The LEGENDARY Iconic Debarge
🔥🔥🔥Debarge has a huge catalogue. Their songs have been sampled so much.
Awesome band with tons of hits. Probably one of the most sampled bands by 90’s hip hop artists. You should also check out the band Switch featuring some of the older DeBarge siblings, plus El DeBarge’s solo hits. Very talented but extremely troubled family destroyed by domestic abuse and drugs.

The 70's-80's were special..!! The best songs recorded and played using the highest quality Japanese circuits ever produced to date! Modern Chinese based circuit quality pales in comparison! I found this song by accident while trying to make a playlist for debrage I can't lie but I'll probably listen to the song 10 times
I was a kid when this was out. Used to and still get goosebumps when I hear Bunny sing this song. It makes me cry to this day when Im really feeling it. Such a talented family, Luv the Debarges❤
DeBarge was fire. They were in line to be the face of 1980's Motown records but drugs and personal demons ravaged that entire family and cut their success short. As that what it was, they (El DeBarge in perticular) have a really nice catalog of music.

Your right, they(Debarge) was supposed to be the next Jackson Five. They had the voice. Back in those days “Lightskin African-American black” people had a edge over non-lightskin black people. Some people think they still do. Especially for women lightskin singers. But like Mumm-Ra said. Drugs and other tragic events in their life cut the success short. They had great voices. Then New Edition became that next Jackson Five group that R&B was looking for. I still believe Switch and Debarge were better singers then New Edition but New Edition took the torch and had so many hits with less issues. New Edition did have some drug problems but that didn’t effect their success like it did with Debarge. I’m bias bcuz New Edition is my favorite singing group but Debarge still had the better singing voices. No offense Ralph Tresvant, who still had a good voice, just not better then Debarge or Switch. But New Edition had much more hit songs.
@@mmcguire1970 oh yeah. I'm a huge New Edition fan as well. I agree they weren't as talented as the DeBarge family but I don't think they get the recognition they deserve either. N.E. blows New Kids on the block away but they're the ones people bring up when talking about who started the 80's boy band trend. It was New Edition, they need to stop that!! Love to see younger people being introduced to DeBarge though. 👍🏿
@@mumm-ratheeverliving2288 well, New kids on the block were a Pop group. They get talked about first in Pop culture world bcuz they were a popular all white male group. In the black world culture, we bring up NE that started the 1980 boy band. I love both Pop and R&B singers and groups. But Pop music will always get more recognition nationwide bcuz most(not all) white people(65% of Americans) like to listen to people who look like them. Its nothing wrong with this. Most black people listen to R&B music. However, Rap music is different. They say, most white people purchase Rap music. I don't understand that one. Remember, the biggest artist in the world in the 80s was Michael Jackson(Pop star). The second biggest artist in America during that time was Madonna. R&B was only big within the African-American community. I was born in the late 70's. I didn't experience looking at the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Temptations or Jackson Five. So my favorite group will always be New Edition.
Lastly, remember, New Kids on the block was considered the white version of New Edition. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But Maurice Starr discovered New Kids on the Block bcuz he wanted a white New Edition group. Maurice Starr discovered New Edition. Then later discovered New Kids on the Block.

DeBarge had a chance to completely own the '80s though they didn't quite make it due to all the tragedy though El had some pretty good success on his own. Their sound was so sweet and pure.
Here's a bit of trivia: El wrote "all this love" for Marvin Gaye who turned it down and so he cut it with his brothers and it became their first (or second, depends on how you calculate things) huge hit.

El Debarge just did an interview recently, saying Marvin did NOT turn ALL THIS LOVE down. the executives at Motown told him that lie...El found out later, Marvin Gaye LOVED the song. and would listen to it day, and night. Marvin's wife Janice told El this. right after Marvin was killed in 1984...ALL THIS CAME FROM EL DEBARGE HIMSELF. in a current interview/2022.

What an Outstanding R&B Band of the 80s Who made plenty of Hits that will Never get Old. Although there were Personal Problems Going On with them, They Managed to make so many Great Songs that will Last a Lifetime. My Favorite was either "I Like It" or "Love Me In a Special Way." Good Stuff!
One of the Debarge brothers died. I think he was from the group Switch.

Hi Rod. You are correct. But I’m talking about recently. Like last week. I think it was El Debarge older brother. I know the lead singer of Switch died sometime ago.
Bobby died in 95 Tommy died last week
