    We were recently shopping for a 7+ seater and ended up with a 2011 Lexus LX570 - 8 seat 5.7L V8 petrol. We average about 10k km per year and do lots of short trips for school runs, groceries etc and a dpf diesel was going to be too problematic. Fuel consumption is not great (20-24L per 100km around town) but it's extremely reliable and capable for towing and offroad. Despite the thirst, I'm still expecting to come out on top long term compared to turbo diesel (fuel pumps, injectors, dpf). Overall, it's a great car we couldn't be happier with our purchase.

      Cheaper to fix a dpf then pay for an extra 10L per 100km lol

    My experience after using the following petrol SUV...
    On road drive and ride quality:
    1. Landcruiser (1997, 2020) [the best silky smoothness riding in the most tranquil environment]
    2. Pajero (2019) [comparatively rough and tumbling ride]
    3. CX9 (2013) [huge wind and road noise, engine noise is obviously noticeable]
    Country side off road handling capability:
    1. Pajero [better agility]
    2. Landcruiser [heavy body weight]
    3. CX9 [forget it, not for off road]

    My dad over 28 years, has owned 2 lexus' - RX 450h & NX 350h(lexi?), a GLC250d, a Prado, a Forester, an Aurion, a Falcon, a Commodore Statesman.
    out of all these vehicles his all time favourite was the 2004 v6 petrol Prado GXL. Gave him 200k kms of trouble free motoring and held its value extremely well. When i was a kid, we went on countless roadtrips with the Prado ranging from rural to the snowy mountains to coastal areas. Even did some proper off-roading where it was submerged in muddy water hood-deep and driven across sand dunes. When he sold it, his next owner was extremely happy with it and even texted him to say thank you for selling him such a good car. Legendary reliability and low cost of ownership, sans the extreme usage of fuel- 25L/100km.

      Hold up 👐... Did you say 25L/100km? 👀 Damn!! I drive a Honda CRV, and with my style (Heavy footed), I get max 12L/100km. The highest consumption car I'm willing to accept would be around 15L max. Salute to Your dad, he's brave, hey. 🙌

    • @eugenewang4650

      @@desmondmasikhwa1700 yeh he got the petrol cause diesels back then were extremely noisy and smelly. The tranny was an absolute dinosaur of a 4 speed slushbox, he really shouldve gotten the manual but he really really hates it even though hes able to drive manual

    • @eugenewang4650
      @eugenewang4650 5 месяцев назад

      @@desmondmasikhwa1700 yeh, he went through the double fuel tanks (180L total capacity) in 1.5 weeks, mostly doing school, grocery and extracurricular activity runs for 2 kids. Highway consumption wise, it made it from Sydney to GC (about 1000 kms vast majority of it is 110km/h cruising) in little under 180L. Given it was an oldschool slushbox it just made the fuel economy worse than if he had gotten a manual. Its a heavy parachute on wheels, carrying 2 or 3 passengers almost all of the time too.

    Not an off road person so bought a Santa Fe as the modern equivalent of a 70s/80s station wagon/estate as they aren't really manufactured any more. My MY19 TM was comparatively loaded with features compared to a euro model. As long as you're honest with yourself about what you will actually do with the car not what you wish you were doing (off roading to the top end) this style of vehicle is a great option, filling it full of kids, their friends, musical instruments, sporting gear, junk runs. Yep the modern station wagon.

    I currently have a Pajero 2014 (NW) - a great vehicle but time for an upgrade since it’s 10 years old. So I’m now looking at a land cruiser Prado 2022-23 model, because I’ve driven the Isuzu MUX and the Mitsubishi Pajero sport and didn’t like them and I’m not convinced by the specs of the new 2024 land cruiser Prado. So when the new 2024 Prado lands on the Aussie market, I’ll look out a low Km 2022 or 2023 Prado VX, hopefully there might be a little bit of a price drop… maybe?

