    Exactly Aiden O'Connell came in at a disadvantage because they know they're not going to run the ball. So they're just going to sit back and wait for the pass. And he still did good. I fear that Aiden will start when the season is pretty much over

      I don't see any passion in him, any confidence, any swagger, anything that you want in a QB, but when I see AOC step on the field, I see all of that. Also, I think you can feel the extreme flat, and confused energy in Minshew, and with AOC you have a guy who is ready to go out and become the next Tom Brady, he's hungry.. Hopefully some people on the sidelines who matter will sense the same things....

  • @j.michael
    @j.michael 3 дня назад +19

    As a retired Qb coach and OC, anyone that has watched the All 22, and still says Minshew should be the starter than I question your sanity.
    Your first play u went over in this video is versus a single high safety. U will notice the safety is leveraged to the left hash. It’s a pre snap read to look off the safety and keep him leveraged with a look to the out to Adams. Then u pull the trigger on the Y seam route to Mayer. It’s an old West Coast concept.
    Minshew displays over and over bad eyes and footwork. This last game he was really bad.
    Sadly, a lot of Raider fans and more unfortunately AP really thinks Minshew isn’t playing bad…..it’s beyond concerning how blind some are 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @mikeronald3812
      @mikeronald3812 3 дня назад +1

      Right but it's a cherry picked play. Minshew has dropped back 100times and completed 75% of his passes. Every qb misses guys. That line is also not dependable so that's gonna weigh on any qb. Raiders are on pace to have the worst running game in NFL history at this rate. Gotta be able to run the ball. Raiders are #2 in the NFL in first dons through the air. MInshew is moving the ball.

    • @j.michael
      @j.michael 3 дня назад +1

      @@mikeronald3812 I was just explaining what the read was on that one play Mike. That Y seam concept is basic 101 for an NFL Qb. Minshew had no idea where to look! 🤦🏻‍♂️
      I was at every practice in training camp. Minshew did the same thing he does in every game….hits the 4 yard dump off and so his numbers look good but there is no pop to the offense because he struggles to see the 2nd and 3rd level concepts consistently. Sometimes he sees them. Sometimes.
      Running game no doubt needs fixing to help Minshew out. But Minshew isn’t close in most reads because his eye discipline and footwork is so bad.
      I like Minshew, but his tape is frustrating to watch. U can’t believe the stats, u have to watch the film. Tape never lies.

      @@j.michael I understand BUT MInshew has completed 12 passes for 20 yards or more. That's 2nd best in the NFL. Only 1 qb (Purdy) has completed more passes over 20 yards and he has 13. Minshew is tied for 4th in the NFL with passes completed over 30 yards. Last year he was in the top 3 with passes completed over 40 yards and top 3 in passes completed over 50 yards. I'm sure this will surprise most people.

    • @j.michael
      @j.michael 19 часов назад

      @@mikeronald3812 excellent points Mike. Stat line can be convincing indeed. An example of what frustrates me but also falls in the category of a positive play on the stat sheet is the dump off Minshew hit Mattison with. I believe it was the 3rd quarter…..Carolina for whatever reason doesn’t cover Tucker at all….Tucker runs a 20-25 yard Stop route….there isn’t a defender with 10-15 yards of Tucker from the time of the snap. Minshew is looking in his direction, stares His direction….then for some reason goes into avoid the pass rush mode….and eventually flips a hook shot toss to Mattison as he is falling down. Mattison who was in pass pro takes the improvised toss and runs for a 15-20 yards.
      The stat line shows completion for 15-20 yards. Film shows a Qb not being able to see an easy big gainer and makes a routine play really difficult.
      Minshew does this much too often. He does have his moments. But Minshew who is now on his 4th or 5th team has never really had bad stats. Just when he is in, the offense will be very limited in the passing game. The most consistent thing about his game is his high volume of dump offs that can turn into big gains at times.
      Great points by you though for sure 👍🏻

    I also watched the all 22, minshew has guys wide open that he either cant see or doesn't keep his eyes downfield to make a confident throw to. I also thought AOC should have been the day 1 starter but now its the obvious decision to bench GM and give AOC the reigns. I can live with him with him getting intercepted on a good defensive play but Gardner sacks himself and makes bad throws and costly mistakes.

    Thanks for the shout. I dig your work. Gardner is a good back up because he plays great when the defensive game plan isn’t designed to shut him down, but the book is out on him. Make him play from the pocket and he’ll beat himself. Judging off the initial announcement of Gardner starting, what I heard was that Aidan just wasn’t ready. Knowing that pierce doesn’t mince words, it sounded like he was giving Aidan another month to learn the system. Gardner has much more experience learning nfl offenses. I believe Gardner was made the starter as a placeholder until Aidan is ready. After all, pierce said both quarterbacks would play. He wouldn’t say that if Gardner was the unquestioned starter. I am not so much down on Minshew, as simply seeing AOC as having a higher ceiling.
    Being more experienced (and mobile) probably gave Minshew an edge in camp and the pre-season, learning a new system, so heading into Game 1 it seemed like the right thing to start him. I expect he has until about halftime against the Browns to validate that decision, or it's back to AOC for the rest of the season.
    At that point, Getsy will become the one under scrutiny.
    It's a shame we let Hardegree out the door. Retaining him, at least as QB Coach or Assistant OC (assuming he would have accepted the demotion) would have helped provide continuity, especially for O'Connell.

