I got lucky back in 2018 when I went to puerto Vallarta. I got a clean Jetta through Val car rental for $360 for a whole week and insurance included! While using Turo. The other big time rental agencies were charging a $350 non refundable deposit and and 600 dollar refundable deposit. It’s a scam Mexico does and it’s pathetic. I’m sure they didn’t like that insurance got bypassed through turo and gave Turo the boot. All I did on my next trip was call the Mexico rental car company in puerto Vallarta and got my rental. Easy peezy.
as a mexican, we definetly do not have the necessary laws to have this peer to peer rental service... i doubt this is going to happen any time soon.. unfortunately we have very different culture here in mexico.
In Mexico, it is needed by law to have a special type of licencse plate to be a rental vehicle. Because of this, the insurance policy is not able to cover you.
the problem in Mexico is about insurance, Turo aloud for a couple months your car listed 3 or 4 rents, but after this time they block your account. so is not possible to Mexicans offer their car. and liberty insurance doesnt work in Mexico
my family went to Monterrey Mexico last year in June and they made their reservation here in the U.S without any problems, now, we tried to doit again and nothing is coming up. I don't kn ow what the deal is with that. maybe turo got banned or something idk 💁🏽
