Tbh I have mixed feelings about the inhibitor chip plot device. However, even if some clones didn't think it was right, you still have Cody shooting Obi-Wan with zero hesitation, so I suppose their hands were tied. After watching this a few months ago, I just realize why Cody didn't shoot but negotiate for release of the hostage. He still remember how to negotiate, just like his fame Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi.
I have a theory, when order 66 was first given most clones immediately executed it. That’s when the chip was in its prime. I think, with more time passing the inhibitor chip gets weaker and weaker overtime and has less control over the clones that’s why we see Cody start question things even with his chip still in
I love how at the start of the episode, Cody still feels a bit by the book as he was first described. But I also think he said the good soldiers follow orders when Crosshair said clones to leave are also traitors like the Jedi, which is why Cody then reassures Crosshair that he "agrees". But by the end of the episode - despite fighting a war against them, he realises the fears of these separatist hold outs and that the empire is not the republic he fought for. His final words with Crosshair remind me of Rex's stance clearly inspired a lot by Fives) on Umbara. Also how he keeps staring at the wall of names at the start and finish, the casualties and losses Fives and Rex were concerned about are clearly affecting Cody now. The "what makes us different" point is very Rex in spirit and him giving Crosshair a hint as to why he finally leaves the empire.
The way we can literally see Cody's belief and desire to follow Imperial orders falter and crumble throughout this entire episode is just, so beautiful. The way his face just shows his disgust in the Stormtrooper and the blatant hypocrisy of the Empire, and you can literally see the moment he decides to desert.
I've seen some movie's and we can see some realism in this to the way Cody says that we make our own decisions, our own choices and we have to live them to. the last one's the hardest thing ever.
The probe droid from Utapau thinks an underwater creature ate the body Cody: did you find Kenobi? Barlex: Sir, no one could survive that fall. Cody: Start loading your men on the ship.
i love/hate the symbolism of cody's armour change. the 212th was painted a golden colour to look like a sun, especially with the three bursting patterns on cody's chest plate. when obi-wan "died", cody's sun did too.
I think Cody's, and also Mayday's, main purpose was meant to be showing Crosshair how little the Empire cares about Clones, and how Clones have been manipulated by Order 66. I believe they are meant to sow seeds of doubt in Crosshair about his loyalty to the Empire.
Nice to see that Cody's change. He realised following orders blindly isn't right and implicitly acknowledged clones have done something wrong in and after order 66. The most impressive moment in the bad batch was that he started to question the fairness of empire. He really thought about what clones have done. Maybe this is also the reason why he is a commander.
Im just glad he didn't suffer thr fate he did in Legends, forced to be an instructor for Stormtroopers and assigned to guard Vader's vault on Kamino where he was likely killed when Starkiller escaped.
I really broke down when cody called him: crosshair. turns around, 😶 looked at each other for 2 seconds and then his helmet came off hahaah that moment.
What I noticed and really liked are Cody's and Crosshairs standing positions in the first and last scene. While talking, Codys body is often turned towards the memorial wall, especially his face is illuminated. Crosshair doesn't look at the wall once and turns his back at it. Even if both Cody and Crosshair are working for the same institution, they have completely different impulsions. Cody is mourning his past life and the loss of his brothers, now he tries to make their deaths and their efforts mean something and keeps believing that what he does for the Empire is the same as he did for the Republic: Fighting for peace in the universe. Crosshair seams to have zero emotional connection to his job or any values that he believes in. The back turning at the memorial shows both the indifference towards the deaths of the other clones and a lack of loyalty, empathy and a sense of unity. Crosshairs attitude is matching perfectly with the values and the character of the Empire as they don't care about clones or any other being in general. Cody on the other hand seems to be completely out of place.