    Thanks for the breakdown of Aidan in play performance. BEING AN NFL QB TAKES MORE THAN SAYING HIKE AND PASSING THE BALL. You have to think and use subtle movements(6 years in the league he does nothing a veteran should do). Gardner doesn't have the solid fakes on play action, he doesn't look off players, his consistent precision/ strong arm is below average, he doesn't pre snap and his post snap looks too fast & unprepared instead of film study and actual practice. He not fast enough to scramble and he doesn't manipulate the pocket to run thru a gap(he's not fast enough, also), he STILL THROWS OFF HIS TOES AFTER BACKING UP🤬, His eyes leave down field or they get locked on a target, his drop backs are 2.5 steps(He backups 2 feet then does a half back step throw.
    Aidan has bad pocket manipulation, he's really slow, he's not familiar with top defensive minds when they zone blitz, he has little experience as a real NFL starter to be considered better than Andy Dalton but he just needs more practice.
    Lastly, his deep ball accuracy is below average and his
    But Aidan can look off players, he can throw over players(LB)instead of straight line passing like minshew. His arm can reach all parts of the field; out/corner/post/siem routes. Aidan has better footwork and pre snap read and more continuity with Tucker and Adams and Meyers. And his play action fakes are really good for a rookie(he fully extends and hides the ball and doesn't rush the fake)
    I'm giving Minshew until half time vs browns to get us 2 TDS or he's being replaced for AOC.
    If he scores at allegiant the next drive. The crowd will roar and feed our team.
    Aidan will be the starter going forward.

    It's not about prevent defense. Aidan faced a soft defense. A defense was content with giving up short passes. Sure, they blitzed, but they weren't playing the same rules as they were in the first half against Minshew.
    The biggest issue isn't Minshew or Aidan. We need to fix the run game. You cannot have a successful passing game when the team knows you cannot run. Fix the run game and the rest of the offense will be fine.

  • @mikeronald3812

    Dude Minshew has completed 74% of his passes - top 5 in NFl. He's 6th in passing yards. 2nd most first downs through the air in the NFL. 2nd most passes competed over 20 yards in the NFL. Defense has only got 1 turnover - bottom of the NFL. They have the worst rushing attack in the entire NFL and they are on pace to shatter the worst rushing attack record in NFL history. Anyone can cherry pick plays. Colts had a bad defense last year - gave up the most points in the entire AFC and MInshew was 9-6 with the Colts and they had a poor receiving group. Pittman had a career year and Downs set the Colts rookie record for most receptions by a rookie. You HAVE to be able to run the ball or teams will never respect play action and Minshew thrives in play action. The O LIne is awful. Minshew is on pace to get sacked twice as much as he did last year. Gotta wake up and see the forrest through the trees. MInshew is a good qb but ya gotta protect him and be able to run.

  • @travisspaulding2222
    @travisspaulding2222 4 дня назад

    The thing is this. Minshew played better than this last season, so we know he has it in him. Getsy was about this bad last year, too. Justin Fields was terrible last year. Now, Justin Fields is 3-0, and while the Steelers aren't lighting up the stat boards on offense, Fields looks much better this year, than last year. You guys calling for AOC when our problems are much deeper than that are trying to ruin that kid's career. Let Minshew keep starting for now, give Getsy the opportunity to either correct his mistakes (2 games max) or bury himself deeper, then go from there. If our run game improves and Minshew is still shitting the bed, then bench him. If Getsy can't get anything going, then fire him (and Cregg for that matter) and put Scott Turner as OC and Joe Philbin as Oline coach and reevaluate the QB position. We are looking a lot like the Bears this year offensively, so if you choose to put in AOC with that going on, I think you're in for a long season.

    1st play: Devante isn’t really open. Would need to be a perfect pass and if it’s not it’s 6 so not the worst decision. He does panic but and he should have just hit Brock but complaining that he’s not hitting the out is crazy. Play 2: pre snap alignment would make gou believe that the curl from Devante is not open. It’s not his first read and with the backers showing the middle of the field being wide open he checks it down (PS you need the all 22 to actually understand the dynamics of the play and why he checked it down rather than throwing it to his first reads. Dont cherry pick plays if you don’t have the full picture) Play 3: pressure wasn’t in “in his face” and it’s a high ball. Not a bad play by any means and it does prove your point that yes, AOC wasn’t just playing prevent, but it doesn’t show me that he’s good Play 4: honestly an all around great play by AOC. No complaints.
    I am a fan of your videos and appreciate your perspective which is why I’m saying this, don’t make film reviews w/o A22 and without showing the good and bad of both sides.

