Cost is the biggest factor. If they can build it here and keep the cost DOWN, it could outsell the Tacoma/4runner. It depends what Toyota wants... marketshare or profit margins.

I’m curious where this would fall in the price range. I feel like Ford’s main sales pitch for the Maverick was “you could get a sedan like a Civic or Corolla, OR for a similar price, you could have a pickup truck! and why wouldn’t you want a pickup truck?”
If Toyota wanted their Stout to compete with the Maverick, it’d have to be similarly priced. Would they cannibalize Corolla sales for the truck? Lower Corolla prices? Improve the Corolla’s value proposition as a proper car?

I’d like to know why they’re bringing a corolla PHEV?
The corolla hybrid in low trims is already a better deal than prius if someone needs a cheap hybrid. But the prius offerea more tech and power. However the camry offers a better deal than the prius in my eyes and PHEV is where the prius shines. But add a corolla PHEV and prius will be too expensive in hybrid and PHEV so everyone will opt for camry hybrid of corolla phev and forget about the still slightly odd looking prius with a small trunk.

Toyota's strategy as a global carmanufacturer turns out to be brilliant. Multi pathway environmental solutions, brilliant. Collaboration with Suzuki, Subaru in development of first gen EV'S....brilliant. investing billions in gigacasting, fuel ceel, solid state, bev's 2.0.....also the right decision.
Ev sales collapsed in France, Germany this year, same will happen in the Netherlands next year. Incentives are scrapped, all over Europe. Hybrids are enormous popular.
And best part, Toyota upgrades and improves their cars every year with model updates.
Have to say, compared with a Golf, Astra, or Rensult, a new Toyota CHR or Corolla is way better build, more reliable and far far more efficient.... .
    Toyota does a great job.

EV market share in Europe has dropped from 14% in 2023 to 13.2% in 2024 - hardly a collapse.

If they give it the Stout name it's a guaranteed success. I do wish though that it was going to be based on the Camry platform with the 2.5l hybrid powertrain instead of the Corolla's platform. The Camry is faster, larger, and gets better mpg than the Corolla does. But if they made it similar in size to the Tacoma, the Tacoma's sales would fall flat on it's face. So I can see why they're making it smaller. Plus it will be more affordable being based on the Corolla.

I highly doubt the stout will enter the US. Its gonna cannibalize tacoma sales, n toyota doesnt want that. As bad as the taco’s rep is being crapped on, its still king of american midsize pickup.
I also thought it would be a good idea for toyota to bring in the Stout to bring the fight to the Mav and Ridgeline… but then i gave it a second thought in regards to the Taco.
Ofcourse, im happy to be proven wrong.

New Tacoma is a excellent class leading mid size truck and number one selling in its segment as well. Miles better than the old one and opinion of those haters are invalid. Importantly regarding this stout. If ford can offer the f150 ranger and the maverick. Then it should be no problem for Toyota has well but because of one person we might not get this.

    • @arsyadidris6349
      @arsyadidris6349 12 часов назад

@ numbers talk, so if anything, im personally waiting for the end 2025 sales for the taco. Yes, its still king, and on paper, its a far better vehicle than the prev taco. But perception still matters, n i would give it another year. From what i see anyways.
Coz when youre number one, your only competition is your previous self. And the current taco isnt doing so well compared to previous gen. For now atleast.
As for the ranger n mav, again, it comes down to the Taco: should toyota offer another midsize truck if they see Taco sales stagnate in the coming years, so as to supplant it? Or do they risk the Stout eating up taco sales?
Personally? I hope im wrong and they do sell the Stout In the States, like i said in my prev comment. Coz it would be great for customers to have more options, and it would be in line with toyota’s hybrid/full electric powertrain campaign.

@@arsyadidris6349 1. During Q3 TO Q4 Toyota sold 100.661 even without the Dec numbers. Compared to 97.344 2023 again without even the Dec numbers. Fact is Toyota would have sold 200k or more. If not for the change over period something even affected the gm twins at the start. In general the Tacoma will remain the number one selling mid size truck even with the excellent rivals like GM twins. 2. just because bunch of hardcore enthusiast online whining and crying don't mean anything. 3. Stout won't affect the Tacoma sales whatsoever in my opinion. instead it Will very much kill off the Santa Cruz and take lots of maverick hybrid sales away from ford. Overall fact is there is a good chance that the Stout won't even come here because of one policy which you know I am talking about.