“ we make our own decisions. Our own choices. And we have to live with them to.” You can tell just by that he released that trying to kill obi won was a mistake
0:46 I like to personally think that this was Cody testing to see how Crosshair would react to desertion. I think he already had personally thought of deserting but didn't have that decisive moment yet and was just testing the water to see how his men would react. I personally think that this is something he learned from Obi Wan, to be smart and talk to people to gauge their feeling and learn what they think and formulate a plan, a negotiator if you will. Like you can see at 0:56, when Crosshair said that they are traitors like the Jedi, he pauses, looks at Crosshair and stops the conversation dead in its track.
That would cause uprisings and The Clones Destroying it would hesitate or refuse and incite an Uprising refusing to destroy the memorial that honored the brothers who were killed in the first Battle of Geonosis
Cody doesn't even know about the inhibitor chip. He probably lives thinking he killed his general and best friend without hesitation and now hates himself for it more and more as the effect of the chip fades.
I think Cody deserves a Reunion with Obi Wan saying sorry And dying a heroic death to save him ezplaining why hes not in Rebels. Oh and Reunion with Rex of course but maybe a fight between them would break out 😮. All I know is that Cody has amazing potential as a character
Nah thats way too cheesy it already happened with Rex, Gregor and Wolff, some major clone commanders actually need to live with those consequenses of their order to show how deeply the inhibitor chips and the betrayal ruined the relationship between Clones and their personal Jedi generals
It hurts to see Cody realizing what he did to Kenobi was wrong it’s even sadder when it thinks he had a choice. We make our own decisions our own choices and…. We have to live with them too… 😢
Cody just like the rest of the clone army didn’t have much of a choice when they destroyed the Jedi, unless their chip implants malfunctioned He probably couldn’t control himself when he ordered the clone troops under his command to fire at Kenobi
When crosshair talked to Cody about the clones question about the order when crosshair said then there traders like the jedi it shows feared about what will and is happening to his brothers and the Republica and regrets killing jedis and witness a unarmed separatist governor gunned down front of him after promising her safety of her and her people and now questioning on what they are doing wondering if they are doing the right thing by making the galaxy a safer place and telling crosshair we have our own choices and we have to live with it I believe when the admiral told crosshair that commander cody went awhole I think cody finally realized what they were doing and how bad the galaxy they were fighting for 9+ year *since star wars the clone wars movie 2008* even though in the show it was like 4+ years him and rex lost so much of there brothers after battle and after battle and allegedly killing obi wan and have to live with it I think cody said enough was enough and he probably either help his brother in the galactic Civil War or he went to be a farmer or mechanic or something something that doesn't involved with the empire
Ik that this has nothing to do with Cody but I want to give my thoughts on why a lot of the new tk stormtroopers hate the imperial clone troopers . More then likely palpatine knew that the clones could overthrow him so he started the tk stormtrooper program and made it look like it was tarkin’s idea , then he used propaganda to recruit normal people and he also more then likely usesd offensive language when discussing the clones so that people would hate them . This is where Nolan comes into the picture . Nolan to me represents a person who is from a rich family and has never actually done any sort of fighting . But palpatine is right the clones are superior then the normal human’s because they are the children of jango fett and they are the brother of bobba fett , two of the most strongest bounty hunters in the Star Wars timeline . But another reason that palpatine has a majority of the clones replaced is because they didn’t have enough of jango fetts dna 🧬 to keep making more and bobba wouldn’t give them his dna so yeah , but even crosshairs squad hate him for no reason simply because he’s a clone . Crosshair does eventually kills his squad except for one that mange to escape and he also kills Nolan . I’m not saying all the regular humans hate the clones because in some of the Star Wars books , their are a quite a few that respects the clones and honor them for the sacrifices during the clone wars .
Man, woulda been cool if they made Cody stone-cold. No shot he tried to talk that guy out of shooting his captive. Cody at that point wouldn't have cared, would have just shot through the hostage and killed the guy to get it done with.
