Oso landslide video: Devastated site memorializes victims, teaches about risks

- Ten years after a catastrophic landslide killed 43 people in the Steelhead Haven neighborhood, a new memorial offers a place for reflection. Meanwhile, scientists work to better understand what caused the Oso landslide to try to avoid deadly disasters elsewhere.

Would be nice to see more engagement on this video. Developers and builders need resources to help them plan their work in such a way that doesn’t put others at risk. The state should be more vigilant in monitoring areas that pose this kind of threat to the communities in Washington state.

I blame Snohomish County. They knew John E Pennington had raped a child in Cowlitz Co WA, had been arrested for and charged with beating a 3rd trimester pregnant woman (2009), was off moonlighting on the east coast in violation of Snohomish Co Ordinance that prohibited salary employee from holding any other job when Oso happened, and was labeled a sociopath and autistic with no empathy for human life by Dr Marcia Hedricks (King Co) in charge of emergency management. Pennington is also the prime suspect in missing children in 5 states including native kids. John Lovick, executive, had been found guilty of masturbating in front of a six-year-old child but did Association of WA Cities and Bob Ferguson do? They paid off the victims and allowed both to hold government jobs that they had no education for nor experience to hold.
Wtf?
I lived about 30 mi from Oso when this happened. I remember watching it on the news and they showed this incredible footage of a car driving on the main highway with dash cam when suddenly the truck in front of it was swept away by a wall of mud, trees and debris. The guy with a dash cam survived the landslide. I've tried to look up this video on RUclips but can't find it anywhere. It was on the news at the time.
May Father have mercy on thier souls, and the families and community continue to seek peace.
