Thank you Maarten for this video. It is so far the most insightful, objective and honest first impression review video on RUclips that makes all the other X-E4 videos appear shallow and commercial-like.
Although the sleek body styling, titltable 1.63 million-dot LCD, and X-Trans IV sensor are welcomed upgrade over the X-E3, the omission of some customizable physical controls is a grave disappointment that would be a deal-breaker for potential X-E buyers, IMHO.
Please let us know, in your upcoming in-depth review, what you think and feel, coming from an X-E3 user (especially in the street photography aspect), how the lack of IBIS when combined with non-OIS lenses, the abolishment of the M-C-S focus mode dial, the rear command dial, view mode button and the merge of AFL and AEL buttons into one, and the same 0.39 inch EVF as on X-E3 affect your photographic experience. Would the omission of the aforementioned physical controls slow you down and make you miss decisive moments?

I love the X-E4 because it caused a price drop for the X-E3 - Just bought a new Silver body X-E3 for £319 (UK) whereas a new X-E4 body is £800 on release.
I have an XT-4, but £319 for a 2nd body, take anywhere/steet handy camera body that shares my existing lenses is such a bargain. I'm thinking the X-E3 will give me some joy on my walks around London. I've always fancied an X100 for walkabouts but the X100V is £1,300 --- I have all the small XF primes so my £319 body bargain makes me happy before I've even taken a shot with it.

Easy answer - the Xpro 3! It depended though - here’s the caveat - if you need to do high speed flash photography on the cheap, then you’ll need the X100-series - the leaf shutter enables this very neatly - and lead shutter only exists in cameras with built in optics/lens

Great video! I've been waiting for a new X-E model to make the jump from M43 to Fuji X. I love small bodies, I love the EVF in the corner and I love the emphasis on stills (including the tilting screen). Kitting with the new 27mm lens with the aperture ring is very very good news!
Given Fuji's recent bodies I wasn't surprised to see the lack of 4-way d-pad though I do still wish they'd bring it back.
I was surprised by the lack of IBIS, especially after the S10, by the lack of a focus mode dial and by the lack of a rear dial and any sort of grip front or back.
Am I crazy - or would this camera feel like a down-grade in many ways from my Panasonic GX9? Just feel kinda disappointed and confused.
Why do camera manufacturers seem to think the only people who want compact bodies are beginners or people confused by or turned off by physical controls? Clearly the X100V shows Fuji knows this isn't the case - did the memo just not make it's way to the X-E team?
I'd recommend the slightly wider 23mm lens. It is lesser in a few ways than the G9, but the focus system here is clearly superior.
I agree - why is size equated to functionality? Photographers well-versed in the art also appreciate a small camera.
As a x-e3 owner, I must say I am quite underwhelmed by the update to the lineup. Streamlining the handling and aesthetic is fine and all but taking away the mcs dial, rear dial, and built in grip found on the e3 is frankly baffling to me, and the ridiculous cost for the supposed "extra" grip accessories is just a slap in the face in my opinion. Also, I have no idea what future the XE series hold, as with this release it really conveyed the idea of compactness, but it's stripped down so much that it doesn't entice the enthusiast. What is especially confusing is the execution puts the x-e4 puts it at risk of being overshadowed by so many other Fuji models. If I want streamlined, easy to use ILC as a beginner to the X system, I would opt for the x-a7. If I'm trying out X system as a dslr beginner, the xs-10 makes so much more sense. If I'm a no fuss photographer who is after the rangefinder aesthetic, I would opt for the x100, and get so much more features like built-in nd, hybrid viewfinder, WR and more. Lastly, if this update strips so many features, I might as well just go for a used x-pro2, or shell out for the x-pro3. Even more so with the push of the x-e4 alongside the new 27mm, I have no idea why the lens have WR but the camera that launches with it doesn't. Maybe I just need to try one in store to find out.
I agree that Fujifilm has too many models with overlapping abilities to make a clear distinction between them. I agree, the X-S10 makes more sense.
I would not stress over WR - unless you're going out in a rainstorm, this will not affect your enjoyment of the camera under nearly all weather conditions.
Yet another clean and clear overview. Looking forward to the detailed review Maarten. BTW, for a hobby photog who is looking for a camera for occasional family pics and content for RUclips videos (mostly indoor), do you see any reason to get the S10 over the E4?
I'm just starting and will do a full comparison - but my sense is that I prefer the X-S10.

