    I'm a Statistical Analyst and Relocation Specialist and am very familiar with both areas. I live in metro Charlotte and have family in Raleigh/Durham. Though Raleigh has its merits, Charlotte offers much more overall, both as a CITY and as a METRO AREA. Charlotte's downtown is exponentially better, more to do, has a better urban feel. Much better transportation assets (airport/light rail/street cars/trollies). Many more unique recreational assets that most metro areas in the U.S. do not have: Charlotte - 1. major theme park (Carowinds), 2. major water park (Carolina Harbor), 3. major outdoor center (US National Whitewater Center), 4. NFL Football, 5. NBA Basketball, 6. MLS Soccer, and 7. NASCAR. Raleigh - 1. NHL Hockey. Parks, greeways, rivers, lakes, museums, food scene, etc., both have a good amount of these typical things. Charlotte metro has much more. It's not even close. Both have 2 of the strongest economies in the nation, but the Charlotte Metro Area's Buying Power (income vs. overall cost of living) is better, so there's more value to each dollar. Charlotte's geographical location is better, allowing day trips to pretty much any part of North Carolina AND South Carolina, with the exception of the Outer Banks. The metro area covers NC and SC, giving residents 2 states from which to choose to live. So Charlotte wins by a mile when objectively looking at ALL quality of life metrics.

    *Raleigh is beautiful and perfect place to settle down for a family, but Charlotte just offers so much more as a city and the suburbs are great too! Not to mention incredible diversity.*

    Fair enough as a Charlotte native. Culture is tricky. The art and music scene is more independent artists vibe in Raleigh, while Charlotte feels more commercial.
    The Universities and job market bring a lot of diversity which spill out in many scenes. Numerous local businesses speak to this. The triangle as a whole has hipster vibe. Charlotte is catching up there, but highlights big ticket aspects. Pro teams and banking at its core. Charlotte’s trajectory feels a bit like Atlanta, but we’ll see. No telling how Raleigh goes, intertwined with Chapel hill and Durham

    Both are great cities but I don't know how you can compare the health care in Charlotte and Raleigh and not give the latter city the point. Doctors per person? I'd prefer world class university hospitals to a little extra wait time for non-emergency health care.

    • @LivingInCharlotteTeam
      @LivingInCharlotteTeam  2 месяца назад

      Absolutely agreed! I’m not sure about anyone else, but the only time I go the closest doctor would be for emergency care. Any other time I spend weeks researching the absolute best physician and travel to them. But if you’re in reasonably good health, I wouldn’t choose where I live assuming that my health will substantially decline.

    Raleigh is completely over rated. Street racing is definately a problem. Crime is definately on the rise. No idea why you would say that Raleigh is friendly... it all depends on the street or neighborhood you are in. I find Raleigh to be very fake nice and people close themselves in their homes.
