NICE!!! I think it sits perfect Brad and I love the way this is coming together!! FWIW I'm running 2" lowering blocks in my '55 also with Cal-Tracs and it works great. Point being I think you'll be fine either way. I still can't get over how cherry that body is a keep up the great work!! I remember the seat bracket video but didn't really care who you stole the idea from because Montana Garage is where it's at!!!
Haha thanks a ton Dave. The body is pretty good, but may look better on video than it really is as it has a few issues. Could be much worse for sure though. I appreciate the info on the Caltracs. Hoping it works great for me as well.
Thanks! Me likey too! The disc brake rotors where on, just didn't have the caliper in there yet. I appreciate you looking out for me though, as I need all the advice I can get!
She's a roller again! Those Drag Stars look awesome! Deflating the tires to get them into the wheel wells sure brings back sime memories! 🙄🙄 The leaf springs will definatly settle some more. The car looks like it is just begging to go down the track. You used BW's idea and he watched you at every point of the bracket build...hahaha! Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next one!
Thanks man. That is awesome. I would definitely get a kick out of a '55 themed mini bike. Send pics to montanagarage55@gmail.com if you want. I'd love to see it. I have a mini bike I need to get going myself soon...
Drop my 55 is dropped 2" and I'm wonder how the stance will look. On yours, keep in mind your fuel will add weight, battery add to it and your springs will settle. It's looks good.
Seat brackets from BW’s garage. He was creeping around the shop. Great job on the install. It should settle down nicely and get you where you want to be.
They are open face. I need to check the rule book again, but I think the stud needs to go past the wheel face whatever diameter the stud is. So in my case, that is 1/2 inch. The studs do not stick out of the lugs nuts, but they do go further than 1/2 inch past the wheel, so I think I am good there. Longer studs will just make it harder to get the wheels on/off. Thanks for watching!
I like the Quick rear end, gives me a good part I needed 2 add 2 my hrdtop. U give me a lot of good advice on restoration. Might need advice on different stuff I need 2 redo. Definitely go back 2 Weld and get me a set of Pro Star wheels!! Thanx
Fries are done....Burger King ad. That new rear end is looking pretty good. Those tires fill the wheel openings. Looks great. Stance wise it looks perfect IMO. But a little lower in the back would be good. Look forward to more on the '55. Pro-car bucket seat install....You borrowed the mounting bracket idea from BW over at BW's Garage. Been watching Bryan and Kim for a while now. Be safe and stay well.
BW garage. I put the same seats in my 57 but used the seat frame you can buy with it bc I put a console in my car. Seats set good but is alittle on the high side. It would be nice if that frame was 1/2 inch lower.
Thanks for watching and playing along. I read several reviews that said the seats ended up a bit high with that bracket, which is one reason I decided against it.
Thanks man. I am still struggling with the paint issue. It probably won't be painted any time soon, or if ever. I am getting so used to looking at it like this, maybe I'll just clear it and roll...
I think the stance is perfect You may get a little settling on the suspension is all broken in and I believe BW garage gave you that seat idea I belong to both channels I've been watching since the beginning
BW was the man!!! Rear end looks great. Id put your front clip on and adjust your front to your ride height then stand back and have a look at the stance. My mates 55 you need to drop the shocks and slip a jack between the spring and the body to get his meats off. Pain in the arse. Great video but where's you shop inspector Moose??
Thanks Johnny. I was afraid I was going to have to do that, or even drop the leafs but looks like I just have to struggle a bit and they'll squeeze in there. Moose should show up a bit in the next few videos...
Good morning Brad, this is Shawn from Southern Oregon. I was wondering wheel size in backspacing rear’s love the channel gathering parts to start 55 Chev build myself
Hi Shawn, thanks for watching. I used 15x10 wheels with 4 1/2" backspacing. The rear end is 55" long, and of course I did the mini tub and spring relocation to make it all fit. Good luck with the project!
Those flip fronts are cool, but not necessarily for me. I'll be going with the original front end set up on this one. Maybe if I ever build a gasser... Thanks Michael.
