Interesting Rick. Great for people that have both the Osmi Action and Osmo Mobile (all three versions). Thanks, you just gave me an idea to try and balance my GoPro 4K knockoff on my Osmo Mobile original version which is a tank. But when I think about it, its a lot of equipment and weight. My best solution is my Osmo Pocket which is awesome. The nice option of Osmo Pocket is the Wifi adapter to control remotely using the Mimi app. I love the Pocket, for me, it is the most convenient (non-action camera) 3-axis gimbal 4K camera with the best performance. The size and functionality are perfect for us YT creators. Happy Holidays.
I am also keen to converge my Hero8 and OsmoMobile3. Send word please, and thanks for the clear direct intelligent instruction on your videos! They’re great.
He Rick. I just got my Osmo Action adaptor and tried it out on the Osmo gimbal. Wow, how good is it.!! I found the instalation and setup easy and I used me mimo app to control the Osmo Action. I feel this will take my videos to a whole nother level !!. Thanks for sharing. Also delivery was super quick from the states to australia from your store. Hope to put up some videos soon.
That was really useful - thanks for making it. I have an Osmo Action, mainly for recreational use on the bike, and have started using the Osmo Mobile 3 with my phone for "guide to visiting" type vids - so I expect that using both together, with this mounting kit, will make a difference.
Graham, I was really surprised at how much the Osmo Mobile 3 helped to smooth out the video on the Osmo Action. Those two examples I showed with me walking down by the lake were impressive so I think it could help you a lot and also allow you to get some great panning shots of the area. Thanks for the post! Rick
Have you done a review of the GoPro Hero 8 with a Gimbal? I’d be interested in seeing a test on those products. I assume that the results would be the same. Thanks
Excellent test Rick. I was surprised at the difference the Mobile 3 made, and honestly I thought the Osmo Action would have done a little better just by itself, than it ultimately did. Well done!
I know... this is an old video.... BUT will the bracket and osmo action work with the OM4? I already have an OM4 and looking to buy the osmo Action.... TIA!
Hey rick nice fix...however noticed there is a mounting thread on the O3...near the phone holder...could we use that for to adapt a mount, say landscape only?
Can you use a filter with the Osmo Action camera along with the Osmo Mobile 3 Action Mounting Kit? Was thinking of buying the Osmo action camera along with filters. Wasn't sure if you could place a filter on the camera and still be able to use the Osmo Mobile 3 Action Mounting Kit to be used on a Osmo Mobile 3 Gimbal.
Hi Rick, these were some good tests. Looking at the video from the Osmo Action without the gimbal I have to wonder if you had Rock Steady turned on? That looked a lot shakier than I would have expected, even for us old(er) guys. 🙂 Thanks again for all your great insights.
Thankyou so much for this video... I had seen your previous video on the action plates.. But I ordered one just too try it out and guess what it didn't work... I even messaged dji to ask if they got a bracket no response... Was about to order the isteady 2 then saw this video... Wow so happy... Have just ordered the plate.. Hello engineer, i bought a similar one to this about 7 months ago from a Chinese online store and it looked quite cheap and plasticky. It also had limitations in its movements on the gimbal. Then i tried the Pgytech adapter for osmo action which is made of cnc aluminium, looked premium, smaller in dimensions and found it quite smooth on the gimbal for me fotages. Just giving you a tip. Thanks for the post and the PGY model was released after we started offering our model and we tested have tested it. The aluminum is sleeker but the added weight made the gimbal motors work a little harder and we noticed that they were warmer after about 1/2 hour of use. Ours is lighter and puts less strain on the motors so we're still happy with the choice and I use mine a lot. Do you know of one to mount the GoPro Session? I only have the GoPro Session. I am interested in the tracking technology. I am researching options but nothing seems to support the Session.
