- How to remove the instrument cluster cover for Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 models. This is done on a facelift 2014.
Going to change the instrument cluster trim and the trim for the ac-unit, because for some reason is really rare they come with the trim here in Sweden. I don't like the black plastic look. Unfortunately I bought the wrong trim pice, but I show all the steps how to do it for your car. Авто/Мото
Welcome back Sir very much obliged for
boss, your car looks really nice.
Thank you for showing us.
👍
You are a big profissional man ..
Thanks for sharing your execellent good work ... keep doing that .. i learn a lot.. big thanks
You made a clean job
Bonjour Super vidéo 🛠️❤️
What do you think is it hard to remove cluster, odometer?
I need to clean the glass on the inside because somehow the marks from chemical got in... and do you know how to take of cluster?
I need this too, did you ever find a video helping you?
Wow, these cars come apart easily.
How do you remove the bezel where the gauges are? The one behind it
Is there anything you can do for the interior trim of the dash and cluster to not squeak when i press it or when i drive on a rough road? It drives me crazy sometime and i just want to know if removing and lubracting it would make any differnce🙏🏼thanks
That’s a good question, I don’t have experience that kind of issue so far so I don’t really have any good answer.
Could some rivets be missing from the panels? I think if some previous owner had them removed.
How can I pull the speedometer plastic off to clean it? Blemish on the other side are annoying the hell out of me
Swapped out Mercedes' lame wiring for the ambient lighting that only supported 3 colours for my 2016 CLS400 so I had to take out the dash, and each door panel. I did the left vent near the steering wheel a bit differently tho. I now have 12 colours.
I checked into that, but is kinda much work and admiring you doing it. But for me not sure I kinda used to the orange light in the interior 🙈 But never know could be a future project!
You actually got me now, looks much cooler and better then what I thought. Would be a nice how to video as well. I put this on hold for so long much project right now. But definitely coming back to you sir 🙌
@@MB212 It actually looks much better in person. Those pictures are from an iPhone 12 Pro max, but for some reasons, the colours look a bit off except for the first two pictures of blue/purple.
The sound of those parts being removed always make me think they're gonna break into pieces! haha
Had to remove them on my W204 to fix some dash noises, it's a bit easier but the process is very similar.
True, actually in the edit of the video I think they did a lot of cracking noise 😂 Unfortunately I had to redo it as soon I get the right trim pice but is not much of a deal when I don’t have to video it.
Most of nowadays brands use PC+ABS and Polypropilene Plastics on dashboards to comply with crash test regulations. Here the cluster cover is made of PC+ABS, is quite hard and makes those squeaky noises, smaller parts will break easily like fasteners or assembly guides if not handled with care. Plypropilene is more soft and flexible, but also fragile, fasteners are more likely to torn instead of break, example of this are door trim covers or glove box lids
Thanks interesting information!
Nice
How do I want to buy this product?
Hey MB212, I have noticed that you have pretty extensive knowledge about w212 and Mercedes in general. I have a pre-facelift w212 and wanted to upgrade the instrument cluster to facelift one.
Do you know if things like options and gearbox matter? For example some models are with 5-speed gearbox where the different positions are ordered horizontally on the dash, but others with 7-speed gearboxes are vertical. Is this up to the coding of the cluster or these are 2 separate clusters?
Well it depends, you want to facelift the interior to 5S1 or NTG 4.5/4.7?
Thanks for the reply, but already did the swap from a W212 facelift@@isaacshehri3780
Is that some kind of a factory option? Because mine does have this trim and your's not.
Yess! For some reason is rare to have it here especially facelift, same goes for the ac-unit trim.
10k🤝🎉🎉
Thanks bro 🙏 Pretty cool so many like to see my content ☺️
I dont really see a difference in color of the IC trim :D
The old is solid black plastic, and the new have the option for trim pice, in my case 736 black ash. Check again ; )
Removing these things is never a problem but putting them back 😬😬😬
Actually I would say after doing all stuffs with the car is extremely easy to remove and more easy to put back, some parts could be bit hard to remove without braking any clips.
Next Step get the IWC clock ...lol...
Actually is in the buy list 🙄
Nice
