- Rolex Datejust not serviced for many years, possibly decades and it was sold as fully serviced!
Very difficult to wind. It feels that something is going to give. Many parts are worn and need replacing.
Rolex Datejust, calibre 3035, 36mm, white gold fluted bezel and sunburst silver dial.

@@MacroTime28800 you are a pro... you understand each part and its purpose- great vid
probably a sizable bill for the owner, but well worth it
@@callaway19647 thank you!

Definitive The BEST watch repairing youtube channel on earth. Inspired me a lot. Thank you.
Wow, thank you! 🙂👍
Just wanted to say that color grading of the video is fantastic ! Looks like a vintage documentary filmed on film
Thank you! I don't really know anything about colour grading. I play around with it a little and hope for the best 😊
Thanks, you are really an honest man when you mentioned that you can find the manual online.
Thank you!
Yes, the manufacturer always produces a service manual for the watch repairers. Not all, but many can be found on the internet, just like this Rolex 3035 👍
The way you explain each part in each video is really appreciated also. Thank you. You are my favorite watch service video. Keep it up!
Glad to hear you enjoy my videos 😊
Leo, your detailed videos of watch services are marvelous tutorials for beginning watchmakers. Many thanks for what you do.
Glad you like them!
Worth the wait. I particularly enjoyed the defect diagnosis.

If I ever get my true grail which is a vintage datejust 1967-1972 with a silver dial, I want YOU to service it and get her running as near to perfection as possible. 🙏🏼👍
By the way.. ... What year is this one?? She's stunning!!
Sounds great!
1987 - one of the last 3035 movements
Liking to penny pinch,I hate to say this but it must be said. This is an art,it's becoming a lost art,i believe RUclips pushes others to get involved in this type of service. The part I hate to say, money is no object in this case.I really enjoy your work and attention to detail...
Thank you, nice to hear you enjoyed it!
I’d say that the art is perhaps in designing the movements rather than servicing them 👍
Always look forward to seeing a new video from you Leo.
Thank you! 🙂
This is pure inspiration !.🤔
Thank you!
Beautiful view of all details never seen anything like this before.
My compliments and waiting for the next one perhaps on a oyster perpetual date caliber 1575.

ps Your accent has me utterly stumped! It sounds Dutch/German but having lived in the UK for some time. Not that it matters, I just found it perplexing :)
Thank you! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it.
I’m from Czech and even though I spent most of my life in the UK the accent is still there 🙂
@@MacroTime28800 Thank you for your reply.......I wasn't a million miles away on the accent! Now I'm going to say you've spent sometime in Liverpool or pretty close to it :)
You're right. I'm close to Chester 👍

This video is 24:20. I would like you to show more detailed repairs, Your microscope repairs are the best I have seen. Thank you.
Check out my other videos, they are much longer and detailed.
Here’s a prime example, purely jewelling, tools in detail and how they are used:

Wow, nice filming
Thank you!
Absolutely the best macro photography! Is it microscope or photo camera with macro lens? Or both? Thank you for the great video!
Thank you! Just a macro lens, that's all 👍
Great video quality, love the comment
Much appreciated! 🙂🙏
Very impressed with the shots! What setup do you use to film this? A microscope?
I use a macro lens 👍
Thank you for watching video. I wonder where are your nation? additionally, ethnically your nation too.
Nice
Thank you!
Well done. I'd like to learn a bit about you if you don't mind. Are you a professional watchmaker? Retired? Active? Expert amateur watchmaker? Absolutely outstanding video. Also I love seeing watchmaker's setups and 'offices'. Cheers to you mate.
Thank you!
This is only a hobby I do in my spare time. Evenings, weekends, in the spare room when I get a chance to work on watches 👍
Even the very best watches need regular servicing , which explains why so many people just go with a quartz watch which will probably last 20 or more years with care .
Yes quartz is cheaper
Even Rolex have plastic part 😂
And everyone complains about Seiko 🙂
Curious. Epilame is used to hold oil in specific places. Pallet fork jewels, escape wheel, wheel pivots, Inca block jewels. Ive heard the if the fork of the pallet fork has epilame on it, the impulse jewel hitting it will create a fine powder and potentially damage the parts. I would think the would be the same might happen with epilame on the second hand. There is no oil used on this so why the epilame? Just wondering... Is lubeta the same as epilame? Im also under the impression lubeta is used for the automatic winding parts. Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Epilame repels lubrication. I run the movement for a short while to wear out the epilame on the pallet stones and the escape wheel. Then I lubricated the escapement.
Yes, that’s correct, the roller jewel hitting the pallet fork causes an issue if the whole pallet fork is dipped in epilame.
The second wheel, I see your point. I’ve never heard of anyone mentioning any issues with it and Rolex service guide tells you to treat it with epilame.
Lubeta is a lubricant, epilame alters the tension of the surface to repel lubricants 👍
@@MacroTime28800 Awesome. Great info. If Rolex says use it, that's the gospel. Thank you!!!!!!
@@skudworth1983 My pleasure!
2 years ago I bought an omega Seamaster 300m from 1999 from a grey market dealer. It was a nice store but the day after I bought it, I noticed the watch stopped at night. And it didn’t run within chronometer specifications. I brought it back and they serviced it and since then it works fine. I wonder if they just tried to get away without servicing the watch.
I'm afraid I couldn't tell whether it was serviced or not. It's only when you open it and start inspecting it you'll find out whether it was serviced or not.
I need you to make more videos
Will do!
👍🏻👍🏻
👍
How would I go about getting you to service my 94 Rolex oyster?
