i'm brazilian so i'll try not to be biased. imo estepario is as good as eloy in terms of technique, maybe even more technical (except for the footwork). but everytime i watch him playing i feel like he's focusing on showing the technique, being fast, playing effortlessly with minimal movements (it's something that kiko loureiro also does on guitar) and adding elements to the song that is not really necessary, "just because he can". nothing wrong with that, i really enjoy it and estepario is one of my favs, hands down. BUT, all that gets shadowed by eloy's style in my opinion (music is not a competition, but we are comparing them, right?). eloy plays as his life depends on it, showing lots of passion and feeling, hitting hard, eyes closed... i don't know, looks like he's both playing and enjoying the song at the same time. besides that, in terms of musicality, it's pretty obvious eloy is miles ahead. lots of influences, lots of composing experience etc etc. anyway, i love them both.
Estepario himself recommended Eloy for Slipknot. He was the perfect fit. Although Jorge was heavily inspired by Joey Jordison, I feel his style is too "jazzy" for a band like that. One thing is to listen to the isolated drums in a studio, and something completely different is the chaos that Slipknot unleashes when they play live. Also Eloy has already played for a legendary metal band for YEARS.
I think Eloy was the better performance. He musically fit the song better. His power and musicality just fit Slipknot perfectly. El Estepario is great at what he does. Incredible speed. Just think it fits better with some songs better than others. I wish he'd use tom's more often. Some songs just really need that variety of sounds.
The comparison of these two reminds me a bit of Mike Mangini and Mike Portnoy. Mangini is clearly better on a technical level. He is perfect - like a machine. He is faster as well. But I have, and always will prefer Portnoy's creativity, humanization, and just overall looser rock attitude on the drums. And I think that is why so many people love Eloy, the same way they prefer Portnoy.
@@gabrielsantana4575 ,this is your opinion, my is that I prefer El Est performance and he did it better. In fact i choice and listening him. You tube is big places of different options and choices what I respect. Everyone have the fredom to like and enjoy..
EES did a pretty good job on the cover. He's my fav in fact. But this song is not for him. He can do/cover way more technical and better songs than this one. On those kind of songs he will truly shine.
Eloy is on another planet to anyone in the drumming world, he’s just a monster who can also play any style, his Brazilian clinic solo you reacted too is arguably the greatest piece of drumming of all time. I like el estapario and even though he’s recently gotten into a band, I see him as social media drummer. Don’t get me wrong, he’s incredible but it’s just not on the same level as Eloy. He misses out a few fills and replaces them with double bass. I love double bass, nothing more badass but he used it too much and becomes boring to listen to at times. The only drummer I’ve ever seen in my life time who I’ve thought holy shit he’s a monster besides eloy is Igor Cavalera in his prime. Thats it. And that’s still not on Eloys level.
I dont know. Im not a drummer and i dont know if its triggers or not, or if its just some awful tuning, but Estepario always sounds way too clean and 'compressed' to me. No soul. Machine-like. With Eloy you can feel theres a real human behind the kit.
EES he has shown that he is second to no one
You’re high on drugs. Eloy is better and has way more power
It's another league man...no point in comparing no one to Eloy, he's on it's own league atm. There are great amazing drummers and then there is Eloy.
@@Rodiz182 I agree... Eloy is powerful.
Period

El Est has video about the triggers, and Yesss, I prefer his performance. Not everyone like copy paste drummers...So I prefer EL Est performance.
the bell tha eloy is playing during the highlight just turn it to better than Est, but they are just sick
