Sick Powerfest Powered By Dodge and M1 Concourse was a huge horsepower party featuring the Sick World Burnout Championship, Dodge thrill rides in their Demon 170, Hellcat Challengers and Chargers and even Hornets offroad. Plus a show and shine and Tony Stewart's NHRA nitro Top Fuel and Funny Car team were on site!
I went for a ride with Summernats champion Lynchy and well....you'll just have to see.
Damn that little blue machine has been a massive part of Aussie culture for such a long time, it is a sad moment for us all to see it go.
At least it went out doing what it was meant to do, sending it!

The top Australian competitors can earn a couple of hundred thousand a year in prize money and it's usually all sunk back into the car and 'consumables'.
A lot of them start out with cars they have put together with old/gifted/borrowed/salvaged/repurposed parts, skip a few cases of beer to buy rubber and slowly upgrade win after win untill they resemble legitimate show cars with 'mountain motors' that everyone then just assumes they paid for with shrapnel out of the couch crevice and pocket lint.
No different than any other motorsport...if you can't afford to write your car off you shouldn't be playing.
About the only good I can think of about this event is Tom making some Stellantis money before they go out of business.

@@nedkelly9688 I’m hoping you’re correct but it did look like it had a good twist with an extreme bend in more than one place. Depends on how much damage has been done previously too? Like the original build, did it need to be tweaked at all, has it been in any accidents before. I’m pretty sure it was a good, clean, straight ‘rolla from the beginning.

The world burnout championship is called Summernats and none of these cars would even qualify.

I thought this was for real car guys that are real mechanics and that can build a car from the ground up and we get to watch them do so. The same person that built it is the same person that drives it
That would be a monumental ask these days.. Owner builder, driver guys are still building in the back shed on a shoe string buget.. new age car guy pays everyone to build a car then can't drive it to save his life.. such a shame..

The entry and exit were too big in this one. too easy to turn around unlike Summernats is tighter and need more skill...

Ummm No. The parts were not up to the task. Hate to break it to you Dodge but you should have known the people you picked to participate in this little experiment know what they're doing and they are gonna send it sooo, y'all should have had your parts up to the challenge.
Also, just to reiterate what everybody else is saying...nobody wants an electric charger.
To be fair it looks like the steel burnout pads to save their precious race surface created a situation where when Tom came off the steel pad and a 2 inch tire drop onto asphalt under burnout power was enough to upset the driveshaft and tail housing causing it to break. The steel pads caused the problem. You can't stop heating the tires without driving out of the burnout. TH400s don't like 3 gear burnouts under throttle then slam the throttle shut because the sprag hates life. For years I do a 3 gear th400 burnout then roll off the throttle and foot break at same time. Comes out silly smooth and no jerky action and trans stays happy. In this case that shock from a sudden change in pinion angle out of a burnout from the drop off the steel pad definitely was the cause of that failure. A broken tail shaft housing on the ground is never good but not a terrible fix normally. However this trans they were required to use I'm sure are not even in the junkyard yet let alone on somebody's shelf at home where you can go grab the parts and fix it at the track.
I'm just carrying on right now, but Im just sayin' it was the steel burnout pads that caused this.

The trans came apart under power, still on the steel plate...it was just rolling garbage by the time it hit the pavement.

A lot of rules and regulations in this thing huh. Little to mainstream for me I like the rowdiness of the freedom factory. The tires exploding, the fireballs, the crashes Cletus running out there standing on the car that still burning its tires. Your rally cars at this show have to go slow. I haven't seen anybody go full throttle in the burnout and blow their tires. It just seems like the city had the tame everything down
The dude that received major 2nd degree burns over his body because of the insufficient tech requirements that let him compete with no 'firewall' separation panel protecting him from the rear mounted radiator just inches from his back...

Burnouts on skinny wheels is lame af.
When you do multiple runs a weekend, people prefer not to spend thousands of dollars on tyres for 2 mins run time. These cars have 1000hp plus. They can do a burnout on any size tyre. But certain tyres have a certain purpose. 355 mickey thompsons are not for a 2 min burnout to be thrown away after.

Ok so this is America so why exactly copy Australian burn outs? We are American we make everything our own. Tom never copy put your own American twist on it brother. We are not a copy we are OG. Now we may barrow some ideas here and there. While understand American burn outs were primarily donuts and straight lines but we were good at that at least lol.

Like most genuine die hard rev heads, even if it's not their thing they can still appreciate the effort and passion put into any modified vehicle and still rather watch 'boring' car chit than a bunch of dudes running around all trying to fondle a ball.
