    Tabletopbattle.com is proud to present the first video in the "Battle of North Africa" series of battlereports.
    We will start in Autumn 1940. After Italy declared war on the Allies in June 1940 they have had mostly setbacks...
    But now the tide is about to turn, or is it?
    September of 1940. The Italian army is on the move after initially losing fort Capuzzo to the British. They have now recaptured the fort and are advancing on Sidi Barrani.
    A British reinforced platoon has spotted the advancing Italians and rush to meet them, head on!

    I am in total compliance with many similar comments made, in that your battle reports are amongst the best, if not The Best posted to RUclips. They are informative, entertaining, very amusing and extremely addictive! I now spend more time watching postings like yours than TV, far more fulfilling 😉. Keep up the great work and the excellent 'funny bits'! I know there are still many more for me to catch up on, but I hope you take great pride in what you are achieving, combining having fun with sharing with the wider community, thank you. Just as +SmittyM14 commented, I'm getting me a T'shirt made 'FUBAR Voodoo Magic'

    Nice batrep, gentlemen. I'm fairly new to BA, and it provides some nice background listening (and rules familiarization) as I assemble and paint my first Heer infantry squad. Thanks again!

    Love the games guys. Just noticed you gave the -1 penetration penalty to HE shots, HE doesn't suffer that -1. Page 53 of the rule book.
    Keep up the great games.

    Love your battle reports. It's helping learn the rules by watching you guys play plus they're entertaining. I really think Anders (if I spelled your name wrong I apologize) should make a t-shirt that says "FUBAR Voodoo Magic" with a picture of two six sided dice showing 6's. LOL!

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  9 лет назад

      You spelled it 100% correct :)
      Now T-shirts, that is a great idea :)
      Thanks for commenting, glad you can learn from them, that is one of the reasons we do this.

      I am really looking forward!
      You probably won't believe it, but I really binge-watch your batreps every evening, although I do not play BA at all, as I mentioned earlier (maybe sometime in the future, when I have more time at hand). It's really entertaining and fascinating and my wife thinks I'm nuts ;-)

      Inexorablehorror well... most wife`s and girls (not saying all !!) would think we are nuts for playing with fiddly small toy soldiers and making/watching vids on the same subject :). Good that you keep on watching us , get into the action and buy some bolt action stuff, look for players in your area on the warlord games forums :)

    I completely agree about the solothurn. It was such an incredibly good anti tank rifle... Many historians argue that it was a better anti tank weapon than the early 37mm anti tank guns because of it's lower profile, lighter weight and higher muzzle velocity.
    I have been thinking about a house rule: if you roll a 6 to hit with a solothurn anti tank rifle you get an additional +1 penetration until the current fire action is resolved.

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  9 лет назад

      Since it had a magazine I was thinking 2 shots instead of just the one, when giving a fire order. I kinda like your idea too :)

    Nice battle, I see your luck with tanks has changed... sorta. Your flame tank did wonderful but the other one got kind of lazy there at the end just rolling 1s. Also you forgot to fire the MMGs on it a couple times. Can't blame you, you had just rolled a lot of six to blow up ol' 12 shots. And Anders your luck seems to have left you this game, hopefully you'll have a better run next one! Wonderful game guys, made my day to see you'd uploaded a new battle!

    About to start putting this together; ordered Bolt Action rules and army sets for Germans and British in North Africa. Seeing the non-realism of flamethrowers was good; a flamethrower shooting at the range of a rifle (almost) AND doing the damage of an AP round, YET not consuming the fuel in the tanks which could hold, MAYBE, 3 - 4 seconds worth....Nope. Flame-throwing units will NOT be used. Thankfully they were rare in NA. Thanks for the heads-up!

  • @SGusky
    @SGusky 9 лет назад

    That team check was in terms of taking 50% casualties

  • @SGusky
    @SGusky 9 лет назад +1

    Also
    Look at the rules again for small teams ( or teams in general) getting hit
    It is a permanent -1 to morale and you must take a leadership check
    Ps
    Great job on sixes Sven !!'n

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  9 лет назад

      Yupp, you are correct, as usual :)
      Somehow i have confused it with a unit losing its NCO, where you suffer a permanent morale penalty.
      For weapon teams that are reduced to 1 man it is both morale and to hit that is penalized.
      Thanks for spotting and keep commenting :)

    Hullo, Chaps.
    I know I'm lagging behind and still playing catch-up with these awesome videos, so forgive me if you've already thought of this, but I tend to watch your vids whilst painting, so I listen as much as I 'watch'. I figure I cannot be the only one doing so, either. To this end, I sometimes miss the excellent captions you flash up on the screen (with rules corrections, notes, claims of Voodoo Magi etc.) - might it be possible please to try including a tiny, subtle 'ping' noise or something when these crop up? Please?
    Of course, if this seems silly fiddly to do or just annoying to most watchers I'd totally understand...
    ...just a thought.
    Cheers,
    - Chris.