Exactly the opposite Obi-Wan taught him that how to negotiate He remembers it He's a good soldier, he followed orders, but he's not a killer. The job of the soldier is never to kill. (it never should be) It's to capture a point, gather intel, rescue hostage But usually "bad guys" say "no, this is out ground/you won't get the hostages" and it comes to violence

Nah thats way too cheesy it already happened with Rex, Gregor and Wolff, some major clone commanders actually need to live with those consequenses of their order to show how deeply the inhibitor chips and the betrayal ruined the relationship between Clones and their personal Jedi generals
Like jaro tapas said they clones have betrayed them
Cody still refers to his men by name he really misses The Jedi
It hurts to see Cody realizing what he did to Kenobi was wrong it’s even sadder when it thinks he had a choice.
We make our own decisions our own choices and…. We have to live with them too… 😢
In Legends Cody died on kamino.
he should’ve in canon too
I am so glad he didn't this time because that means there is at least a chance of reconciliation between him and Obi-wan or Rex.
@@Rosethornwitch20 would’ve been better to have Cody vs Rex
@@Rosethornwitch20 fuck no, such a disney ass ending
Cody doesnt look right without orange and yellow.
I want him and Rex back together again. Even if its only for a minute or two
a city guard with a battalion of droid, and they only a shuttle worth, damn the empire really want those clones die trying.
Commander Cody was my favorite clone.
lol 3:30 the clones are not moving in the corner
please, dave-jon--whoever is making star wars better give us the fate or whatever of cody i can`t wait any longer
Cody pulled a negotiator tactic
We won't hear from him until the new show.
Cody knew he was in the wrong and regrets betraying his general.
Cody just like the rest of the clone army didn’t have much of a choice when they destroyed the Jedi, unless their chip implants malfunctioned
He probably couldn’t control himself when he ordered the clone troops under his command to fire at Kenobi
I think Cody bad feeling about hi mistake to obi wan Cody feel sad about it
When crosshair talked to Cody about the clones question about the order when crosshair said then there traders like the jedi it shows feared about what will and is happening to his brothers and the Republica and regrets killing jedis and witness a unarmed separatist governor gunned down front of him after promising her safety of her and her people and now questioning on what they are doing wondering if they are doing the right thing by making the galaxy a safer place and telling crosshair we have our own choices and we have to live with it I believe when the admiral told crosshair that commander cody went awhole I think cody finally realized what they were doing and how bad the galaxy they were fighting for 9+ year *since star wars the clone wars movie 2008* even though in the show it was like 4+ years him and rex lost so much of there brothers after battle and after battle and allegedly killing obi wan and have to live with it I think cody said enough was enough and he probably either help his brother in the galactic Civil War or he went to be a farmer or mechanic or something something that doesn't involved with the empire
So that means Cody missed on purpose so obi wan can survive
Huh?
I ilke Cody a lot I hope him in season 3 the final season
0:57 heeeell naw bro He knows
I hope cody will stay alive at the end of bad batch season 3, because we need new animated series for cody.
Wonder what happened to him
Where did you find this and is it out tho? Bc I can’t find ut
EPISODE PLEASE 🥺🥺
S2 ep 3
3:49
Man, woulda been cool if they made Cody stone-cold. No shot he tried to talk that guy out of shooting his captive. Cody at that point wouldn't have cared, would have just shot through the hostage and killed the guy to get it done with.
Exactly the opposite
Obi-Wan taught him that how to negotiate
He remembers it
He's a good soldier, he followed orders, but he's not a killer.
The job of the soldier is never to kill. (it never should be)
It's to capture a point, gather intel, rescue hostage
But usually "bad guys" say "no, this is out ground/you won't get the hostages" and it comes to violence
That wall, during the first and last scenes, has anyone translated any of that?
It's gibberish
Dennis Mao 🌟 COMMANDER CODY
Did Cody ended up defecting from the empire after realizing what he'd done?
hello
I wonder if this is where Lucas derived his inspiration for Commander Cody. At any time, I expect this Cody to break out in song.