      Should add that my company just about has all the cars mentioned, and I’ve driven all in a variety of terrain and for long road kms too. I thought the Pajero Sport would have been better, but with the radar sensor located in / behind the front badge emblem, phantom shadows or glitches randomly turns the cruise control off, or sets off the crash alert and for no reason puts on the brakes (its believed the after market roo bar, of bug smear on the badge emblem may be the cause - nonetheless its distracting and dangerous). The Isuzu MUX just felt like a small truck - not at all smooth, and no real comfort refinements. I can travel for 10hrs in the base model 2022 Prado GL and arrive at my destination not feeling stressed or stretched. Yes Toyota Tax is a thing, but worth it, I reckon. .

    If you can get a Sequioa in your country (either they were sold new in your country or as a used import), I'd suggest those over the full size Land Cruiser. You get the same engine and transmission as the Land Cruiser (if you get the petrol V8s) for cheaper, plus you get more interior space, especially in the third row, as they're bigger than the Land Cruiser. They're also pretty good offroad. Look for any 2001-2021 models in excellent condition with service records and no frame rot.

    • @tempestv8
      @tempestv8 5 месяцев назад

      Alas, Toyota USA does not make a Sequoia in RHD for overseas markets.
      The 5.7 litre V8 is rather thirsty though! Fuel consumption would not be wallet friendly 21-24l/100km around town.

    The "best" 7 seat SUV without question is a series 4 Land Rover Discovery (or a full-fat L405 RR if the cash were available). It runs rings around all of the options you've provided.....It's just not very reliable. And here's my minor gripe with this excellent channel: you're using the wrong word. You're not necessarily presenting the "best" 7 seat SUVs (that list shouldn't have a Colorado anywhere near it), but instead the "most reliable" ones. I get that the RUclips algorithm isn't into that as much as the word "best", but I think it needs to be acknowledged a little better.

    Where did re driven go? Please get back to cars most people can afford..not 100k land cruisers. The best viewing is a dedicated video on 10 to 15 year old cars or more, cars people actually can pay cash for and have an honest review.. Just my opinion, hate me, ok, however SUV and people movers? No...might as well review shopping trolleys. 🍻

      With SUV’s being the largest section of our automotive market and the demand high… don’t you think this is an appropriate review??
      You and I may not be in the market for 100k LandCruiser, but many people are… and most of all these videos are an entertaining review into reliability and ownership.

      Can pick up a used 200 series for around $40k. Even 200k km versions will be more reliable and last longer than most other options in the list.

      @@ReDriven yeah I think it’s interesting point of you. I think the newer technology lithium polymer batteries will help a lot as their rated life is now around 15 years from eight years. It’ll be interesting to see how they go. I think the whole thing in the technology of the cars is the same for a gasoline car these days as they all have so much technology these days even when it’s a gas or diesel, in my opinion of all electric better than a hybrid at least you have reliable problems of an engine and reliability problems of a hybrid. I wouldn’t be recommending hybrid if you even Toyota as ones they have a lot of issues. Most gas cars aren’t even made to last over 10 years these days. Cars aren’t made to last very long. They meant to be a mass produced item which you buy every 5 to 10 years so I think the same thing that happens to the new electric vehicles is gonna happen to gas cars the other their battery should last a lot longer will be interesting to see how it works in the reward.

    • @jacksalem6472

      But I am pretty anti-hybrid. Do you have the worst of both worlds a really heavy car because it’s got an engine and motor and both the reliability issues?

    I really enjoy this channel because there really doing a service for the automotive industry the people that view and doing there part for the environment by showing people what they can buy in the second hand market keeping older cars on the road alive then see scrap yards... we are a world that just throws things away we don't have the support or infrastructure for EVs nor do we have a way to dispose of batteries in a environmentally responsible way or make replacement batteries cheaper so people keep there EVs longer. So until the government pulles there finger out there dots I'm very happy supporting and keeping our petrol cars alive....that's what it takes as it stands in, REALLY protecting our environment...I was totally aboard until the mention on the EV9 😂 but I can forgive just this once