      That might not be a bad idea Chris, we`ll look into it, and if possible we can atleast try it for one battlereport and see how it turns out.

    The Fiat Ansanldo Carro Armato L3/35 (or L3/33 they were pretty much the same, just different guns) is probably my favorite Italian tank (well, the Italians considered it a tank, we would consider it a tankette), not because its good. It preformed very inadequately, I mean look at it, its a dinky little tankette with machineguns, but rather its my favorite because, well I suppose because its so silly, so unique in terms of the European / African theaters. It is really weird to think that that little tankette was the most numerous Italian fighting vehicle of the entirety of the second world war. It really puts into perspective why the Italian Regio Eserscito (royal army) preformed so poorly during the war (well except when under the command of Rommel and even then they only preformed decently) because compared to the other major nations the Italian army was equipped with inferior weaponry and especially inferior tanks. Sure you could argue that the M11/39 and the M13/40 were both decent tanks for their respective years, and you would be right, but there is still the matter that even if they were decent tanks for their respective years the vast majority of the Italian armor divisions were still made up of these L3/35s. One of Italy's biggest problems during the second world war was their failure to make technological innovations in a rapid technological advancing war.

      +anthony sauls Totally agree!
      So, still doing AAM?

    • @xXThePanzerXx
      @xXThePanzerXx 8 лет назад

      Tabletopbattle I haven't recorded an AAM video for years. there is no one around that plays it. ive played a few games last fall. But honestly with college I haven't had time to do any miniatures games, 40k included. although here in about a week im going to try to get into bolt action, purchase my first starter army. I'm going with a 1942 Duetsches Afrika Korps army.

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  8 лет назад

      Yepp, i have a GIANT collection of AAM, now collecting dust...or, sometimes a few of them get out to play when we do the odd FOW game...

    • @xXThePanzerXx
      @xXThePanzerXx 8 лет назад

      Tabletopbattle it really is a shame, its such a fun game. sure its not as intricate as 40k or bolt action, the models aren't as big or as beautiful, there isn't much customization, but its a perfect little game to just sit down for an hour and play. its easy to transport, easy to store. heck last fall, when I played it a bit, I brought it with me on my commute to campus and played it with a friend in between classes. Its just that no one is into it, no one plays it.

  • @Phreakschildi
    @Phreakschildi 9 лет назад +1

    Thats crazy Sven, I need to employ you for rolling 6s at my games :)
    By the way: Didn't you have to take a moral check on your anti tank rifle when you lost the first guy, since 50% of the squad got shot?

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  9 лет назад

      You are 100% correct, we totally forgot. Thanks for spotting that! Also, the permanent pin is both for shooting and morale..

    really enjoy your battlereports. why do you play on tables with hexes? from another game?

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  9 лет назад

      That is correct, this mat was originally bought for Axis and Allies miniatures.
      The hexes are actually very hard to see for us so we didnt really notice..

    Great report as normal guys
    One question with the semi official flame thrower rules is it that the vehicles only take one hit on the vehicle? not the two D6
    I thought the 2-D six or multiple hits were just for infantry

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  9 лет назад

      I cant say i have found anywhere it states that a flamethrower inflicts only one hit on armoured targets.
      If you read the description of how they explain the pen bonus of +3 against vehicles they say that "....flames seeping through vision slits and hatches..." and as such I think it is only fitting that flamethrowers get 2d6/1d6 hits :)

    • @Tabletopbattle
      @Tabletopbattle  9 лет назад

      I enjoy action as much as the next guy but when it comes to warmovies i want some historical accuracy, which Fury has very little of...
      300 infantry with multiple Panzerfausts should have taken out that Sherman within 10 minutes, or just bypassed it!

    • @Phreakschildi
      @Phreakschildi 9 лет назад

      Tabletopbattle Yes I guess you could always argue one way or the other. Besides the stupid tank assault I really loved the dirty look of the movie and all the small details in equipment. Looked all very "realistic".