Hi Rick Great Review and I saw the older one where you failed to find a solution for either the Osmo Action or the Go Pro so it was keen interest that I watched the latest clip on the mount for the Osmo 3 as I have 2 Go Pros and an Osmo 3 and would dearly love to use the Go Pro's with the Osmo 3. Understandably I got excited when I saw the Go Pro on the desk and you started to say you had found a solution but it quickly turned to disappointment when you barely mentioned anything further about Go Pro and certainly no solution. Is there something that is out there now for Go Pro and Osmo 3 ? Would love to see if there is as good a solution as the Osmo Action adapter plate you reviewed . Thanks and great videos
Got the product, thanks! It looks great. Have you talked to anybody using this with the new OM4? I've been struggling with balancing. The osmo action cam and holder is lighter than my iphone, but the weight on the front of the holder makes it want to shake. I tried moving the weights to the front. I'm about to take material off of the printed holder, near where the action cam mounts.
I do a lot of them outside as well but the bricks are a little better looking than a blank wall. I'm working on revamping the studio this summer so it should be much cooler in a month or so. Consider subbing the channel so you don't miss any updates. Rick

I am much happier to stay in a 100% DJI/Drone Valley world. Hey Sean Ozz, will this work well in your snowboard action sport universe? Thanks for your well thought out solution Rick. Mahalo, Barry
Hi Rick ... I have the OSMO 2 and like you trying to find a way to use the OSMO Action with it without luck. I was considering selling the OSMO mobile 2 to get the OSMO Mobile 3. Will this bracket work with the OSMO Mobile 2. Thanks for the video
Old info. DJI now sells a mounting plate. What I really wanted to know is whether the Osmo 3 can control the Osmo Mobile via Bluetooth, and you quickly said no halfway in.
Thanks for the post but DJI doesn't actually make a plate for the Osmo Mobile 3 and the Osmo Action. The one they offer is from PGY tech and is for the GoPro series and won't work with the Osmo Action. The mount we offer was specifically made for the Osmo Action and works great. As you saw, the Bluetooth won't connect for control but it does provide some amazingly smooth recording.
Larry, I've tested it on both the Osmo Mobile 2 and the 3 and it works great on both of them. Thanks for the post and let me know if you have any other questions. I appreciate your support. Rick
Drone Valley: awesome job Rick. I really appreciated you doing this for us. I can’t thank you enough. Question: can I use this on my older GoPro 3 Black? Thank you so much...
Seriously.. Put it in Rocksteady Mode! I want to know the difference between onboard Rocksteady mode , and video with a 3-axis gimbal so I can use it for real estate walkthrough videos.
I SOLVED!! just putting a dark planck (plastic) between the go pro and the holder. I supposed that had a phone sensor there. The only bad is you cant see what youre recording
Thanks for the post but this is only designed to fit the Osmo Action. You'll need a different bracket for the GoPro 8 and here's on on Amazon that will work OK - amzn.to/3cbn6Nz
Can anyone tell me what the the total weight is for this Osmo Action Mounting Kit? I ask because the Osmo Mobile 3's max payload capacity is 240g. And the Osmo Action weighs 124g so that only leaves you with a 116 spare grams to work with if you want to stay within the limits of the Osmo Mobile 3's max payload capacity. I'm guessing that this mounting bracket weighs more than 116grams. (likely ~130g - 150g?) Exceeding the Osmo's weight payload will mean that you will use more battery because the motors are working harder than they should and you will put more stress on the Gimbal motors which could cause them to burn out sooner. (Analogy would be towing a trailer that weighs 10K behind your Ford truck when it's only rated to pull 8K...you'll burn more fuel when towing it and eventually you'll kill your engine and your transmission if you do it a lot. ). If the combined payload weight is not too much above the Gimbal's max payload capacity then you may be okay especially if you don't use this bracket too often...but I wouldn't add anything above and beyond just the Osmo (e.g., no microphones, extra lenses, etc.) BTW does this accommodate the Osmo Action microphone adapter?
Thanks for the post and the unit is made from a composite material to keep it light but has counterweights in one end to balance out the camera. The total weight is around 120g and doesn't present an issue for the motors on the Osmo Mobile 3. We sold these for a long while and I've used mine for close to a year without issue. I hope that helps and we appreciate the support! Rick
@@Dronevalley Thanks for the quick response...Point of clarification...so are you saying that it's 120g inclusive of the weights needed to balance the camera or is it 120g before you add the weights? You said "total" but I want to be absolutely sure. Cheers.
