I've always felt that telling Anakin that he was the chosen one was one of the worse decisions they Jedi made. The other is not sending someone back to liberate his mother. Ashoka leaving the order after being falsely accused of the bombing didn't help either. Those along with the general animosity towards him by some Jedi such as Mace Windu left him open to manipulation by Palpatine. In many ways the Jedi did betray him.

The story of Anakin Skywalker could be used as a prime example of why children should never be forcibly taken away from either parent and not allowed to go back, the consequences of bullying by peers and teachers in schools, and why making men feel like our mental health is unimportant and making us ignore it is much more damaging than anything else.

Re-writing this because I was on mobile.
I'd like to take this video as an opportunity, as someone with BPD, to say that despite what people have been spreading around since the Johnny Depp trial, no, people with BPD are not abusers, are not people to flee and what else horror I've read online. You must realize that first and foremost, borderline people are people who got abused themselves in their lifes, who were backed into a corner, and had to develop unhealthy coping and defense mechanisms, but through self reflection and therapy, they can live a totally normal life like the rest of y'all.
Having BPD doesn't make you an abuser. Being an abuser makes you an abuser.
But this is an illness that can indeed, when left unchecked and undiagnosed, lead to toxic relationships and sometimes abusive behaviour, which is why I can't recommend enough to seek treatment, to seek therapy. You don't have to be alone in this. This is not something that has to define who you are as a person, and having past traumas doesn't mean you can't be loved.

    • @aSkyclad
      @aSkyclad 2 года назад +1

[Well this was supposed to be an answer to someone claiming people with BPD are born with it]
Actually no, there's no actual evidence of a "BPD gene" or anything of that sort. Among "considered" causes (Because we don't know that much about BPD at the end of the day) are chemical imbalance in the brain, some people have brain development issues in region such as the amygdala, which plays a role in regulating emotions for exemple, and the most widespread, environmental causes.
I invite you to make some research on the topic

I think another trauma to consider when it comes to the impact of Anakin's mental health is his time as a slave. And the jedi were not very supportive in processing emotions, a lot of it was dismissive and invalidating. We even got to see some of this in the flashbacks in Kenobi episode 5. During his dual with Anakin, You could see that Obu-Wan was aware of Anakin's anger and his struggles with it, but the response was to shame and scold. I'm sure Kenobi didn't do this on purpose, or maliciously, but that is another cause of BPD that we see in the childhoods of people struggling with it.

I suffer from BPD, and I've said this about anakin for years. It's actually called 'splitting' when your brain turns on you. Black for hatred, white for pedestal.
Splitting white is when your Favorite Person makes everything in life a-ok! You're feeling *good* for once, without extra substances, and this person feeds your seratonin needs.
Splitting Black is when someone does something Wrong, be it real or imagined, that your brain takes *great* exception to.
The worst part is that when you Split, you don't realize it. Something is either utter perfection, or grotesque corruption, and all your violent or creepy reactions to all of it are *COMPLETELY* logical to you (whilst seeming batshit insane to everyone else).
When the jedi, who'd had anakin under a Sword of Damocles, broke their own tenets, they put the lie to everything he'd believed in. They'd lied, the hypocrites. After all he willingly suffered for them, and they lied... well, you can't trust anything they say. And they are all corrupt, even obi-wan! They'd LIED.
But Palpatine? The only one who never lied to him? He's willing to join, to protect your Favorite Person, to teach him? But when he betrays Palpatine, *Anakin* betrays *him* to the jedi, they showed exactly where you stood. It's no wonder he hated everything the jedi stood for, when all he saw were the lies and stagnation. His brain literally would not allow him to see anything else.

    • @patriciabenjamin7056
      @patriciabenjamin7056 2 года назад +9

@@naseemweathers8358 basically. "better to abandon you, push *you* away, rather than let you do it to me. Because *way* too many people have done it to me already, and I don't trust anyone."
Then, you get the guilt of it all. Because the 'you' when you calm down is not the 'you' behind the wheel. It's you, yeah, but radically different ideals, often far far darker. When you Split, you want to *hurt* those villains who betray you. Make them suffer the pain they inflicted upon you.
Him deciding to fully be Vader over Anakin is really just a couple decades long Split. He hated himself so much for all his failures, he deserved all the pain he suffered. It isn't until Luke convinces him that Anakin isn't hated, he's wanted and needed, that the Split finally lets him go. Then he is back, behind the wheel once more.

Sheev Palpatine though I believe to be a machiavellian psychopath.
Cold, goal oriented, calculated, exceedingly manipulative and surreptitious. Repeatedly leverages superficial charm and gaslighting with deliberate and perverse lies while grooming minions (like Vader and Maul) to help do his bidding and achieve these goals with no concern for other's well-being unless it's convenient for him.

