What happens when a mechanic daily wears his Rolex?...
You get this, possibly the WORST condition watch I've ever had pass through my hands.. From every crack and crevice being filled with dirt, to the poorly running 3035 movement. Piece by piece this datejust 16030 is restored to its former glory!
As always, thanks to everyone for the continued support if you have a project for me feel free to reach out!

Brilliant, my friend Pete. Once again, you made it look amazing, beautiful, beautiful, and great content as always....until next time peace, Viva watch making..
appreciate it! thanks for watching
I really like this restoration. It respects the history of this watch.
Thank you!
Great video, Pete. I’ll be in the minority when I say I LOVE that this guy wore his Rolex through hell and high water. So many guys baby their Rolex and agonize over every ding or scratch. Sure- this was extreme- but respect to the guy for getting his money’s worth out of the brand.
Very true! He definitely enjoyed it.. maybe a little too much but hey it’s still running 😂
At the end of the day it's a mass produced stainless steel watch not some precious artifact
Mine is over 40 years old and I go nuts on it too!
This type of video is your bread and butter. I'd watch these videos from start to finish everyday. Great job duder.
I appreciate that! Thank you man🙏🏻
Wow. Awesome work.
Thank you so much 😀
Fun video, if a little schifoso at the start 😅😅. But the results were great. New to the channel, I will deffo check out more.

Fantastic job Peter! Great video
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching👍🏻
You have to admire a one watch guy who loved it so much he never took it off. He shoulda looked after it, but man it proves how touch Rolex is.
Great job!
Hey take it easy fella, dirt will not kill you.
So there WAS a watch in that dirt!!! Fantastic

Wow, thank you! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
you a bad man pete, amazing work
You the man, thanks for watching
‘It’s been personally smoking’
All I can see in my head is a Rolex with a cigarette 🚬 sticking out of the date window 😂
🤣🤣 I swear it literally smelled like a cigarette absolutely insane
I'm a polish case guy , no sentimental scratches and patina for me...let it have another new start !!!!!! Great job !
Same here to an extent!😂 thanks john🙏🏻
Another great restoration. Letting such a beautiful watch get in that bad shape should be atleast a little bit illegal in my opinion.
HAHA I said the same thing it's a crime! one of the worst pre owned pieces ive ever seen! thanks for watching
When my wife’s aunt passed away I was given the task of dealing with her watches. She had some very nice vintage and modern watches. Every one of them was packed with her dna on the backs of the case and bracelets. I ended up spending time cleaning them before taking them to my watchmaker for service and cleaning.
Love the vid! I’m starting to learn watch servicing and would love to see a video of what tools you use (budget vs expensive), what fluids you use in the cleaner and ultrasonic and any tips etc.
Love your videos Peter and very happy for you. I visit your website daily. Hope to add to my collection soon!
Awesome, thank you! Appreciate you tuning in🙏🏻
thanks for sharing bro...
My pleasure
Looks very sharp after the refurbish
Thank you appreciate that!🙏🏻
You are the man
Another absolute banger! ❤
Thanks Nick! Appreciate it🙏🏻
Wow!!!! Your so fortunate to be so talented and knowledgeable. Why did you ever work for anybody. You got the world by the short hairs. Absolutely amazing. So glad your on your own. Like I've said before don't burn out, and get plenty of rest and family time. You will have plenty of wealth so enjoy your non work life... happy 2024 the year of Peter...stay healthy.
Jim you’re the man! Thank you for the support and kind words appreciate it a ton!👍🏻
The previous owner's DNA is all over that watch! I really enjoyed your video.
crushing it dude.
appreciate you and the support!! thanks for watching
Love your content, personality and your talent!!
Thank you appreciate it !!🙏🏻
Peter the GOAT.
Appreciate you🙏🏻 thank
Way to go, man. I’m not particularly a fan of the idea of grey-market watch dealers. But a few more videos, and I might be convinced to try one-you. Keep it going, man. Great work, and good luck!
Appreciate you! Thanks for the support and for tuning in!🙏🏻
Peter you are killing it !!! Wishing you nothing but success .. good things happen to good people . While LB is busy making cartoonish videos about making a fake sale to mr beast !!
I appreciate you thanks for watching and supporting! 🙏🏻
I wear my watch all the time but i also clean it lol this watch had so much arm cheese i nearly puked lol 😂 good job i really enjoy this ,the turn around was awesome cheers.
Well used
Well done on growing your subscriber base.
Thank you appreciate you watching!
