Charlotte is tearing down trees, what it is known for. The food sucks, transportation is not the greatest. Two lane roads unfortunately not great for all the building. Water and sewer is an issue. Schools are overcrowded. They have had about four superintendents for their school within past 10 years. I moved for the trees and it is turning into a concrete jungle.

The only way I would tell anyone not to move here is because we are getting overcrowded with people who aren’t from here. Every state fluctuates in cost of living, food etc based on the economy. However, Charlotte is getting way too crowded and all of the other mess we have to deal with comes from the outsiders moving in.
No people can't drive here. They don't use signals at all. They pull directly in front of you and slow down because they want you to crash into the back of them so they can get insurance money. They also travel below the speed limit on back roads again on purpose.
And they also run through red lights so I would suggest when your light turns green don’t be so quick to go because people down here aren’t so quick to stop at a red light. For some reason they think that just because the light has just turned red they have time to run through it!!!! Never seen anything like this in my life!!!
I moved here from Philly in 1997. I was only 26 and didn't know anyone here. Living here was alot better than dodging bullets. There's not much to do here after 10pm. The fire ants hurt like hell. Your right about non drivers here. There's always an accident when it rains. Other than that, it's better than alot of places I've seen.

Life long NC resident born and raised. I live about an hour from Charlotte. NC is a red state with a few cities that lean liberal but not by much. Anyone coming from a northern liberal city will quickly find that Charlotte doesn't fit that liberal bill. It is a southern city in a conservative state and my guess is that the current political leadership in the city will swing back to Republican as in the former mayor Pat McCory days. Folks are getting very weary of the shootings and other crime there.
Folks here know where the crime areas are located which is everywhere if you not careful and to be honest the transitional values is what makes our state great! And folks are fine in Charlotte NC WHite folks love the beer and we all get along looking after our neighbors!

As a Charlottean it saddened to see how this city is becoming. People seem to forget that this is the Carolinas Charlotte was never meant to have transportation like up north and believe me the transportation has gotten a whole lot better since we used to have only city busses and cabs that you had to call to pick you up. Believe me when I say the busses never ran in so many places as it do now. I remember taking the bus to get off and still have to walk 5 miles to get where I'm going. Far as the driving please stop driving like y'all still up north! Believe me I lived in Massachusetts for about 5 years and when I came back to Charlotte I had to remind myself I wasn't up north and bring it back down 😂. The crime rate has increased so high due to poverty. It's sad because Charlotte is so greedy for money building apartments and neighborhoods in every corner raising the price up for rent. Forcing people out of their homes that they have owned for decades by raising the property taxes and building homes in their neighborhood. Nothing in Charlotte is real anymore they have completely erased history. I stop driving downtown Charlotte because it damn near takes a hour to get to my location back in the day it only took me about ten minutes to get from the East side to the West side! I miss the Old Charlotte 😪
Relocated to Charlotte from B.K. N.Y.C. two years ago. Best thing I ever did. Yes it depends on your situation, but it’s ..heaven compared to New York. Brother you hit on some good points, but in my opinion they’re not major issues. Especially considering what’s going on in N.Y. with the migrant situation.🤔

It used to be a small quiet southern city but it has grown so much and has had such an influx of New Yorkers that the southern culture is pretty much gone. The city has done a terrible job in planning for future growth. All the major roads here are still two lane roads which makes the traffic horrendous. Crime has gotten way worse, the CMS school system has got to be one of the worst in the country, apartments are being built on every corner, etc. its nothing like it used to be when I was young. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to move here because I really the city has a whole lot to offer at this point that you can’t find in any other big city that is built to handle its population.
I moved to Salisbury and moved back to nyc. But bow I’m looking to move back, in particular east Charlotte. Hoping for the best in the financial industry and our son in tech.

Close proximity (3 hours) from the beach, Atlanta, Hilton Head, great weather, gorgeous neighborhoods, plenty to do, summer concerts, competitive housing prices. Buy a property & rent it out! Lots of opportunity.

The transportation is set up just for those areas that you say are walkable. The people that are building the infrastructure are extremely racist. That is why the area you said are walkable. They moved all the people with melon it out. They are rebuilding the city for only a certain kind of people to live here and thrive. If they rebuild the infrastructure to make sense for all, this would be the perfect city to grow old and raise your family or just live your life in.
