When he says “me and you we almost had the same outcome Heath, cuz that Christmas, you know the whole pneumonia thing” it’s because eminem was in the hospital over Christmas Day, and heard that Heath Ledger, the actor died from prescription pills. If I’m not mistaken, he told people (or it was in the press) that he was in the hospital for pneumonia, not drugs. Just thought I’d share!

"It was bologna - was it the methodone, ya, think?"
He canceled the last leg of his last Anger Management Tour and checked himself into rehab. The tour before that he left the Eurpoean leg early because Kim slit her wrists for attention, which he covers in 2005's Curtain Call's "When I'm Gone" about being in Sweden when it happened.
After these incidents he stopped touring in the US for good. When he finally returned after his hiatus and prescription pill addiction, he does one off shows in Australia and that now. Won't do a US Tour anymore.
Too bad I never caught the '99 SS Tour he did with Royce, he came to my town back then. But I heard he was all extasy'd up on that tour. And I didn't get into his music until "Forgot About Dre" & MMLP the following year anyway.

Slim stuff is so depedending on a track. Like Puke or on purpose bad song FACK is really something to hear from the bottom of the barrell. Going Thru Changes or Yellow Brick Road type of songs is the way to go at this point imo. Dude haven't even reacted to Lose Yourself. Then there is Space Bound and Love The Way You Lie kinda road not yet taken but like The Real Slim Shady or Without Me wouldn't be for example that bad detour.

Deja vu was one that spoke to me on a personal level, I went through 7 years of painkiller addiction. Nobody could see it, I held a steady job, socialised normally, and practically had a "normal" existence.
When Eminem released recovery, it gave me the kick I needed to get clean.
Fantastic reaction pal, you still have a couple of unexplored areas to venture. I would suggest your next mission should be the notoriously scary Eminem diss tracks.
Maybe start with the more recent Killshot MGK diss, but beforehand watch MGKs Rap Devil so you can compare the two.
If you decide to try it, let is know and we can give you a bit of background on the beef.
Maybe check out some of his interviews as well, he is so well spoken and you get a good look on how his mind works. Maybe look at his Sway interview.

This is song epitomizes why Eminem is my favorite artist. You can tell he never lies or writes something for the hell of it, at least in his serious songs. The way he delievers these lyrics paint a picture in themselves, like for example the line, «and you would think with all i have at stake». You start to think about the stakes he’s referring to, before delievering the next line «Look at my daughters face».
Bit of a sporadic analysis, but powerful in my eyes!

  • @chrismcmeekin9943
    @chrismcmeekin9943 2 года назад +4

Eminem is the master of framing really tragic and painful situations in a lighthearted way and injecting comedy into his self reflection to make it more palatable for not just us, but for himself. That never diminishes the point that he's trying to make, or the story he's trying to tell because the truth in his words always shines through. Everything he touches on in this song, all the behaviors of an addict, is straight facts, and it's brutally honest. And through all the masterful pictures he paints he never sacrifices the lyrics. It's so easy to get caught up in the story you may not even notice multi syllable rhyme schemes he's maintaining for an entire verse.

Please React to Eminem “Going Through Changes” it’s a banger also Deja Vu is possibly the best song off Relapse very introspective and yeah Em was never a junkie he was a drug addict tho he explained it once look up his interview about his drug addiction or even his 106 & Park interview in 2009 Em The Goat Of Hip Hop frfr✍🏽🐐🔥🎯💯(Also this Beat is fucking nasty Dr Dre put his foot in these beats on the Relapse album Dre still till this day hasn’t made theses types of unique beats like this for any other artist but Em I hope we get these types of Beats from Dre on an Eminem album soon hope he fully produces the album as well cause when him and Em link up it’s greatness and masterpieces come out within the process, also it’s a method behind Em’s madness it shows how versatile he truly is as not only a Hip Hop Artist but also a Music Artist just in general and it shows how conceptually genius he is within this song and more within his discography)

The beginning is a masterpiece, it’s a emt radioing to the receiving hospital of the patients condition ( Marshall’s) mid 30s male found down, unresponsive, possible overdose, pulse is 60 and “thready” respirations 8, “intubated and bagging” bp 90 over palpating, cool, pale and diaphoretic, hes aspirated, GCS is 3, eta 10 minutes.
I’m a trained Emt and I can explain these terms in the call. Pulse is 60 and thready is another way of saying it’s very weak and faint.
He’s intubated and bagging meaning his airway was compromised and needed to have a device to assist his breathing with a bag valve mask, which is used to push air into the lungs.
Bp 90 over palpitation, his systolic is extremely low and he might not be able to get an accurate reading for his diastolic pressure so he’s able to palpate it because it’s so low.
Cool, pale and diaphoretic, very sweaty
    Aspirated means he already vomited
GCS is the Glasscow coma scale, which is used to scale the responsiveness of the patient. The higher the number the better, his score was three so he was unresponsive and unable to communicate in almost all ways.
After hearing the beginning I realized what It was. And that gives so much more insight on how close he was to death.

