      Surprising, as I recall it was a gas 350 converted to Diesel, and the internals had issues as they were not upgraded for the higher compression of Diesel.

    Those front fenders are from a 1979 98, the only year of the run (77-79) with no marker lights in the front fenders. The entire nose cone and grill are off a 1977.
    If you read the window thing it indicates a lawn mower hit it and repainted the nose. LOL.

      @@user-pb3dt6yl8m Olds did have Firethorn in '77 though (neighbor had a '77 Delta 88 in Firethorn). Think Firethorn went from '75 through '77. The Carmine that replaced it was a bit deeper red.

      @@CSmith-gb1sl that’s a good possibility.
      But I sold Oldsmobiles from 78-80. I ordered the cars too.
      I believe, the “ FIREMIST” colors were available only on 98 and Tornado.

      @@user-pb3dt6yl8m I see Cadillac called their code 67 "Saffron" (separate brochure), & Firethorn Irid. (Iridescent?) crosses with Code 36 (Firethorn Poly PPG (I had a quart of this). I don't see firethorn in the Caddy brochure, but I have seen them in Firethorn. I get a lot of hits on the 77 Delta Firethorn in "for sales" (nice one in Canton OH). What was the difference between firemist & a regular metallic? Firemist is a upcharge I see.
      Edit: I see what you mean, Saffron a shade darker, really mimics Firethorn. Perhaps the '98 came in Saffron, & the Delta came in Firethorn?

    Great car! I am confused though. This car has a front end design belonging to a 1977 olds 98 while everything else screams 1978. What gives?

    • @cousinjohncarstuff4568
      @cousinjohncarstuff4568  Год назад +1

      I can only guess an unsold 77, and Olds did whatever to have it rebranded as a '78? Not really sure. Was not able to check the door sticker for date of manufacture. Might have given us a clue.

    • @bryanpreston3595
      @bryanpreston3595 Год назад +1

      Yes, you're right, it is a 1977 front end. But is 1978 rear end. Not sure what really happened to it. I know it has low miles, but I do not like the '77 as good as the '78 or '79. 1979 model is my favorite tho.

    • @dfwajmark
      @dfwajmark Год назад +2

      Still a beautiful car. But something happened to that front end. Even the front side light markers are missing. Side markers for the 77 were on the fenders and the 78/79 were attached to the headlight housing. I’m thinking it might have been in a accident and replaced with a 77. The olds factory wouldn’t have made this mistake while rolling off the line.

    • @bryanpreston3595

      @@dfwajmark you're right, twice. Still a beautiful car and General Motors would not use a leftover front end on the next year model.

    • @groovy1937
      @groovy1937 Год назад +3

      Yes, it is a 1977 front end and 1978 rear end. Rear tail lights look a little tired to me and the Oldsmobile badge looks worn, not like a what a mint car should be. It doesn't appear to have cornering lamps in the front either. The power antennae has been replaced, the original type did not have a chrome bezel screwed down on the fender like the one it has. The interior appears very nice. Must have been in a front end collision, maybe a repaint too. I love the color combo but I am suspect about this car.
