Played this against my son. Saw my opening hand and told him," sorry". No mana crypt but had a basalt and unwinding clock. By turn three had Urza's battlethopter out and a flux cannon. I don't get to play that deck very often. Sidenote, turn 4 drew All is Dust.
Just the other day, my friend was playing the Zhulodok eldrazi precon, i was playing a Windgrace deck, and another friend was playing his Ur-dragon deck. Zhulodok curb stomped us for 12 rounds and messed around until Ur-dragon played a board wipe then stole zhulodoks It That Betrays, followed by Nicol Bolas. Left me at 5 life, and zhulodok at 6, ur dragon had 21 life. I kept drawing lands, and couldnt do anything. Next up, zhulodok. Dude has 16 lands out, an Ugin planeswalker for a 2 mana discount on colorless spells, and an artifact for casting from the top of your library, as well as a single Skittering Cicada (2/2 that gices your colorless spells flash, and gets +x/+x when you cast a spell, where x is the mana cost of that spell) that he played right after the board wipe. With 16 mana, dude managed to use various cards to draw all the lands at the top of his library (6 or so, i think), and cast 7 artifacts and creatures from it, bringing Skittering Cicada up to a 26/26. Ur-Dragon is tapped out, no blockers available. Gets hit for lethal. Cue my turn, i draw a birds of paradise and forfeit lmao
I also have a friend who plays Zulu Hulu deck. bro wasn't doing shyt till it came out and started double cascading. next thang you know his board state got ridiculous. had a few annihilators and other mana rocks, meanwhile I'm running mono green ghalta discount dino. I also had board state with a few large power creature like gigantosaurus 10/10 and pugnaciousness hammer 6/6. top deck triumph of the hordes and had to kill Zulu.
I once played a game on the play with Kozilek (the one that draws cards) where I played Ancient Tomb, Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Paradox Engine, Mana Crypt, and then I emptied my hand (don't remember what all it was, this was so long ago.) I dropped Kozilek, drew 7 cards, and passed with a full hand, more mana than I knew what to do with and a 10/10 that can discard cards to counter spells. The rest of the table scooped and they made me play another deck, lol
@@lsynno eh, there's plenty of ways to win with infinite mana, some pieces aren't legendary so you can have multiple in your deck to draw.... And most importantly, this is a short. Drawing into the combo one way or another on turn 2 or 3 is still damn good. 😂
@@FFKonokohes playing edh, so 100 cards and no duplicates. Due to the lack of colored mana he cant even play tutors in this deck, so an opening hand like that would be the equivalent of winning the lottery.
I mean if they play vintage or some shit landing this hand or a similar win con hand isn't statistically hard. Hell it can intact be really REALLY easy. Edit: there is a reason high level modern plays like a spitfire game of "defuse the landmine"
Note that this would only be possible in Vintage or EDH due to legality of Mana Crypt and Sol Ring But on a positive note, in EDH with Kozilek as commander to draw a new hand, then an Altar effect, you can cast your whole library turn one. Fun stuff!! Never sleep on the colorless strats.
One eldrazi colourless deck with kozilek, and one artifact colourless with like 6 different commander possibilities, i remember when ubt came out and i rejoiced for a new (playable) colourless commander that wasnt hope of g, or traxos (although i still love him)

Yugioh is like a modern liberal western nation. Highly regulated with an emphasis on fairness, though someone usually ends up on top anyway. In contrast, MTG is like a wild west libertarian wonderland. Tons of no holds barred fuckery but slower speed, so it's harder to pull off OTK and combos. Each county(format) decides the laws of the land so pick and choose to live(play) how you want.
Ahh Magic Christmas Combo Land. The world where you get the exact 7 cards you need for a ridiculous combo on the first draw out of a 60-100 card deck. Definitely the most realistic depiction of the game!

This is a pretty interesting Combo, I play Colorless Ulamog ramp in Arena, and I have a Myr Tribal deck physically, I think I have an idea of the next Deck im building.
I fucking knew it. Once he played Basalt Monolith. I knew the card he was going to play next was going to be Walking Balista because that's a combo I ran. But not in a pure colorless deck it also had Red in it. Gotta have back up plans.😂😂😂
I have never let go of colourless and artifacts after one single game I played in college. One guy in class had set up an MtG club, and we had a power cube session. My opponent played a Spectra Ward on one of his creatures. I am now, 10 years later, still haunted by that one game he managed to win despite my 34/34 on the board.
I still dream of the time ill have a turn like that with my Karn Legacy Reforged deck. Didnt realize Forsaken Monument + Basalt Monolith was infinite mana though, will have to work towards that next time i play
my favourite deck i have is a commander colourless artifact deck. its decently powerful, but does have a bad habbit of having 20 minute turns jsut from a ridiculous amount of interactions with it self in an ungodly borad state.

If the commander is Kozilek the Great Distortion there is no such thing as 1 card left in hand.

I've got a colorless Eldrazi deck with 2 copies of a sorcery that deals damage any time I play a colorless card. Basically passive damage.

The way I was taught, you couldn't tap cards when they first entered the field because tapping was considered to be hindered by summoning sickness.
