"playful little studies" she says. for me they're works of art! Great lesson - can't wait to get home and try this out. Why didn't I discover this channel sooner??
Thanks for another inspiring demo! Have been following your videos for quite a while. Love your work, and so appreciate that you Do Not fill the time with endless chatter. 🥰🎨👍🏻✨🇺🇸
This type of quick study exercises in past years has lead me to explore in a totally different avenue and have fun. I find it loosens me up and allows for trying out a variety of colour cravings and shape/line explorations. Thank you for sharing.
This is spectacularly beautiful work Jane. Thank you for this simple study tutorial - I may use your advice to work on small paper pieces to be framed.
i’m shocked you are saying these are not masterpieces!!! i love them soooo much they are wonderful…i just added you to my list of my all times favorite artists that include rothko, cy, franz, jackson and newman
Just received and devoured, Abstract Painting: The Elements of Visual Language. This is so well written that I felt like I was having private lessons. Thank youJane Davies for sharing such valuable information!!!
What a wonderful project! Especially on those days when I’m not sure what I want to create. These although beautiful on their own oils inspire a larger piece.
I’m impressed with how these little experiments are transformed with the addition of fine detail like the lines and spatters. (Not to mention, cropping!) while you might not consider them finished works, they are certainly a level up from just playing. I will certainly try this soon. Thanks!
Do try them. Any techniques will do, but one key is to LIMIT the number of techniques you are using, and limit your time on them. The other key is to let them be NOT good, NOT finished.
Wow! Wow! Wow! my first time to find you. I am attracted to your style, boldness and vigor to express yourself with your techniques. formation and vigor to create. I surely subscribed and will be watching more of your videos. They style is just open and energetic. Thank you for what you do.
Thanks for this inspirational video Jane, I’ve lost my creative mojo under the pile of life for quiet awhile and feel that old familiar excitement looking at your video so thank you very much!😊
Wie schön! Ihre Werke sehen fantastisch aus. Sie zeigen, wie man spielerisch, und doch überlegt, ganz wundervolle Arbeiten anfertigen kann. Herzlichen Dank dafür! ❤
One of the hardest things for me is to let go and not overthink but when I do, I have the most fun and other feel a sense of liberation. Plus, there’s also the possibility I’ll end up with something really cool. If not, it’s not the end of the world, I can just paint over it or use as a background for adding other layers. It’s [and should be] all in the name of fun!
Fresh and fun! On Watercolor paper? Gessoed? Am thinking I could take a larger piece of w/c paper and "score " off smaller pieces with masking tape to create a little series. Thanks for the inspiration!
I go through buckets of Light Phthalo Green - it's a gorgeous colour. Especially when used with transparent red iron oxide. Happy Hogmanay from the Scottish Highlands!
@@andrewfrost8866 Never thought of that. Thank you for the suggestion. I use blocks of butter wrapped in paper but I know someone who buys Lurpak in a tub so will ask them to save a couple of lids for me.
Actually, michaels had them near the Gelli print supplies which were directly across from the rubber stamps. Having them myself tho, they don't work much differently than old credit cards or a spatula for drywall you would find at the hardware store. Just use what you have. It's the idea behind it, of just pushing paint around with a flat service as your tool.
What do y'all do with your artwork? I have hundreds of paintings, collages, greeting cards, matted paintings. Just sitting in a closet. I live in a small town that still isn't doing art shows. What to do with all my work? I tried social media but that was useless. I've given my friends so many paintings I'm sure they don't want any more
I agree with the other comments here that these are amazing pieces of art despite them being "only quick studies". These are fantastically inspiring!
Your “playful little studies” are works of art.
These are as legitimate art as any “ full blown “ painting, and I frankly prefer this style

Oh m gosh, I played with this this am and had such fun. Thanks for a great tutorial/video.
I love how you don't overthink each study.
This is a great technique for when you want to do something but have no ideas on what to do.
I love these! They’ve inspired me. Thank you. 🥰

Jane - It makes me happy anytime I see you've uploaded a new video. Loved it!
Oh thank you! I hope you give it a try.
What a better way to end 2020 doing something beautiful and creative! Thank you Jane!
Loved the bonus cropping at the end of the video. Its fascinating how dramatically a painting, drawing or photo can change by moving the frame around.

We'll see if it loosens ME up. I don't do it very often.
great process Jane, I shall be experimenting with this myself.
I have learned so much from the freedom and experience you have. Thanks. Looking forward to see these today in big paintings.
Always inspiring Jane! I enjoy heisting ( implementing I mean) some of your ideas.
Cheers and Happy New Year 🇨🇦👍😎🍷

fabulous!
Really inspiring 🙏
Love this I'll give it a go what fun. Thank you.u.k.
Nice work~~~
Thank you!
Love it!
Thanks!!
Super👍🎨vielen Dank !
Fabulous little studies. Wondering if old credit/store cards would be a good alternative to a Squeegee?
You could make use of a margarine tub lid just cut to size.
@@andrewfrost8866 Never thought of that. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yup. Try anything you can think of.
Hallo Jane, Please....Can you show how you put your paper painting on a canvas? I don't know the technique. Thank you very much 😊
i quite fancy these
Thanks!
THANKS!!
Beautiful❤❤❤
😍 love it, what kind of paper are you using??
Awesome!
Thanks!
Super!
beautiful
What kind of paper do you use? The cheaper papers are buckling up on me even though they say “mixed media”.
Do you have a list of materials you’re using?……🙏🙏🙏❤️
Are you using transparent acrylic?
👌💕
Do you have cold wax and oil classes or videos?
Not at this point, but I might add some.
Hi Jane, That was fun. Can you tell us a source for the squeegees? I'd like to buy some!
Update: I looked at the squeegees and was able to look up the company. All set.
@@susancarbin-hardee8549 Where did you find them? Thanks.
Tried to find those Squeegees. Can't find them.
Michaels had them. Cheap joes art supply has them. Look for them in the mixed media section or near the Gelli print supplies.