Its a common theme on all of his albums since, it's definitely Shady. You heard it in Bad Guy as well for the whole last verse. It's basically the devil on his shoulder. I'm so happy you picked up on that, as well as knowing who DeShaun was.

@@Zskillit See and I love how the story deepens with each album that he brings Slim Shady back. After his hiatus, Relapse was billed as the return of Slim Shady over Dr Dre beats, and since I always wanted him to do that I was overly excited for that album...until it came out and wasn't what they pitched it as...was just a bunch of serial killer songs with lackluster and unfinished skeletal Dre beats without his traditional late 90s-2000s classic instruments in the beats. Imagine if we got actual classic Dre beats like what was on Xzibit's albums or Dre's own or The Wash soundtrack.. then with a actual return of Slim Shady with the battle rap punchlines, he would have been best in the industry then... imagine having one of the best beatmakers ever and never utilizing his beats on your albums. Lost opportunitys.
That being said, the bonus tracks were well worth it. "My Darling" the actual take on what happened to the Slim Shady persona, and "Careful What You Wish For", the leftover intro and opening song to the scrapped King Mathers retirement album.
But even on MMLP2 he alludes on "Evil Twin" and a few others about Shady, then on Kamikaze videos "Fall", "Venom" and "Lucky You" we got hints of the spirit chasing him and taking over again.
It seems he can never escape Shady.

When I was in college I had rolled my ankle playing basketball, so I went to the campus healthcare. They had me take a generalized anxiety questionnaire. Instead of walking out with a wrap or pain meds for my ankle, I had a month supply of Xanax. And I found how easy it was to get addicted to the feeling of it and always wanting more. Within three months I had prescriptions for max doses of Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, and Ambien. All from different doctors. I went from using it to help with testing anxiety to needing it to get through the day without anxiety. I remember I would often listen to this song because I felt like Em and I could relate as addicts of the same type of drugs. That was in the early 2010's. Now I find myself unintentionally an addict of stimulants. If I don't take them I sleep for days straight, but if I take them I'm the best worker in the world. I just get a ton of heart palpitations and anxiety, which causes me to balance it out with Klonopin. I feel like I'm in this endless cycle of taking a med because I'm actually looking for help and then I find I have to balance it with another, and then the strength of each increases over time and I can't simply get off of it anymore.

    • @larryshair
      @larryshair  2 года назад

It's an incredibly hard cycle to break. It can be done, but so very hard. One of my friends sister is hooked on heroin and she takes meds to stay "normal". Such a hard hood to break. Respect and blessings to you my friend.

Notice the artwork for this album. That's a mosaic of pills making his face. Also, when you opened the CD case, the CD art was the top of a prescription bottle and of course, when you take the CD out, there's artwork of a bottle full of pills behind that.

The Relapse CD was EHH like Em himself even said, but this is one of the few tracks off of it that are meaningful and relatable. Another track off Relapse I like is Old Times Sake. I like that song because of the beat and it's a nice laid back carefree track with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent on it as well.

    Chris @7:58
In early recovery we are taught "first thought wrong" because, like in this song that guy in Em's ear will ALWAYS be there for us. Year's later the voice gets less loud but it will never go away. Part of the recovery is knowing the voice is there, knowing your addict mind will try to justify it but knowing that first thought is wrong and will lead back to what your trying to stay away from.
I've been Meth free for 9 years now.
    Wanting to use is difficult.
But it always beats wanting to quit, I never want to feel that again.

So psyched you did this one! I requested this back when you did "When I'm Gone". It's one of his most powerful songs when it comes to talking about addiction and one of my favorite songs of his. Definitely a bit of a hidden gem when you compare it to the popularity of many of his more well-known songs. You gave some great advise and insight here.
Btw, you totally called me out with that Deshaun bit! Salute to you, sir!

  • @JustChrisWillDoTa

Brilliant, really pleased you're reacting to this one. It's so good, and is possibly my fave Em track.
It really speaks to me. As a recovering addict myself, I can say this song is just so true, everything in it. I have no musical talent, nevermind talent like Em, but I swear listening to Deja Vu it is like it could've been written by me. Everything about how that voice in your mind convinces you to take more drugs by rationalising it in some way. Even little things like hiding things in video tape cases as he says in the song, is accurate to my experience of drug addiction.
Kind of hard to put into words exactly what I mean, but this song just resonates with me so much, and I'm sure it describes how addiction is for millions of other ppl, as well as me.
Eminem's music has genuinely helped me with coming off drugs as well. I remember years back when I hadn't been on it that long, I did cold turkey off heroin just curled up in front of a huge speaker with Marshall Mathers LP on full blast. It didn't take for good that time, but listening to Em, and having it on so loud so I could feel it while my body hurt so much from withdrawals actually helped me get through that cold turkey.
Don't get on drugs anyone. It ruins your life so much.
