hey, i’ll be honest, i’m haven’t wanted to play the game because it looks like it takes itself too seriously.
it’s just not wacky and whimsical enough, john. games where you need to be funny should look wacky and whimsical. When i wonder if i should play with my friends, i shouldn’t be worried about them thinking it looks weird because the characters are built like that and have soulless eyes and animations. it’s just too generic looking i guess. thanks for reading my critique, and i hope for your game to succeed however you proceed with it.

@@johnpaulcross424 Might be misremembering but Jack made a video called "Why I Hate Jacksfilms", which a lot of people saw as a salty response to criticism towards Be Funny Now.
@@johnpaulcross424 When he first announced the game some people didn't like it, so Jack made a very condescending ideo where he acted like an angry fan and recited the common criticisms in the most passive-agressive and entitled way
Some people didn't mind, but there were a lot of people who didn't think it was a very nice way of handling things

I actually think it's a bit better than Quiplash. The timer tiebreaker changes the dynamics completely, and there is no bracket system in Quiplash. It does live or die on how good the prompts are, though.

Be Funny Now was an incredible game that my friends all loved playing while drunk. We didn't even know it had failed in the matchmaking aspect because we just played in a closed group. It's still a fun game, and I look forward to any and all updates! Thank you, Jack.

Jack is probably one of the only creators to actively listen to his fans and know when something isn’t working out, I’m glad he completely owned up to it instead of doubling down on it and ignoring the issue
@@srizzyep1616 so after reading your original comment on this video it makes a lot more sense as to why you think the update didn’t fix anything, and I agree that there are still major flaws with the voting system. I can’t counter argue since I haven’t played the game myself, but I will say that my point still stands. You’re completely right to criticize the game, but the fact in of itself that he still made an attempt to improve the game shows that he is willing to accept and use feedback from his audience, which is a lot farther than most creators go, especially for a mobile game. I don’t mean to spark an argument, I just wanted to defend my point a bit more

If I had a nickel for every time Jacksfilms created a game claiming to be superior than Twitter where people vote on each other's prompts, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that happened twice.
Tbh, when I played the game with my friends, back when it initially launched, they all agreed that "the idea is cool, but the prompts are not that great". So allowing custom prompts might help a lot. An option to send prompt ideas so they can be oficially added to the game would be nice too.
I think the ability to send them in an have them vetted would be a good idea

I feel bad for Jack, the main problem of the game was the majority of players not being funny enough to make a good match, which has still been glossed over in this update

My main problem was number 9 - I felt like it was getting in the way of your normal content. But I'm happy to see that instead of giving up, you went back to the drawing board and tried to make it better. I'll give it another shot.
only jacksfilms can turn a video explaining why his game failed into an ad for his game.
I think a browser version of the game would be really cool. You'd be surprised how large the browser game market still is despite it's competition. Then again, probably more work than it's worth.
Honestly, I didn't even realize that was my issue with the game until it was stated here. I haven't opened it up in a while because I was continually in public games where people would down vote very funny answers, and the scoring system didn't feel intuitive. All of it made it more tedious to play than anything. Glad to see that you haven't lost your passion for this project, and are still doing what you can to make it enjoyable to everyone. Awesome job, and I'll definitely have to try the game out again with the new system.

I knew this game was gonna fail when I realized he had a game. It was today.

Imagine thinking a literal Jackbox game was gonna do well.
I downloaded this game on steam and I let it load for almost an hour, like when I clicked on public match or whatever it didn’t work, it kept saying looking for match. We need to bring back this game.
I’ve noticed a problem that’s plagued both versions and that’s people mass leaving when they realise they’re losing and it ruins it
Huge respect for taking the feedback seriously while being able to joke about it too. This seems like a big improvement and I can't wait to play!
Honestly this takes some guts, most triple A companys will dig their heals in but you are honest about your shortcomings and worked too fix it and you did it with good humor and without all the “poor me” that many videos like devolve into.

Number 9 was for sure a big one for me. The amount of advertising and promotional stuff made me not want to play. But you’ve always been fantastic at accepting criticism with these things so I had no doubt that you would fix these issues

I was honestly afraid Jack was just gonna let this game die, which was disappointing after how quick he was to right the wrongs of something like YIAY Live, so I'm actually happy to see that he's been working on these changes.