Love your reviews! Question: Can the ISO be assigned to the front dial on the X-E4? And if so, will turning the dial to the top of the ISO scale take you to the auto ISO settings like on the X-E3?
Yes, ISO is one of the possible assignments, including auto.

Thanks for your kind words. I don't think weather sealing (such as it is) is a necessary feature for all but a few. I don't consider this (or the lack of in body stabilization) to be major misses.
Good overview. They nerfed the XE4, just like they messed up the XP3. I'll still with the XE-3 for compact and the XT3/4 for Fashion and video

Hey Maarten, thanks for your first impressions. When the embargo was lifted all those videos about the E4 popped up but I was sure there would be one made by you and there is no need to rush it, it would be worth the wait. It is rather unlikely I will be buying this new X-E camera but I am looking forward to seeing your more in depth review. In the meantime I'll go back to the E3 review while contemplating about getting one of those now being on discount. Best wishes.

The X-E3 has a better set of solutions, except for the flip screen, which is an improvement.
Maybe there will be an X-E4 WR in a year or two.

The flip screen and the new sensor and processor are the only things which I find compelling enough to upgrade from my X-E3, I’ll need to handle one first to really see if it’s worth it, but I won’t be rushing out anytime soon to upgrade, but then I guess no one will be...for the moment.
As for an X-E5? My gut says I wouldn’t hold your breath, there were rumours that the X-E line was going to be dropped back in 2019, if this model doesn’t sell well, that may still be the case? But what does my gut know, expect when it’s hungry 😊

Great review again. I was looking forward to the X-E4 because of the screen and same fantastic 26MP sensor as on my X-S10 (bought thanks to you). I had already placed my X-E3 for sale but quickly removed the advert after discovering some of my own hate features, in particular the absence of the back dial. I am keeping my money to purchase the new 70-300mm for my X-S10 and will keep using my X-E3 as my always-with-me camera.

Nice review, Maarten! I've always had an eye for the XE series. I still have my X-T1 camera, and it's been tremendous for my needs in every way. Obviously, video isn't one of them. My next purchases won't be chasing the latest new camera, but opting for more lenses. Results: I love that I've found a camera manufacturer that provides such a pulse in what photographers enjoy next to picture taking. Fujifilm provide cameras that embody spirit, smarts, and elegance. Add to that, performance, and suddenly, full frame doesn't seem so important as much as photographic soul.

your usual superb review Maarten. The camera doesn't interest me, but the 70-300mm lens does as a replacement for my 55-200 (which I find a little soft past 135mm) so fingers crossed you'll be reviewing that and sharing some sample images?

I completely agree with you on how the body changes and reduction of direct controls undermines its usability. I was intending to buy this camera along with the new 27mm. But the body changes are deal breakers for me.
Have a look for the X-E3 with the 23mm instead.
I think X-E4 is geared to be a compact premium mirrorless. But sacrificing control dials, buttons, and grips makes me sad as I use an X-E3 (I loved the ergonomics of that model). Although the features of the new X-E4 are indeed something to consider. Would like to see how this camera fares with overheating when using it as a video conferencing camera. How long would it take turn off in 4k and 1080p. (If it does overheat.) Thanks for the preview. Looking forward for the review.

Thanks for your reviews Maarten, I am a subscriber to your channel. I love Fujifilm cameras and currently own a X-T3. I previously owned a X-E1, X-E2s, and X-E3 which I used for street photography. I wanted to buy a X-E4 to replace the X-E3 mostly because of the tilt screen, but unfortunately Fujifilm decided to remove the essential rear dial which I always used as a on/off focus zoom for manual focus lenses. This is a deal breaker for me, there aren't enough buttons and dials for the sake of simplicity, what a shame.. No grip? Come one Fuji! All they needed to do is leave the ergonomics and buttons of the X-E3, add a tilt screen, include the new sensor and processor, and call it a X-E3s or X-E4 even. I don't like the P button vs the previous Auto switch. As a side note the X-T3 is too small and cumbersome for all its buttons and dials, I keep pressing buttons by mistake when I move my fingers, to the point that I disabled them, especially the front small button, also the rear dial is not raised enough from the body making it difficult to press at times. I'm not sure what to get at this point, the X-100V is limited to a single lens, and getting the reducer and extender means that I would have to carry and equipment pouch or bag, not an option for me as a street photographer. I miss the X-E3 but was hoping for a tilt screen. I really like Fujifilm cameras, their SOOC images and colors, but alas I may have to ditch this brand due to ergonomics which they can't seem to focus on.

