I’ve been waiting for you guys to talk about eraserhead for so long. If I ever become rich I’ll subscribe to the Patreon so I can get you guys to do a huge deep dive
I’ve been constantly been surrounded by Halloween content in fricking July so now that you guys are putting out a horror movie ratings on Letterboxd, I’m tempted to put movies on my watchlist so that I’m prepared for spooky season. 🎃 Minor note: please watch the Beauty and the Beast one, it’s really good ❤
The silent film classic Cabinet of Dr.Caligari was remade in 2000.I do not remember who directed it,but the character actor Doug Jones(The Shape of Water)played Ceasar, the sleepwalker, originally portrayed by Conrad Veight.
Okay....Seconds. John Frankenheimer. He directed the original Manchurian Candidate as well as Ronin. Seconds stars a very good Rock Hudson, and your description of the story was pretty accurate. However, while it does have a face/off-like concept, it's not an action film. It is a drama, for the most part - what it really is, is depressing as anything you will ever see. The guy hates his life, the tries a new life, and he can't quite fit in with the younger crowd, and he is filled with regret, and it's just so melancholic - and the last shot is like a punch to the gut. In other words, beware.
Did you see The Innocents? Another one I don't think you did, but you just read the description. It's such a good movie. Intelligent screenplay by Truman Capote, which keeps you guessing as to whether or not the ghosts are real, or merely figments of the Governess's imagination. Absolutely stunning cinematography by renowned British cinematographer Freddie Francis. Deborah Kerr is amazing as the governess.
In Dead Ringers, they're gynecologists, which automatically dials up the body horror in this creepfest. There's one scene in particular in which you're guaranteed to squirm through.
Loved the vid! My only question is why did the covers and photos of scenes in the movies stop after Nosferatu? Way more difficult to understand the review and get a vibe of the movie and if I want to watch it. Great vid otherwise!
I loved this video for the first 30min. When each movie had at least a few screenshoots to give some context. But then it completley stopped. That killed it for me.. what happend??
Do people understand this isn't a list you guys made up, but a list from LETTERBOXD, as you have stated in your title? And how that list is created? Not by one person's personal opinion....
Okay, but now I have to argue my own comment. I just looked at the list on the Letterboxd site and The Substance, which came out yesterday, is Number 28. So, now I am questioning HOW these are calculated.
Good evening, Raiders I can jokingly suggest to you that because you didn’t “Remember the Alamo,” I will unsubscribe, but the truth is I’m totally addicted to you guys! I recently watched your presentation of the top 100 horror movies as rated by Letterboxd. I am obviously from a very different generation than those who are voting. I just watched “The Wailing,” as the description intrigued me. While I find it rather interesting from a cultural perspective, I simply don’t understand how this movie made the top 100 scariest horror films list, while such iconic nightmare inducing classics as “It,” “Poltergeist,” “Ringu/The Ring,” “The Grudge,” “The Birds,” and neither version of “War of the Worlds,” did not merit inclusion. No “Amityville Horror?” No “The Mist?” No “ReAnimator?” Don’t worry, I ain’t about to shoot the messengers. Any group that thinks “The Exorcist,” is not the scariest movie of all time obviously has no idea what they’re talking about, IMHO! LOL
Horror Film Poem The Skin I Live In folds into Misery while outside The Witch gets charged with Possession. Eyes Without a Face seen in The Lighthouse towers above The Incredible Shrinking Man forever lost in an Inland Empire.
Yeah, you missed it, buddy. Check out the time stamps in the episode’s “Description “. It was 1hr 19mins. I’ve still only watched it once - I bought it on DVD the day after I watched it, and have never had the nerve to watch it again. The “car scene” and its aftermath still haunts me!!
Martin thanks for the comments! I stated the ones I haven’t seen, I may have jumbled some descriptions, but listing off 100 films is difficult without making a few mental slips. I’ve seen the Innocents and The Tenant, thanks for watching 👍
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ Seriously? I was certain anyone who describes The Tenant as "cool, freaky and suspenseful" is just making things up. It took me years to get through it. LOL.
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ The Innocents is one of my favorite movies, and it seemed you guys just mentioned it in passing, so, again, I thought you must not have seen it. My bad - but I couldn't understand how you didn't go on for thirty minutes talking about how great a movie it is.... Because it's that good. But you know that. Thanks, guys!
Maybe an Unpopular opinion but i think that we give older films too much credit. As much as i understand how good and important they were for their time, they are largely hard to watch now that we've advanced so far in terms of film making. I'd argue that most people would rather watch a crappy modern movie over some of the "classics" from the 20s to 60s
@@zacharywoodford8530 I think it’s actually more interesting to watch older films because of how much harder it was for them to create the art of filmmaking, so it’s more impressive, on top of that, story and writing were also superior
What an insipid comment... Most people would rather watch a crappy movie..... LOL. A lot of the older movies might not be as scary as the films of today, but you watch them in order to really appreciate today's horror films. There are some older films that can still give me a chill or creep me out - some are beautiful while being scary at the same time.
I personally think Psycho is highly overrated. It's great and revolutionary but it's not really that interesting of a movie to rewatch once you've seen it and the ending where they explain everything is just forced exposition. I wouldn't even put it in my top 10 Alfred Hitchcock.