Thanks for the post but using the Osmo Mobile 3 really settled down the video on the Osmo Action quite a bit in both modes. You can see from the example where I'm walking down near the lake how much of a difference it makes. The mechanical gimbal really helps with smooth video.
This is not true. The 2 stabilization mechanisms work differently. The Osmo Action, being an action camera, stabilizes the small vibrations like a bumpy dirt road much better than a gimbal would. A good application would be mounting it on a mountain bike. A gimbal in turn is much better at stabilizing bigger movements, like walking.
Way better in the Gimble. I have some places that I cant fly because of airspace and National park areas it’d going to make a hugh difference. Some of these places sre Veteran War Memorials. I will be producing a Veterans Day Memorial video
Whats going on with inventory? Love the product have a mountain of DJI equipment but your out of stock on this item. Fellow You Tube Creator now a sub to your channel.
So many choices. I still prefer the OSMO Pocket for most video applications. It can fit in your pocket. No one seems to notice it or, if they do, they are much more relaxed. On the other hand, in or around water or on a ski slope, the OSMO Action seems to be the camera of choice. Then there is the near camera replacement ... the iPhone 11 Pro which is always with you, can take photographs in darkness, has a great wide-angle lens, and has enough stabilization to shoot most video situations with exceptionally smooth footage. Finally if mega-pixels is important, you can go to the 5-axis stabilization of the Nikon Z7. Maybe too many choices !!!
@@tonabnehmer Never owned either, but just bought the Osmo Mobile which did NOT work with the GoPro. I think the Osmo may do more for a little less. $$$. I fly DJI drones and love the company with their 70% market share. For me, as an avid flyer and DSLR shooter, I think the Osmo Action will be ordered later today. Please let us know what you do.
Paul, thanks for the giggle there! I just realized that I used the word wobble 3 times in about 30 seconds in the clip so I need to go on a diet! Stay tuned for more content this week. Rick

The mount adapter makes sense when you use functions of the osmo action in which rocksteady cannot be enabled, like HDR video or high frame rate video
Gimbals make good stabilisation great! And like you say, some functions have no in camera stabilisation.

Cheers.
Great vid. Phone works fine for me but looks damn cool.
The only practical use with gimbal is when you set the OSMO Action on HDR mode then the stabilization is deactivated.
Sure that during the walking test without the Osmo Mobile the rock steady was on? Looks too shakey
PROBLEM: with this "adapter" you cannot use the microphone adapter!
The further we go in camera stability the more people expect.
Currently unavailable 😒🤐 Oh BLARUM!
You would think since they are the same brand both from dji there would be a bracket readily available from Dji. 🤦♂️🤷
Just returned my GoPro Hero 8. Now, it is time to buy the Osmo Action. Thanks!
Is Osmo Action better?
@@tonabnehmer Never owned either, but just bought the Osmo Mobile which did NOT work with the GoPro. I think the Osmo may do more for a little less. $$$. I fly DJI drones and love the company with their 70% market share. For me, as an avid flyer and DSLR shooter, I think the Osmo Action will be ordered later today. Please let us know what you do.
"... And we also include the sunshield." - So you are selling those brackets?
Yes, we offer these on our website - tinyurl.com/yx4pf2v8. They work and will allow you to easily add your Osmo Action to the bracket. Rick
Kludges are kludges. Meh. It's bizarre that DJI does not sell a gimbal just for the Osmo action.
Wow
David, thanks for the Wow. I hope you enjoyed the content and be sure to sub and stop back soon for more clips I'll be posting. Rick
Thanks for the review but you speak a little bit too fast, sir. :)
Webles wobble but they don't fall down lol great video though 👍
Paul, thanks for the giggle there! I just realized that I used the word wobble 3 times in about 30 seconds in the clip so I need to go on a diet! Stay tuned for more content this week. Rick
working on something new ? special ? different ?
You can probably make great videos, just stop beating around the bush too much please. Everyone knows that you can record stable video while in a car travelling on the road - that whole test was unnecessary.
