Overlapping Waves Lace Knitting Stitch

A very intricate pattern with ribs that twist, making them look like overlapping waves. Instructions below:

Overlapping Waves (Knit)
Multiple of 6+ 4
This pattern is a 10 row repeat.
K=knit
P=purl
yo=yarn over
ssk=slip, slip and knit these 2 stitches
Repeat from * to *
Odd number rows are the right side of knitting.
Row 1.- K2, * yo, ssk, k4. * last 2 sts, yo, ssk.
Row 2.- and all even number rows (wrong side rows).- Purl
Row 3.- K2, * yo, k1, ssk, k3; repeat from * to last 2 sts, yo, ssk.
Row 5.- K2, * yo, k2, ssk, k2; repeat from * to last 2 sts, yo, ssk.
Row 7.- K2, * yo, k3, ssk, k1* to last 2 sts, yo, ssk.
Row 9.- K2, * yo, k4, ssk* to last 2 sts, yo, ssk.
Row 10.- Purl
Repeat these 10 rows for work.

How many stitchesdid you cast on?and do you add four stitches for each 6 you cast on are do I cast on 36 stitch plus 4.with a total of40

It's a multiple of 6, plus 4 stitches. The sample shown has 28. That is 6 times 4=24 plus 4=28. So yes. it would be 36 (6x6=36) plus 4=40.