The wheels are 15 x 10 with 4.5 backspacing, tires are 29 x 14.5 - 15, and the rear is narrowed to 55" brake mounting surface to brake mounting surface. The car has been mini tubbed and the spring are relocated into the frame rails. It's tight, but it all fits. Thanks for watching.
Many thanks to BS over @bwsgarage for collaborating with you on the seat brackets 😁. I guess I should wait till the end to make comments, so you do not have several from me. With my old brain, I have to write it down or say what I want to say when I am thinking about it.
G'day Montana Garage My daughter borrowed my RUclips channel and now laughs at me because she knows i have no idea on how to borrow it back, anyhows dig your work and loven the rake on that old 55. Maybe finish loading her up with all her parts to get a better idea of how it wants to settle. Again keep up the struggle cheers Jason
Haha well tell Lillie hi! Good luck getting your channel back! I'm sure it'll settle a bit, and I'm sure I'll continue to struggle. Thanks for watching!
I agree with the statements below lookin very good and once you get the rear bumper on it may look a bit lower. Great job and yes I go out and just look at my project a lot when I don't have time to work on it.
Hey man thanks for watching. I did do a mini tub on the car. There is no video because I did that before I started doing RUclips. If you have questions about the process ask away and I may be able to help.
Blindly following the masses. Just kidding, kind of. The 9 inch seems to be the go to for those that make power, and my uncle liked, 'em. Good enough for me. Thanks for watching.
BW garage for sure, love the stance, still waiting for my QP 9", for my 55 it's been a few months. Letting the air out is common for big tire cars, no biggie. Struggles are real, help that lady into her jeans.
Looking awesome Brad. I am afraid when you get the disc brake rotor and calipers on, you may have to drop the springs to get the tires under it. Will be worth the trouble in my opinion, Once you are driving the car after it is build, it will be rare that you need to pull teh tires (except for Rocky Mountain Drags).
I think the stance looks great. It will still drop a bit more as the springs settle and you get a gas tank, fuel and such in it. Hope you are going to show us how you set the pinon angle and such. The trivia answer is Brian from BW garage. Mob on....
Hey Bud the stance looking good, just maybe raise the front a little bit will make the rear look like it down some. I been out the loop for awhile Been chasing Turkey 🦃 and got "Lucky" too get one 👍. PS That oh guy over at BW Garage is building a nice 55 he has some great ideas for sure, Keep it going man looking good 👍✌️
Car & rearend looks great stance and all .Lay a fender on to see the true perspective. Amazing you get that height and stiffness in the back with one leaf spring . What leaf spring is that?? I have 5 leaves on each side on my rear which I made years ago probably overkill after seeing your car. Enjoying your videos with your 55 regards ....Glenn
Yeah, I need to get a fender on there. Then I really won't be able to stop looking at it haha. The leaf springs are from Calvert Racing and designed to work with their Caltracs bars. They are kind of a race item, so they are stiff. Thanks for watching.
@@MontanaGarage Okay just googled Caltrac suspension I get it now kind of adjustable traction bars and stiff leaf spring cool. Thanks for explanation, Ha!
What is up with the silly "chic click bait"? Man that's false advertising. Other than that the video was good. And I think the stance is perfect. If anything, I prefer a little rake.
Thanks David. I'm just tryin to be clever and and get some eyeballs on the videos. Not sure it's actually clickbait, but a guys gotta try something, right?
Thanks for the opinion, even if it is dead wrong haha! Going a bit low on this one, so no nose high gasser or lifted streak freak type stance for me. Thanks for watching!

LOOOOOOKING GOOD Brad ! LIKE the CAR SITTING LEVEL, YOU CAN EASILY ACCOMPLISH this NOW BY RAISING the FRONT END .
You drinking again Bill? haha I'll definitely raise the front a bit, but probably keep a bit of rake. Thanks for the opinion and for watching!
It looks great brad ,awesome job…

Yep, I probably could have had them welded on, but figured I'd do it this way to be sure to get the pinion angle right...
