Hello from Spain, why is it, when you're a child, adults always tell you not to touch, so why do the adults ie 'the sheep', just have to touch. Stop touching. It's such a sensitive area, a horses mouth, nose, eyes, etc, that it's a horrible thing being touched over and over in the same place. The guards always touch a horse on it's neck or chest area because they know it's not going to cause an irritation to the horse. If they do go near the mouth, it's always with an open hand. It's a friendly gesture from the guard to the horse.
As a Texan, that had horses abd raised around horses, rodeos, rounding up cattle etc, you DON'T touch a horses reins unless there is some sort of emergency or the rider expects the horse to be lead. We have mounted sheriff's and police even in Fort Worth and you will go to jail for this behavior if you did that.
As a Floridian and being raised on horses, plus having ridden all my life and now having 4 pasture potatoes, I'll never understand the thought process behind it. What would possess someone to be that stupid? I will never understand it. I would love to get in the car with them and then suddenly grab their steering wheel just to see thier face. I know it wouldn't change anything, they would still be that stupid. I'm 59, in all my years. I've never had anyone grab my reins. This a good thing because it wouldn't have ended well for them.
Far too many people thinking they can maul the horse. What is it with women that they can't leave the bloody horses noses alone? It's quite sickening the carry on from so called adults.
Yep I'm always thinking the same they're obsessed with the horse's mouth it's like rly 🤷 I bet these ppl wud be pissed if they're mouth was constantly touched 😡😡
Arg, this drives me a bit crazy, people can literally ruin a horse for working (or even a pet) by hardening their mouth, It also hurts to drag like that! Im sure she would be complaining if some one did that to her?

When are these disrespectful tourists going to get it into their thick skulls that these Royal Guardsmen aren't just there as ornaments, they are real military personnel doing a serious and vital job of guarding Britain's Monarchy, it's a job they have been doing for centuries, also, there's a very good reason why you shouldn't touch the horse's reins, doing that could cause the horse to bolt and injure people, horses are heavier and stronger than the average person, and a nervous horse is more likely to bite or kick as a fight or flight response, ask yourself this, would you like it if some stranger came up to you and invaded your personal space, or touched you inappropriately while you're trying to work? I think not.
