  • Bill from Clinton Hill, Brooklyn and his neighbors have joined their backyards and created a monstrous 3,600 sq ft urban jungle complete with a koi pond. Host Denton Tarver brings us into Bill's NYC garden.
Urban Gardener is a video series dedicated to exploring some of the most interesting city green spaces and meeting some of the most creative urban gardeners around the US, whether they're just off a street or ontop of a skyscraper - we'll find 'em. This series is produced by SPACES - a RUclips original Home + Design channel.

Or maybe the purpose of espaliers is to weigh down the branches making the tree produce more fruit ...

So sorry you interviewed Bill, he seems to be healthy and certainly have profitted from his very privileged position. I wonder why he felt the need to juxtapose his garden against the 'other side of the house?' Nice garden, most would do the same with equitable resources, access, and opportunity.

I COUGHT THAT DISAGREEABLE COMMENT TOO. Clinton Hill was annexed from Bedford Stuyvesant in the late 70s, early 80s. Of course, he's referring to the neighborhood having majority black residents, which he seems to find distasteful. I'm sure his neighbors are equally pleased with him. Odd then, though he refers to the neighborhood as 'sketchy', he's still alive 24 years later; not maimed, robbed, not vandalized. Not many black people could say that moving into an all white neighborhood.

@@TNJSRP Their are Upper Middle class Black residents, such as myself, who are occupants in those next door residences in the same manner White movers are. Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy is as beautiful neighborhood now as it was 10 years, I would say 20 years but I'am a millenial, so I was fortunate enough to not have to experience the harsher side of NYC, only the beautiful side. I'm saying this as someone who is a Black/Carribean American person and has lived in a Brownstone on Decatur St, I'm also considering moving back soon. I'm 25 y/o now, but both before and after gentrification, my neighborhood was always charming, quiet, and extremely family oriented. The neighborhood I grew up in was a landmark district with a neighborhood block association that was very involved in the community. I did not notice the major issues with the new change being that my neighborhood sector was already inviting, which was a reason why gentrification took place first in my sector, because of the appeal my neighborhood has had over the past 30 years prior to my conception.

I bet at the end he was just waving to nobody. Lol. Highly unlikely that there was a cab just strolling by in that neighborhood.