I have just seen your video about the Fuji XE4 and I think it's wonderfully honest and can understand all loves and hates, yes share them.
I'm a hybrid filmmaker, sometimes also interested in photography and that's how I got to know the X-T200 and XS10. But I was even more creative with the simple X-T200 and I was happy even without IBIS.
Hence my question and request for the upcoming review of the XE4 to also test the stabilization with and without electronic stabilization. This is interesting when you use the non-stabilized prime lenses.

In the end I have to say, now I like the Fuji XE4. I might buy them myself, but only with the accessories you suggested.

Maarten, how well does the EVF on the X-E4 lend itself to glasses wearers? I prefer keeping them on when shooting.
Same question for the X-T(2, 3, 4) series cameras? I assume they are the same - though I probably shouldn't.
The X-E4's has a smaller eyecup, so is easier to maneuver with glasses. I can't see the whole image though without moving my eye around - but I think that's my prescription. The larger eyecups on the X-Tx cameras present more of a challenge with glasses - but I do generally take them off.
Thank you for the sweet review! A couples of questions for you: is it possible to assign a button as view mode for switching from evf to lcd (and viceversa)? Because I read that the Xe4 does not have this button.

Yes, view mode is an option, for example for the AEL/AFL key. Also customizations are supported for the front dial.

Maybe you can answer my questions in your full review.I’m going to trade in my Canon Gx5 Mark II for this as my travel camera( when we can travel again) and may eventually switch over to Fujifilm if the new Olympus owners don’t pass muster. How May buttons are customizable. I like being able to have the ability to create a setting that includes B&W with my exposure preferences or just switching to it as I can with my Pen F. I also like to have a button for switching to preset movie settings. I read that mapping the ISO to a button is also needed. Can the X-E4 handle this?
Thanks for the kind words. There are 3 customizable buttons. The best way to accomplish what you want is with the custom configurations. The ISO is already mapped to a button. Movie settings are already independent from stills.

No, I would not.
Impossible to answer this comparison without knowing your needs or preferences - those two cameras have two different approaches to delivering the photography experience

Great review. I think X-s10 is a better option for me given IBIS and the grip and it seems to be similar in size. Different knobs and wheels, but it will be my first Fuji anyway so I will get used to whatever I choose, I suppose. Any thoughts regarding the two options if video is somewhat important?
Thanks, a pleasure to read your kind words. I think the X-S10 is a better option in several ways. If video is important, have a look at the X-T3 or X-T4, both of which are substantially better video cameras.
Thank you Maarten for the excellent Video! Is it possible to deactivate the eyesensor on the X-E4 when the screen is away from the camera body? I read that it flips the screen even if you dont whant it to, for example for low shoots.
I haven't found that setting.

Wow, this was such a good overview, it basically confirms my ergonomic fears of the X-E4. Fuji can throw out some serious nice cameras that all have a bunch of strange ergonomic design decisions. I love my X-e3 yet hated my now gone x-e2, and I realize now its because of these strange design decisions is why Fuji users change bodies so often. The X-e3 at least to me is camera that has the least amount of design compromises.

Hi Maarten, Thanks for this video, you've addressed some of the specifics that I've not been able to yet resolve from other sites/videos. I do have a few questions if you have time to answer, or include in your review video would be greatly appreciated.
I almost exclusively photograph with adapted manual pentax lenses, so much of what is available on a modern digital camera is entirely lost on me. I do however have some very specific needs....
My questions:
-The viewfinder from a manual focus point of view, is it up to the task? I currently use an a6500 as a point of comparison if you are familiar with it.
- Is it possible to program both ISO and focus assist to separate and handy buttons? Focus assist is something I use constantly and hope for a single press to enter a zoomed view on the focus point and a single press to exit the zoom. ISO I tend to set for a session and leave but do change from time to time.
- Is it possible to set Exposure Lock to a half pressed shutter? On the occasions that I set auto iso I often will point the camera somewhat away from my composition to drag the iso to where I want it then lock it there with a half press of the shutter.
- Is it possible to turn the screen off entirely? I don't use it ever, wish it wasn't there!

Although the diopter on the A6500 has a slightly larger range, they are pretty much identical 2.4m dot OLEDs.
Yes, you could use the top button for ISO (the default) and re-assign the AEL/AFL to focus punch in.
Yes, focus locks with a soft press and holds while you reframe.
If you combine the lowest LCD setting with the dark ambient setting (it's kind of a dark orange) it is very faint, but not off.

