blast all day tapped the first one at like 10 o’clock when Black Sabbath came on. What a day! I will remember it forever.
Jealous!
I went to see him 2 weeks before this concert. What a band. No one like Freddie. God bless him. Love from London. Jan 🧡
Freddie Mercury wrote crazy little thing called love in the bath 🛀 lol 😂
Fun fact
also, probably said somewhere else here, but he meant it to be a tribute to Elvis' sound
…….whilst playing with his rubber duck! probably fun friction.
A tribute to Elvis.Another fact.
I was twelve years old and watched it with my parents..it blew me away and still does...my folks were loyal fans..loved your reactions...miss you Freddy RIP
Crazy little thing called Love. Freddy Mercury's tribute to Elvis after Elvis's deatu.
death..
The lead Guitar Brian May is also an astrophysicists who has helped NASA many times
He's a PhD now :D
Robert Huggler I read several years ago that Queen is the only band to have charted records and all its members were college graduates.
@@scoonman also they are the only band in history to hit the number 1 spot in two diffrent decade's
He also helps the wildlife as well
I was totally blown away when I found out how many celebs had college degrees, and higher.
You gave them all those old-time stars
Through wars of worlds, invaded by Mars
You made 'em laugh, you made 'em cry
You made us feel like we could fly (radio)
So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know, or just don't care
And just complain when you're not there
The greatest rock band of all time in my opinion .
Apparently after their set, Bowie was backstage and told Freddie, "You spoiled it for everyone." They raised the bar that night.
@@rockhero2274 They had a golden opportunity to do "Under Pressure" with David Bowie. He took the stage right after them. But for some reason Queen and/or David Bowie didn't want to do it I guess.
No sir, all proceeds went to Aids research.
@@qthelost I believe We Are The World was recorded in the winter not spring. It was shorty after the Grammys or the American Music Awards.
You're so nice to each other and if I weren't married I'd say "relationship goals."
Live Aid was a concert given to raise money for famine relief in Africa.
Radio Ga Ga (where Lady Ga Ga took her name) & Hammer to Fall. Freddie wrote Crazy Little Thing Called Love in memory of Elvis.
Queen never sings covers. crazy little thing called love is their song
nimoe...😩 They did do covers early in their careers up to the Magic Tour! They covered: "Jail House Rock," "Tutti Fruit," "Big Spender" among a few others.
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was an original rockabilly song penned by Mercury as a nod to Elvis. But Queen did do a few covers ✌🏾!
They covered 'Great pretender' which I love their version of this song.
Lucy Matthews that wasn’t Queen it was a Freddie Mercury solo song
Motown 1966 yeh they often did a little old time medley even did Shirley bassey big spender
The intro to its a hard life was ripped off from an old opera song
Being born in 1960 I was in my twenties during the eighties and going to numerous rock concerts, one of them being Queen in 1982! One of my top 10 for sure!
This is Elvis inspired in style, but Freddie wrote it. Legend has it. While he was in the tub, in five minutes!!
Scientists say there are 20mins lost that made the earth stop spinning.
One of the best performers of all time! The voice, the energy, the raw emotions through the lyrics, the showmanship... Epic!
This was an adorable reaction from both people pure awesomeness!
I was so sad this morning, until I found your channel, you made me so happy. Your joy is contagious, thank you so much!
I’m drinking Margaritas! Let’s rock Fam! AYO! ALLRIGHT!!!
The best vocalist ever, even medical scientist studied his voice! I MISS HIM SO MUCH! 👦🏻👑🎤🎹🎸 👏🏼👏🏼🥾👏🏼👏🏼🥾👏🏼👏🏼🥾👏🏼👏🏼🥾
They say this was the best concert ever.I believe it.😀
I so love your reaction to this, probably one of the greatest performances ever! Seeing your smiles is great. I still watch it now & will never get over what an amazing showman Freddie was & how good Queen were
Its time to turn up the volume, Freddie's on 🎶🎸
Yes mam, Queen was on of the best rock bands.
I believe Elvis only wrote one song himself “that’s alright mama” and the rest the colonel bought from writers
L B he also loved Aretha Franklin!!
It was only a tribute to Elvis
@@montereyharris1277 I know!!!! My favorite song, Somebody to Love. She was his inspiration behind 'Somebody'.🥰
BTW-The concert started at 12noon London time (7am US)
Queen came on at 6:41pm with a well-rehearsed 20 min set. They were asked if they would return to close the show at 9:48pm with a song from their previous album titled “Is this the World We Created” becz the concert organizers thought it was appropriate.
Loved your reaction. What a beautiful couple you are. Keep sending out that love to the world.
One of the best bands ever radio ga ga and hammer to fall Queen the best
Ome of our best British exports. RIP Freddy
Eh, kinda...Freddie was not BORN in Great Britain, he grew up in two other countries before even arriving there, but we know what you mean.
Farouk Bulsara was born in Zanzibar and moved to the UK as a boy. Deacon, May & Taylor are all Brits.
@@Truthseeker1961 True, but the band has its roots in England, hence why it is considered a Brit band.
Nobody could control the audience the way Freddie did...rip bro..
He was the only man who could make an entire stadium explode he was just so amazing.
The songs name is Hammer To Fall which was used in the 1986 movie Highlander, and the other is Radio Gaga
It was not in Highlander, it was part of The Works album 1984.
I don't know about the States but the UK stopped for a day and it never happened again. The best thing The BBC ever did.
I graduated in ‘86, and Live Aid was the year before I graduated. We watched it all day on MTV when it started in London, and finished in Philadelphia. It was heaven! I miss Freddy! Great reaction video!
I am so grateful I grew up in the 70's and 80's. So much great music to listen to. I was also fortunate to see Queen live, they were amazing.
You lucky bastard...I got into Queen about 86-ish... and thought "not to worry ,I'll catch them next time they tour"... they never toured again (in that line-up).
Yall got me laughin with your reactions and yes Freddie was the best
I was 18 and just graduated from high school in June....80's were the best time to grow up and watched this on MTV....Good times!!!
Damn, you two are adorable . Freddie and Queen are “IT” for me! None better. Never has been probably never will be. I’ve enjoyed Folk, Jazz, Blues, Reggae and more BUT, “Nothing Compares to You”!
