My husband passed away 2 years ago and when I came across this video today I was swept back to my youth when we first fell in love and were listening to this music - I felt him here with me today so thank you- like they say “ gone, but love ❤ is not forgotten “ . I didn’t grow up listening to him but discovered his music when I found out Kirk Franklins “All This Love” was a sample. He’s so talented, and he’s 60?! He looks young lol

WOW-WOW-WOW!!! Even though this video is nearly two years old, I am SOOOOO glad it popped up on my 'Recommended' watch list! I've been a huge fan of El's since I was a child in the early 80s and I STILL play my DeBarge albums on a regular basis. I am totally, TOTALLY blown away that his voice is still so strong, beautiful and still sounds the same after all these years! Out of all the fantastic Tiny Desk concerts I've seen over the past few years, I gotta rank this one as my absolute favorite! BRAVO!!!

I grew up on El’s music in the 80’s, but I had no idea he was writing and playing on his own hits, because that wasn’t very common for R&B stars to be involved beyond the vocal performance. I gained a whole of new respect in retrospect, because his hits were actually great compositions and piano performances in their own right.
It was common that R&B stars wrote and produced hits. It was just stolen from them with terrible contracts. His brother Tommy Debarge, Founding member of the R&B group Switch wrote did the same.
C'mon now really ? Who did you think we're writing them? U need to start reading at the bottom credits on the records or music streaming or whatever but I really think everyone knew except u
I'm not sure how this ended up in my feed but I am forever grateful. I grew up on DeBarge and adore the family performing together and individually. El was blessed with an amazing gift. Absolutely beautiful performance but such a tease. This should've been at least a whole hour!
These songs, El’s voice is like a Time Machine! Wow, so many memories, emotions, good, bad, sad, wonderful, heartache, and everything have flooded back to my consciousness! For me it was grade school.. remember having those crushes and listening to Debarge. Can't imagine kids nowadays listening to this kind of music. What a shame.
Today is a snow day and I was able to share this music with my little one. That in itself is amazing. For her to be able to see him in "concert," is a gift. NPR really gives it up every time.

EVERY time I hear Time Will Reveal no matter where I'm at I have to fight off tears and get my composure because it makes me think of my mom who passed away when I was 16..I'm now 53 and it never fails..including this time. Blessings to you El
came to the states at the age of 8 in the mid 80s to a poor rundown hood of Brooklyn, were the bodegas blasted merengue and salsa, the boys rap, but once in a while El could be heard coming from someones window. Nice memories thanks EL.
The most talented family ever to bless a recording studio and the music industry since the J5, I've been a DeBarge enthuiast since there first release in '81 I'm 66 now, retired, living in the Philippines and I still listen to Debarge and Switch in 2024.