Being someone diagnosed with severe borderline personality disorder I can tell you how accurate this diagnosis seems. I'm not a Sith Lord and I'm not a murderer but my condition being severe I relate to a lot of his behaviour. Severe mood swings that make him violent or erratic. He loves to take risks, he is extremely impulsive. He fears more than anything the loss of his loved ones (Asoka, Mother and Padme mostly). He would do anything to keep them in his life... Anything. The huge (gigantic) dissociation he shows when he becomes Vader as if he wasn't him anymore. Those are all things I've experienced and live with everyday (and make the very few relations I've managed to keep suffer probably more than me). Of course these behaviors are circursentials. I do not dissociate every day but I can tell you that at my worst I was convinced I had become an evil entity and that entity had killed me. The link between the dark side and hard (hard) drugs is also brilliant. The need to escape the feeling of void inside and be free of the burden of the heavy reality that I create or imagine around me is very relatable. When you are borderline, depending on the degree of course, it is true and probably hard to relate to but, if I am living a stressful emotional situation I see things black or white. You are either with me or against me. I love you, I hate you. I admire you, you're pathetic. These behaviors are so destructive when I look back but in the moment... you better be on my side and I'm not proud of it.

I too have wondered as much. Palp's was just too cagey. Imagine a Starkiller like scenario, where two very powerful Darkside weilders hooked up&had a child. As a wise man once said..."There's always a bigger fish" So just as Palpatine was fearful of the Clones becoming Mandalorian's, Mandalorian's themselves&Jedi ofcourse. Any potential Sith rivals, sumply could not exist in his Empire. Pretty certain he monitored Vader&the Inquisitor's as closely as possible so none would birth a love child. But then again there was one couple who were Inquisitor's? Vader did kill them ofcourse. That said, it would be very cool to see a what if on the subject tbh...very cool indeed.

The first half of the Younglings would turn back to light under the Teachings of Luke Skywalker who was now a Jedi Knight while the rest of the Younglings help Darth Vader kill Darth Sidious. The Rebellion would have a new threat in the form of Sith Warriors along with Emperor Darth Vader but they'll have Backup from Luke Skywalker and the matured Jedi Younglings. While Return of The Jedi would play out exactly how it does with the rebellion taking the fight against the Empire. Luke Skywalker and his Jedi Students would confront Emperor Vader and his Sith apprentices. Both The Jedi and Sith Younglings would fight against each other while Father and Son Begin their duel.

Which lead Ashoka to leave, and that extreme unhealthy dogma that lead Anakin to join Palpatine to begin the extermination of the Jedi and all those who strongly oppose them.

Actually.. Id say BPD, and Bipolar disorder. As he has the high highs as anakin, and the low lows as Vader.
Id say it's accurate, and I would know as I deal with the same issues.
I've also lost everything before. And I do mean everything. My life was destroyed. Home lost, family killed by those who where suppose to be helping them. My health destroyed. Many family members dieing in a very short amount of time. leaving me alone. My life as it was, and any progress I had made towards a life with meaning.. all destroyed.
I rebuilt myself with the help of some people with the kindness and patience to help. But even now, I struggle with some of the same kind of issues. Including the PTSD.
As I said when I first saw episode 2 with my loved ones, Hayden's portrayal of vader was spot on. Almost too good, if I am being perfectly honest. It was hard to watch the first time through. But.. all in all, the prequels were not as bad as some fans made them out to be. They just didn't have experiences, that they could relate to the different portrayals in the stories, so it didn't resonate with some. The level if hate though.. left me wondering who really had the issue with controlling their emotions. The actors portrayals, or the but hurt fans.
    Anyway.. yep.. spot on.

And that is what makes Palpatine so evil even by sith standards, he simply feels nothing for the suffering of others and thus his entire world view is built on selfish pursuits, and then you add the dark side on top of that and voilá: the ultimate sith. It's also his weakness in the end, because Palpatine can't understand why anyone would do something to help someone else without gain, and because of that he gets caught by surprise when Vader turns on him to save Luke.

@@naseemweathers8358 Yes, but this kind of personality is always rooted in extreme pain. So I think would be interesting to see something that went beyond what he embodied as a Darth but what he must have endured in his childhood. Yes, we have talked about that in the lore but I think it lacks a language that can be empathized with. At least this is how I feel about it.