Did you notice if X-E4 has film simulation bracket, If not It will be deal breaker for me, Thanks for paying attention to details on your reviews. You are the best for camera reviews, I recommend to all my friends.
I can confirm it has film simulation, white balance and focus brackets. I don't understand why that's a deal breaker - the easiest way to use alternate film sims is to shoot RAW and then add then in playback.
Fujifilm is becoming the second Apple.
Removes features (grip and thumb grip), then sells solutions to the problems caused by these removals.
Certainly Apple has had enormous success with that approach - their sales increase in the last quarter was quite remarkable. Maybe this is the initiative Fujifilm needs to step up their market share?
I am just starting to look at Fuji. I read about using a phone app for a cable release. That seems problematic if you phone is dying or you are doing long exposures. Does this camera have any type of plug for a electronic cable release or is a phone app your only option?
The X-E4 supports the old school manual shutter release cable as well as remote shutter release (it connects to the mic port).

I do not understand GPG or VS. The X-E4 has a focal plane shutter.

Hi Martin thanks for the content. At 4:12 or so you mentioned that the aperture ring on the new 70mm - 300mm zoom isn't marked. I've heard other people make similar observations about other variable aperture zooms. I think you're very good at explaining things so people can easily follow along. So if you mentioned that marking the aperture wouldn't make sense because when you zoom from short to long focal length the widest aperture setting changes from f4 to f5.6. Hence the ring isn't marked. I think you might be able to see why you should the person to explain this because I see as I'm writing this that I'm not doing a great job of explaining it. So for Fujifilm at least, only their "constant aperture" zooms like the 50 -140mm f 2.8 lens for example have aperture ring markings.

Thanks for your kind words, and your faith in my ability to explain.
While I appreciate your detailed explanation, that does not deter others from providing ramped lenses with markings.
In addition, even with Fujifilm's marked lenses, there are dials and other firmware settings in the camera that over-ride the markings - so, this is not really an explanation that holds a lot of water. I prefer markings, particularly as one of the attributes of Fujifilm cameras for me are the physical, manual, visible exposure controls.
Finally someone who addresses the lack of grip at the top of the vid and calls Fuji out for adding hundreds of dollars to the price through accessories. I'm not as concerned about the lack of a front grip, but the lack of the thumb catch makes the hotshoe unusable.
Thanks. Yes, there's that. As I said, a design flaw so obvious should have been addressed in the original design.
@@MaartenHeilbron leica and Olympus have both used flat-front designs but made up for it with strong, recessed thumb catches which don't even add to the camera's thickness. I want to love this camera, but that omission is maddening.

as a X-E3 user, I was hoping for an E4. Hoped for an articulating LCD and a WR body. The design is great, the LCD is great
Love that Fujiremoved the autoswitch of the E3, hate that Fuji removed the wheel on the back.
Nice to get a new 27mm with WR, but why offer this with a non-WR body?
Stick to my non-WR E3 with the non-WR 27mm. Dissappointed, maybe I need to switch to X100V
Do you really need a WR body? I'm surprised by the number of viewers who seem to feel this is essential, while I think it's anything but. Most cameras are more weather resistant that you'd think, so combined with a reasonable amount of care, you should not have issues. Weather sealing, such as it is on most cameras, provides very little benefit and certainly doesn't allow you to be careless.

Can you have a wheel for aperture, shutter speed, iso, for each i mean? Other fuji have more dials on top for this. Is there option to have bracketting options with a quick button ? I see the fuji xt30 has that on a dial wheel, how do you feel this one with less dials but being smaller which is good for daily use? Thanks
There are not dedicated dials. Depending on the lens, you adjust aperture using a ring on the lens, you adjust shutter speed and ISO by selecting the appropriate mode and the assigned dial. It's not optimal, but you can get used to it, particularly if you are not a fully manual exposure photographer. Let autoISO, and maybe auto shutter do their job.
Great review as always. I wish they would have borrowed the built in thumb rest and front grip of the X-pro series.
Good suggestion. The fact that they included those accessories in the review kit (packaged in a single box by Fujifilm) suggests they understood the value of those options. I asked, there will not a a consumer version of the unit I received (with the grips).
With the custom settings, can you assign individual white balance and the respective WB colour shift to individual ones or is that a general setting in this body. Nice first impressions. Lots of details covered that have been overlooked so far, like the ISO button.

There are a lot of possible customization options for the two keys - but that's the issue, only two keys.
The front command dial is not customizable.
I can predict how you would react, but would suggest that the X-S10 might be a better choice, with the X-T30 as second choice.

