You should explain why you put the tensioner sprocket on the bottom side and not the top. It might help some people from ripping them off or wearing out the bearings prematurely. I understand if there’s not enough room to put them on the right side but it might help others plan out there swing arm better
Not sure what your issue is. Rotation of the F/N/R box output shaft (and the chain loop) is CCW, which would make the top (right) side of the chains loop the loaded side and make the bottom (left) the lightly stressed return side and the correct place for the tensioner. It seems like you are suggesting that the idler sprocket location is wrong - it isn't.
I know it’s on the right side. I was saying it would be helpful for him to explain why he did it for people that don’t understand it.
Can you explain the chain tensioner and the placement of it more? I plan on using the blastled and I am trying to plan out how to do it.
I’d love to find a solution for building reliable, budget minded, SIMPLE, shtf style of single seater go kart. Basically a bug out rig for going off grid with some gear. Gotta work on my welding skills first haha
I agree I've done some thinking on it. Very much shtf guy, just got into gokarts for the poors like me the best option imo is something light like a dingo with slight height alterations with lights and front end leg protection with 2 tires on the "hood" with your rifle and emergency bag and a roll cage. And a stage 3 predator, preferably a tillitson, with the dual magnetos to charge lights and other electrics. Build a shelf to put your shtf bag over the engine, behind your head, and add plenty of attachments for fuel. Even with only this it will be very heavy, without a suspension build you may need to make several trips to pick up and move the front end. But suspension builds add weight and money and complexity. But I digress, I have limited gokart experience and hope to learn to weld soon as well. I have modded my dingo with a few of the mods as a proof of concept and have taken it through the woods quite hard it performs way better than I expected with a slight height increase and slanted shielding the goes all the way under the front let's you hit logs and lips and bulldoze over it instead of ramming it,of course it's not a miracle worker and depending on terrain and skill of driving determines how often you get stuck mostly. Anyways hope this helps you build your own machine a way you like!
Edit: also it depends on what you want out of it if you want to mount a boom stick on the hood put a bunch of armor on front and charge them do that but my assessment is some protection mostly used to move away initially and be used for "runs" whatever that may be.

Greg, you mention the F/N/R box has a 2 to 1 gear reduction in forward. Did you spin the shafts and verify this? Reason I ask is that many times the ratio gets mis-printed. I have had several of the generic F/N/R boxes apart and in forward they use have had 10T input sprockets and 13T outputs for a 1:1.3 ratio. So, is there actually another version of the box out there that has different gearing I haven't seen yet, or is the info listed in the description wrong?

what size belt did you use?
Make your carts rear end free without the side lean. All you must do is cut that rear pan hard/torque bar in the middle and weld a bolt with a fulcrum plate that is 1/3 the length of each pan hard/torque bar. Weld an eyelet on each cut pan hard/torque bar and bolt to fulcrum plate. Make sure bolt for fulcrum plate is welded with a nut and bracket to either upper or lower frame. Zigzag pan hard/torque bar. Looks like the capital letter "N" sideways with the fulcrum plate being the middle slant of the "N" and the fulcrum bolt in the middle.

WHY DOES THE 780 DRIVEN HAVE TO BE TURNED AROUND AND THE 40 DRIVEN DOES NOT OR WAS NOT ON THE ONE YOU PULLED OFF. And CAN THE 780 BE TURNED THE OPPOSITE WAY WITH A SPRING CHANGE JUST WONDERING CAUSE A KART I BUILT THE 780 DRIVEN HAS TO BE TURNED OPPOSITE OF THE ONE IN YOUR VIDEO BUT THE BELT WON'T STAY LINED UP ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