@@lyralince6681 That may be true for sociopaths, which are made, not born, but not for psychopaths like Palpatine which are born this way. Psychopaths are born with the regions of the brain responsible for empathy and compassion severely underdeveloped, or even completely lacking, they aren't the result of external factors and circumstances like sociopaths are. As far as I know, Palpatine had an extremely privileged childhood, having been born to a wealthy and powerful noble family from Naboo, never having lacked anything and been abused or neglected in any way. But he grew to loathe and eventually hate his family and his father in particular, for not striving to accumulate more political power and their lack of political ambition on their part, especially since he knew how jealous his father secretly was of the other nobles and politicians which ruled Naboo, causing him to get into heated arguments with his father over this matter and eventually murdering his entire family in a fit of rage at some point during one of those arguments, when his father revealed how he truly felt about him and that he didn't consider him to be his son at all. But he had never had any reason to believe that he wasn't loved and appreciated by his family before that, and had expressed his psychopathic tendencies like torturing animals and already begun to start studying the Dark Side on his own from an early age before he eventually met his Sith master Plagueis, collecting and studying Sith holocrons he obtained from the black market thanks to his family's considerable wealth. Sometimes, people are just born trash, as was the case with Palpatine.

there is another thing to consider, the supernatural aspect of the force. it's possible Anakin did physically die on the lava river bank of Mustafar. the Emperor used Sith alchemy to bring something back to life but it might not have been the same thing. also just like the Jedi, Sith are still around after physical death as spirits or holocrons. in ROTS when Anakin bends the knee to the Emperor in order to become a Sith there's a moment before Sidious picks a name where you hear voices. so maybe Sidious called upon a Sith spirit that combines with Anakin to become Darth Vader. Anakin is so lost that Vader has control right up to the moment Luke is going to die - then Anakin finally destroys that Sith spirit & returns to the light. Anakin suffers such a violent change of personality in such a short time that maybe it wasn't all him - maybe Palpatine had more to do with it than it first seems

Its deeper then that....it was a spiritual death. Wonder if it has ever really worked in reverse? as in, instead of connecting to the higher self, one connects to the shadows and goes backwards? I suppose its very possible. PLCPTSD...should always be determined too.

I’ll be honest I don’t think that anikan is actually mentally Ill himself, maybe possessive over padé which is understandable considering the fact that anyone would do anything in their power to keep the one they love and held back as every time he had a chance to take on a powerful opponent the counsel would hold him back from doing so like when Obi-wan was voted to be the one to take down grievous.
Everyone gets mad from time to time so when he killed those raiders it was purely out of anger and you could easily tell he was upset about doing it ultimately regretted it after the fact.
In my honest opinion sidious is what made him insane by altering his dreams making them appear to be true future events causing him to become more and more annoyed by small and even big events.
He said in the second movie that padé would appear in his dreams, maybe it wasn’t him obsessing over padé more then sidious making him dream about her causing him to become attached to her for his own plan to turn him.
I mean it only makes sense as he knew about Anikans dreams aside from anikan telling sidious about some of them. While after anikan may of become a stronger force user after becoming darth vader, sidious still could of been altering his mind making him dive deeper in his insanity.
At the end of the 6th movie you can see after he throws sidious off the ledge he becomes more stable and more submissive. Sure part of that is because his suit was disabled after getting electrocuted but his mind is cleared from all the hatred and obsessiveness he once had.
In my opinion is if sidious wasn’t able to alter his dreams that is if he did at all, anikan wouldn’t of turned, he wouldn’t of been so power hungry, or obsessive. He wouldn’t of argued so much with Obi-wan either. Sure there could of still been an attachment to padé but it wouldn’t of been so extreme and his mothers death would of been one Jedi mistake made in his past.
Of course I could be wrong. 🤷‍♂️

im also sick, max bpd with many other "things"....😱
i was severly abused mentaly and body wise, so i also started liking to harm my beloved ones...👹😭😭😭😭😭
sometimes i feel like darth vader myself, im always in a extreme state of sadness and extreme fear when watching vader star wars scenes.😨
especially episode 3, where i alway cry and start shaking, cant control myself!😭😭😭
but also if i get hurt, i can loose control and start to eg hit someone, demonic thoughts are always inside me!👹
other problem is, that iknow what im capable of and that scares me a lot!😱
as much as im sorry for amber heard, she really is a bad person, johnny has live through his evil haunting mother time over time because of that monster of then wive!😞😞😞
im disgusted by her, just as im about palpatine, i hate both!!!🤬🤬🤬
but vader has something good left in him, he saved his sons life, luke skywalker and sent the emperor to hell!👌
    he made the biggest sacrifice!👍😱😭
not many people know, but by being able to cover up my menal state and lying to my superiors, i served in the airforce and army, being promoted earlier than normal to private first class as one of few...🥳
it was a pretty rough time, but that was worth it, i became a man and am able to master life easier now, endure more than ever before, biting through, fight till blood!😈😈😈
thank you george lucas for star wars, my favourite franchise to dive in and forgetting all worries for a moment...😇
a shame what woke disney did to the starry tale...🤬
but vader/anakin is me, my absolute favourite character, from good to bad, to good once again, even disney managed to pull that off!😅
if you feel sad or something more sinister, please seek help via your partner or call 911, please, life is precious, cause death costs you live...❤👋👍☝️👂🙏☎️📞🚑🚨❤