The reason for not choosing the X-S10 right away is look and missing traditional Fujifilm flavours in layout. Looks like Nikon, Canon style camera.
X-T30 may not get latest firmware update. And also old firmware and same price.
My main purpose is street photography and landscape photography and also use telelens (55-200) or new (70-300). I won’t do more videos.

Seeing how that model is now roughly 200$ cheaper in my country, I am in the market for either the X-E4 but also considering the X-E3 now. After hearing the shutter sound effect, I thought..... if Pentax had a sound simulation, similar to the K1000, people around you would be looking for a car that hit a brick wall. Lol! The X-E4 seems to be a decent little camera. Has more of a film camera look, especially with the mode dial set up the way it is. Also like the lack of buttons where your thumb goes on the back. My camera has the record video button right there & it has been accidentally pushed at the most inopportune times. Also hit the review button below it on occasion, too. The thumb rest looks to be a love/hate thing. It looks nice & handy. Has the advance lever aesthetic though it's facing the wrong way. The there's the fact that it mounts to the flash shoe. Kind of a dumb idea in my book. Will you be testing the camera with any other lenses besides the one that comes with it?

QUESTION: You mentioned that turning the shutter dial while the lens is on auto will put the photographer into Aperture priority... how will this work with the old 27mm f2.8 which doesn't have an aperture ring? i.e. is there another way to force manual mode?
Thanks, I loved your kind words! That feature is not dependent on the lens's dial - it happens when you press the front dial, regardless of the setting on the lens.

As an XT-4 user, I HATE that it doesn't use the new battery. I would love to use this as a smaller runabout camera, but having different kinds of camera batteries is just a a hassle I don't want to deal with.
Understood. In general though, Fujifilm uses the same battery in more models than most manufacturers.
After taking a shot on the XE-3, you can press the rear scroll wheel once to zoom in 100% in playback to check focus. How do you do this on the XE-4 without the back wheel? This function doesn't seem to be something you can program onto a button.
On the X-E4, you do it with the front wheel.
Do you recommend this camera to someone (that's me ha ha) who always wanted to get the Fujifilm X70 but couldn't get it because it was discontinued before he could buy it? (And then said person got a Canon G1 X Mark III but still wants to get something like a Fujifilm X70).
If it's the style your after, yes. Otherwise, take the X-S10, pretty much same features, better camera.

Front dial also switch between ss and iso? Use that on my xt3, is quickest and needed wo extra buttons for auto iso, eg.
How does it work with thumb rest and back button focus? It sure obstructs the Q, but I for my part could live with that. As long as the exposure and focus settings can be quickly set.... don't change wb often for example.

Grip w thumb rest only? Would want to keep it small. Pair 27mm and 18 f2.

Yes, the front dial is customizable - I'll demonstrate in the review. Will also go over custom settings - lots of viewers are asking about that. For back focus, my thumb nestles in nicely under the thumb rest. Yes (as long as it's enabled in the menu) all modes focus with soft press.

I was going to buy first fujifilm camera in T-30 and now saw this camera. But the rear dial is not seen. You mentioned in the middle of video about hybrid shutter which can change to aperture or shutter priority by having P mode? Did not understand that. But just because read dial is missing, I feel T-30 is better. I used Nikon FM 10 and in digital used canon series but now want to experience shutter dials and film experience in digital. You can do T-30 vs X-E4 video?
Typically in Program mode, a camera has a dial to adjust (shift) the settings with different combinations of aperture and shutter that yield the same exposure result. On the X-E4, the shift can be driven by the shutter duration OR the aperture, a nice innovation.
When a camera has both a front and rear dial, in manual mode, there are dials for both the shutter and the aperture. However, as there is a shutter duration dial on top, and most Fujifilm lenses have an aperture ring, the lack of a rear dial on the X-E4 is not a problem.
The one feature that many asked is about the zoom during playback - but now the front dial is used for that purpose.

