Another excellent vid. While I'd definitely be keen to see more code, I really like the way you're taking us step by step (pardon the pun) through how you're growing the different systems. It's so good to see something getting incremental improvements through an actual running program. It's a good reminder that you should always keep a running version of your program as you develop new features. Have you experimented with different friction for the feet and ball on the grass? It would be cool to see some sliding during rainy conditions, for example.

Honestly seeing the legs wobbling all over the place but kicking the ball successfully is super fun. Can you just double down on that and make a really fun silly football game instead of aiming for realism? Maybe even with animals or something crazy like that? :D That would set you apart from the other football games, and avoid the issue of player likenesses etc. If the gameplay is solid it will find an audience.
I am so glad i found this video. I am making an engine in OpenGL in pure C. This is motivation for me to keep going. Also i think im obsessed with ur game, i cannot wait to play it one day. You should definitely make it multiplayer as well.
My humble opinion, the football game comunity can handle a "regular" gameplay IF we get deep customization and carreer mode. I believe you Give the people editing tools and the game will grow naturally.

I personally would love to have something playable, I know it might not be close to the final state of the game, but the concept seems fun even with sticks as players, if it has sort of a multiplayer I can see myself having fun with this game playing with friends, and even donating for further development, anyway just my 2 cents
Awesome video, but I feel like the shooting looks really unnatural because the player doesn't swing through with their leg. Like they just stop at the ball and it feels looks like they don't have enough force to kick the ball so hard.
This is developing to be a quite convincing simulation, but something is still off with the foot placement. The character moves as if he is stomping each step with the back of his foot. You should consider changing the target contact position on the foot, source of the contact prediction, and the amount of look-ahead in the prediction based on how fast the character is moving and the rate of change of the direction. You should also try blending between a flat-footed contact and a toe-contact to simulate a runner on their toes ready to make quick adjustments. If you watch soccer players feet, they rarely have flat contact on the ground; they are either landing on their toes, or their steps gradually move from heel to toe; the exception being sudden changes in direction to counteract their current momentum. The roll on the feet that you added did help a bit, but I think going further with it using something like what I mentioned would go a long way towards making it more convincing.
I absolutely love your videos. they are great as they are but I think they'll benifit from "flashier" presentation. I doesn't have to turn to a mr.beast video, but the more audience you bring to your project, the better chance it will have to get properly funded.

Just some feedback that you can consider if you want, I think the ball is too heavy or something because in reality it shouldn't be that easy to keep that much control over the ball and you shouldd be able to kick the ball quite far away from you even if you're not shooting

@@fusarihan yeah, I love football but I hate fifa/pes. Small football games usually quickly die, due to bad gameplay loops so I hold crossed fingers on you. I encourage you to look at design part faster, because your core mechanics it's first gameplay loop. At least it should be. You will understand where you should focus and make this game fun. For example, your first gameplay loop it will be running, walking, kicking, sliding, jumping. Why it's gameplay loop? Because it is, you will press "W" and you will wait for feedback on screen, if it will work, ok, then you will practice this move again. But if it will not work, you will think why and think what to do now, for example by pressing up arrow key, and its loops. Sounds silly but imagine you will can't see feedback if you move or not, for example in text game, or how hight you jumps, it can make the players next decision even worst than before, driving them learning in wrong direction, and making them frustrated. Another silly fact, but people wants to learn, learning is fun. You have to make your game easy to learn and make people wants to learn it by proper gameplay loops. These first gameplay loops, should be used for second gameplay loops, such as Tackling - by sliding Score goal - by kicking ball Passing - by kicking ball Pressure- by running Dribbling... Etc. And imagine that after long pass, the ball parabola is barely visible. This can lead to wrong feedback loop and drive people learning in wrong direction. So maybe a small trail on the flying ball will be needed to improve feedback. Then third gameplay, and the same rule, use second gameplay loops for third Such as Scoring to win a match Passing to gain rpg exp Etc Then another gameplay loops like Win a match to ... For example win a league, cup, pass the level, pass the challenge, gain more rpg exp, gain reputation, gain rank. Then another... Win a league to promote to better league Gain rank for better contract in better clubs Etc etc until you will feel that you can say stop because it's looped enough. Usually it's good to stop it on our biological motivations, such as family, fame, love, safety ( such as beating the last boss and save the world) but you can use also things like fullfiling, achieving, exploring. GL!