I enjoyed watching AOC, as someone else mentioned, how the staff doesn't get it, is weird, like is it on purpose? Are the Raiders just part of a WWE script?

    I think you should continue showing these breakdowns until AOC starts just to show these people who keep commenting it’s not Minshew how football works. Every QB in the league misses open receivers but Minshew has a chronic issue with it. Bowers is open on almost every play and Devonte has had numerous one on ones, with Minshew staring him down but refusing to throw to him. Out of all his attempts I’ve seen 2 passes thrown with anticipation….2! That’s not gonna win football games.

  • @capecodraiders47
    @capecodraiders47 4 дня назад

    On the first play you showed the defensive lineman put his arm up and really Minshew's arm is not strong enough to make that throw all the time. That could have been a pick 6. In real time that pocket is collapsing much faster than slowing things down and pausing. His #1 read should have always been Bowers who in space is a nightmare. You get him the ball fast enough right there that might be a TD. Minshew knows his limits. One of the main reasons the Raiders can't run the ball is no one respects his arm. O'Connell can make those throws and in the off season actually improved his arm and ball velocity. To be fair sometimes he sails it. No matter who the QB the offensive scheme needs tweaking. The OL needs tweaking.

    I would rather see my QB throw 5 interceptions and prove to us that he sucks, because throwing the ball away or taking a sack is like stealing stats from your skill players. Give DA Meyers Tucker Bowers Zeus Mattison Abdullah and Mayer a chance to put food on their table, for crying out loud!!!
    There’s nothing noble about throwing the ball out of bounds or taking the sack - it just means you’re a coward or you think you know what’s best for your skill players and they can’t possibly make a play. Lob it up there!! Zip it in there!! Put it where only the receiver can get it. Minshew scared to throw the ball is QB malpractice isn’t he a multi millionaire??? For what??
    AOC is a gun slinger and he’s probably gotten wiser watching the last three games from the sideline.
    If Minshew starts Sunday I predict 5 TD’s in the air or 5 picks, either way his time is running out so might as well give the receivers a chance to earn their keep.

    The sad part is yeah say if you throw it up to adams one on one...thats 50% chance. its 27-7. But its probably higher odds because adams is one of best. Say 80% Adams wins it. Gardner was never this scared when he was with colts.

    Minshew is getting one more game. If Minshew plays like Mad Maxx is gonna eat his first born child, if they don't get some TD's. Then I have no problems with Minshew at QB. End of the day, just Win Baby. Far as evaluating the two QB's.
    Gardner needs a running back to help run an offense. AOC needs it too but not having a running game doesn't effect AOC the same way it does Minshew.

    @noodicus1 4 дня назад

    Question. What was the QBs situation before and after? Seems to me he had little to no time. This is what I like about armchair analysis . We can pick apart every second of every play. How about putting another line men in the backfield? I still think any QB taking snaps behind this front line has to know he is in for a hard days night. For the five years he has taken snaps he is capable of running the offense. He has seen enough teams and played with enough teams to be able to call the shots unless the booth sees an opportunity. Really this offense is struggling to find itself and it would be good for the coaching to get more creative. But I say don't give up on GM. There's a lot of shit going on in the locker room that is poisonous. That needs to be dealt with sooner than later and then restore the comradery. One thing about Gardner he'll get back up and never point fingers. He is a believer in himself and his team mates. Go Raiders !

  • @jasonturpin7349
    @jasonturpin7349 3 дня назад

    In that first clip you are delusional man. When you pause it the first time the Davante is not open. The DB is in great position sitting on the route. The second pause, the DB gets shook and Davante is open. However, Minshew can't throw the ball there because you fail to mention A'Shawn Robinson, who has some of the longest arms in the NFL is jumping up with his arm up in the pathway of the throw. Also, the LT is getting pushed into the pocket by Clowney which is the reason why Minshew panicked. He still should have gotten it out, and not taken the sack, but that was not in anyway an easy throw to Adams.

    So much pride and so good for so many years.
    It was just win baby and commitment to excellence.

Minshew has some good ones but needs to be more consistent, I think AOC is more geld with his team after all last year till now, Minshews just getting started 3rd game. Notice how Aiden has a great connection with Kobi, Mayer and Tucker and all others for that matter. Oh yeah plus shorter QBs might have a harder time seeing the field thus he scramble s more, Dalton is a pocket passer and whooped our ass. I thought we should have focused and spend on a monster solid O Line and kept developing Aiden, a pocket passer. We had a good thing going finishing last year why change?