Generally in program mode, for a same exposure result, camera decides the shutter speed or aperture and sometimes the result is weird and not an intelligent response. But do you mean in XE-4, we can have a pre-choice to decide the aperture and then camera decides the shutter speed for the needed exposure or we alternatively we have a choice to decide the shutter speed and then camera decides aperture? Aperture priority or shutter speed priority modes are available in canon digital. But was not available in Fuji but cleverly available here but not as digital buttons (like in X-S10) but a feature hidden with film buttons effect? If it is so, then it is indeed very clever stuff.
Aperture mode in rear side is more intuitive to use for faster shots. But when it is about slowing down, the change of aperture at lens level is a great experience.
So the front dial is for video purpose and not useful for taking stills?
I had finalised T-30 to buy but now XE4 seems good but confusion will end with more added clarity as have been gaining from your video and comment.
Lastly they have removed the front body button of shifting to manual mode. That has an effect on user experience? How it has been for you?
@@twocupsstudio The settings I'm referring to are in program mode. If you want to decide the aperture, use aperture priority (adjusting the aperture using the ring on the lens). To decide shutter, use the shutter dial. Those modes are available on all Fujifilm X models, although mostly they are not selected using a mode dial - yes, clever.
For video, consider the X-S10 or even better, the X-T3 or 4.
@@MaartenHeilbron Yes mode dial feature is added one in this. So that is good. For me, lightweight camera and taking stills are priority and so Xt-30 or T3 or E-4 can be good. I think. I was just double-minded about X E-4 and how the missing of rear dial may impact the experience and other functional/ease of use aspects. I saw your video on why cameras are being sold less. will comment there an interesting observation.
It would be good to know if the auto mode (program in this one) also records raw image like the Xs10, which was the first to do it. The earlier cameras with auto switch only did jpeg in this mode.
Great video as always. I kind of think that Fuji forgot too much about ergonomics on this one in favor of style.
There is no full auto mode on the X-E4. I'm not aware of any camera that doesn't record RAW in program mode.

What about using the x-e4 with glasses? Eye point distance is shorter than X-T and X-E2? Does it work well?
I nearly always remove my glasses when shooting with the viewfinder (I use the camera to leverage them up slightly and have adjusted the diopter accordingly). Although I assume it depends on your prescription, I find I can't see the whole screen with my glasses on.
@@MaartenHeilbron ok Thx! I always have glasses on.... with X-T2 it works well but with the smaller Fujifilm bodys it is an issue.... I had an X-T20 and guess that the X-E4 has the same eye point distance then.

A pleasure to read your kind words. There is no simple answer to your question, as it depends on the aperture you choose to use and the ISO you're prepared to tolerate.
In general, 1/125 is regarded as the slowest shutter speed to avoid the blur caused by camera movement.

It's a beautiful looking camera, but I just bought an X-E3, for the main reason it has the Focus Mode Switch, I love the back Command dial with the Focus preview at a press, I prefer the customisability of the 3 over the 4, which has lost buttons. And finally the 3 surely feels better in the hand. For me there isn't enough in the 4 to want it.
I certainly don't need it with three superb Fujifilm cameras in my collection.

Hi, I thought that removing the focus selector (m,s,c) may have the advantage of a more rapid switch to a custom settings group, I mean: if you choose one of the 7 custom settings to be your ‘sports-action’ settings you could program there the wide focus area, the continuous focus mode and decide if you want face detection all at once, without having to remember to switch the manual focus selector to ‘c’.....could this be the case?
Yes, but it would still be nice to have a manual switch. Physical/manual controls have been one of the major advantages and attractions of most Fujifilm cameras.

Thre overall capabilities of the camera (photo /video) is impressive. The lack of physical controls/buttons looks like a step backwards from my X-E2.

My x20 has a grip and focus selector on the front. I liked the X-E4 and thought it would make a good upgrade. You can buy the optional removable grip for the X-E4. But, can’t really give up my x20.👋

There is focus selector in the fuji lens, also its few clicks with a joystick. Grip could be attached to body but to be serious I dont really see a problem in buying it separately. I love this minimalist design without stupid buttons

Yes, I've seen that they can be assigned. However, I've not been very successful in actually using them.
A feature I really like (well, need) on my XE3 is the focus zoom for manual-focus old lenses. On that camera, it's (by default) the "short press" option on the rear dial. The XE4 has no rear dial; how is focus zoom initiated? (One of these days I'll take the "long press" option off that dial because I literally never want to change focus assist mode.)
You can assign "focus check" to the AEL/AFL key for a punch in. On the other hand, stay with the X-E3?
Love the informative manual! One my XE3 when using a XC lens (no aperture ring) I change aperture using the rear dial. How is this done in Aperture Priority on the XE4?

Thanks very much! Do you really need another film sim? Not sure what you mean by "snap mode"? The Q menu can have up to 16 entries (it's customizable).

I have a Nikon SB-15. The head swivels for bounce flash. II wonder if i would compliment the X E4.
There are several inexpensive flashes available for Fujifilm cameras - but Nikon flashes are not compatible.