I love watches like this - doesn't matter what the exterior condition is, as long as the dial/hands were protected. And yes, I've seen watches with that much dirt. What's crazy is how they get all the dirt/mud *under* a rotating bezel! You pull the bezel and somehow it looks exactly like the lugs on your Rolex. How??? Great video, only wish you had shown your remedy for that frozen pin. My biggest annoyance is seized pins...
Well said! And it’s weird right, dirt is like water it’ll find its way into any small opening drives me nuts!
Also for the seized pin, let it sit in warm evaporust should free up the rust, and allow you to remove / replace
Any Roles is natural hazard? To the loss of your arm that is!!🇨🇦😄
Fantastic
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, beautiful restoration! How did you learn how to restore watches? I always find it so interesting. Such a cool skill to have. Is this watch still available?
Unfortunately it sold already ! Pretty much self taught with some help over the years but thank you for the comment and thanks for watching
I still wear my grey dial 16030 I purchased in 1982 when i was 19, it was 1,075.00 at bailey banks and biddle jewelers.
What a time to be alive!! The only brand to keep on ticking with minimal maintenance 😂
Compare this to the bizarre Nr Beast video by Luxury Bazaar, chalk and cheese. Well done as usual young man
Appreciate you🙏🏻 thanks for watching
Just my small 2 cents. I think thes type of videos are great but more catered towards people into watches a little more. Sales/negotations/IRL interactions/etc will likely get more views. Good luck with the channel!
When new, my early 1970's Datejust cost me $300. They weren't luxury overpriced items then, just finely made, accurate and wearable.
What a time to be alive!! Wish I could just buy every cool 5 digit piece they were making 😂
Yes, things were enjoyable then.@@Peterpic
It is still on my wrist, is accurate looks great.
Great video! Would you consider restoring watches a part from your inventory for sale? I have an old DJ in dire need of restoration (from mid 60s or so)
Hey yes! Please submit it on my website through the service request thanks
I can't see this on your website, can I ask what you sold this for? This is the exact watch (DJ, Size, Colour) etc and I'm just curious what these pieces are going for. Thanks Peter
Nice. Will you replace the cracked jewel in that bridge?
Yes, just needs to be punched out on the Staking tool I didn’t have a spare jewel laying around so I had to order one, being impatient I’ll just replace the part😂
Hey Peter, I have a random question for you. If you got water in your Rolex (leaving the crown unscrewed), would it make sense to fill the watch with oil or alcohol to try to avoid any rusting until you can get it to a repair shop?
Peter already answered this on another video. He said: "Alcohol maybe but once water is in there it’s pretty much counting down the clock until rusting starts, alcohol will also damage some parts"
As gross as this is, I could watch these videos all day long. Keep up the awesome work man.
Appreciate you man! thank you
Nice video! Just have some questions, where did you go to watchmaking school or are you self taught?
Self taught, with help over the years from some great watchmakers
@@Peterpic Very cool! Keep up the awesome content and work!
Damn son!!
😂 thanks for watching !
Nice work, totally agree with the sapphire. Plexi is utter rubbish.
Agreed, a lot easier to wear with the sapphire
It not dirt it's 39 Years of history
Time for history to go away, this history isn’t wanted here😂
How much this kind of work costs?
Agree on the Sapphire Crystal Upgrade .
Replaced a Date Just sans Cyclopes 😮
Gets a lot of Negative Attention from the Rolex lovers ,
as you might expect .
Did my Submariner ‘w Date too !
Heads exploded 🤯
Looks cool .
Label me a Heretic 😂
Yea the sapphire is without a doubt better! And I kind of agree sometimes no cyclops is better 😂
I noticed that you did not lubricate any of the parts or mainspring while reassembling the watch or maybe you did not show it.
yes I did, just didn't show every step filming these videos takes hours haha
Watches will get really filthy from dead skin combined with body oil. I do a superficial clean most of the time using a toothbrush. A spudger, a plastic tool used for some electronics, scrape accessible areas. Watches like most of my 200M dive types can be more extensively cleaned with very warm water with dish liquid in a plastic bowl.
Dear Sir;
Hope you are doing fine;
I want to buy a Rolex watch from a friend who has 2 watches for sale:
1- 16220 - silver dial - made 1991 - 36mm - steel Bezel & oyster bracelet - sapphire glass - 3135 movement.
2- 16014 - black dial - made in 1978 - 36mm - steel/white gold bracelet/Bezel - acrylic glass - 3035 movement.
Prices of both watches are nearly $5000 USD.
But the condition of the 16014 is somehow better than the 16220.
I need your advice, which one of them should I choose to buy?
Appreciate your time & advice;
Thank you
so how much? i dont see it posted on your site
Hey will be on the website tomorrow
Only time I ever seen a watch this dirty was from those fake instagram restoration where they find a $200,000 watch in the mud
Unfortunately this is not one of those😂 this thing was caked up with dirt!
Did you say the family sold the watch?
Why didn't you wear those 'finger glove' things when you were cleaning it?
They could've rinsed it off at least.
That's what im saying haha way too much neglect
Was the watch dirty ?😂
super clean !
That's a cumulative of years of dead skin and sweat. 😂
Many, many, many years of buildup 😂
You should have put gloves on 😂
Wow.. I have to say, I almost vomited when you took off that bracelet and exposed the end links. I happen to clean my watch once per week with a toothbrush and some mild soap. I can't even imagine leaving any timepiece like this, least of all actually wearing it in that state. But amazing transformation and restore. Well done.!!
👍👍👍
Thank you !
Has anyone ever seen a watch in worse condition?🤔
(fire & water damage aside😂)
Forgot about the hepatitis I hope you’re on prep
😂😂 good call, that should be taken into consideration
I enjoy your content., but the first few minutes sounded gringy. Like you were looking down at the guy for wearing his watch. Which is how they get that dirty.
Not at all he enjoyed the heck out of it that’s what they were made for!
Great work Peter, I'm pretty certain your former colleagues could never do this
Thanks Nick! Appreciate you watching🙏🏻
Wow, she was a dirty girl!! Great outcome tho. Question tho....why not replace the barrel spring? Whenever i see vintage watches serviced they always replace it...
The mainspring was replaced, it was just unrolled and cleaned ! Id that’s what you’re referring to
yeah most of this is dead skin cells+ sweat mixed with oil from the cars
Crazy right! Wonder how many oil changes this things had
Peter, I bought a batman from Anthony. How is the best way to make sure that he didn't sell me a fake watch. i heard that he had sold some super clones and i want to make sure that mine is legit and not stolen. it looks real to me BUT i am not a expert and if anthony did sell me a fake i am going to tell the cops
I can't believe he beat it up that bad knowing what the watch is worth. At least take it off and stuff it in your pocket when you're working on something, then wear it in the shower and wash it off. It's a Rolex that doesn't mean it's invincible.
ehh some people are using them to enjoy resell value is irrelevant! but for the most part a Rolex will easily take the abuse
@@Peterpic true one of the best parts of one of those watches is you don't have to take it off, strong water resistance I bring my watches in the shower soap them up and rinse them off all the time and I never got that much disgusting buildup, I had to replace the case on one that I bought because someone never washed it and it actually ate in and pitted the case where the gasket seated under the caseback. 1982 16030 date just. It even made pits and holes where the end links go on the case where the serial number and model numbers are. When I took it apart I said my God what did this guy stick his arm in acid?
Skin cells
Mixed with a little tetanus
That is DISGUSTING!! PEOPLE CLEAN YOUR WATCHES ITS NOT EFFING HARD! I WOULD'VE THROWN IT IN AN ACID BATH FOR A week 😂! Filthy!
haha was for sure the worst one I've come across!
You should wear gloves!!!😮 Yuck!
He wasn't scared to wear it at work😅
He wasn’t scared to play in the mud with it looks like😂
Love what you doing keep it up. Watching from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
The word you're searching for is 'Cruft'. You're welcome.
I’m interested to buy it please let me know ASAP thanks
Hey will be on the website tomorrow!
Anyone else gets their kicks from seeing this young man thrive while LB crashes and burns?
😭😭😭🤣
IMO, LB has to do what needs to be done to stay afloat in a down market. The building, while not in a premium location in terms of traffic, would be a hefty fixed cost. Roman should have never made his association/approval of AF to the general populace. He should have kept his dealer to dealer dealings with a relatively unproven entity, AF, limited to shows and other gatherings.
LB?
Luxury bazaars’ loss is our gain 🙌🏼
Brilliant!! Well, it is now!! From farmyard muck to operating theatre cleanliness in 21:18 mins, beautifully done, brilliantly edited 👏 😀 👌
Thank you appreciate it 😂🙏🏻
First time viewing your site and this restoration..which, btw, was a great job. A classic piece which was in dire need of service....(amazing how some ppl would let that go soo far..). You did a Great job..and thed bracelet is still in good shape to wear as is. No need (at this point) to rebuild. Kudos to you... (where's your accent from..Sounds 'Brooklynish'...eh.?
Wow that watch came out beautiful. I really love the look of the older rolex datejust
I totally agree! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Lots of complaining about the dirty watch. You knew from the start that's dirty, the guy told you, you've seen it before this video. To spend 5 minutes complaining about that guy wearing his watch...I left...not sorry 😞
Stunning! Great job with the restoration.
Thank you very much!
