Just an idea, but you could reason that the robots cannot understand the music since music is a very human and emotional thing which causes them to overload and maybe blow up/ shut down when trying to process it. This could then lead really nicely into a story for the game where robots are taking over the world but music is the only thing left which humans have control over. Maybe it’s a dystopian future where the character discovers a lost guitar and all other instruments have been banned, hence why only the main character possesses this power. I don’t know, these ideas just randomly came to me so i decided to share them. Anyway, nice video, keep up the impressive quality :)

Nice devlog! It's nice to see people planning out their game and trying their best to make it good, not just rushing it. Your game looks very promising already. I saw you featured a clip of my video about rule tiles. I also made an editor tool called "Better Rule Tiles" that could possibly help you with setting up those tiles, and I'd like to give you a free copy of it to help you with the game.

Dude your BACK! This video was incredible to see how much you have grown and developed your skills it is amazing. I am so happy and excited to see you continue to create this game I can't wait to play it keep up the amazing work this was awesome! 🤯😆
The Idea is amazing! A better alternative to Unities tile rules would be a software called tiled. AdamCYounis has a great video explaning it. Also, a cool idea for another enemy type would be some zombie like creature that would basically be "released" by the sound of the music. It would be really easy to tie into the plot.
hello caleb! this video really makes me want to go back into game dev again but i still need to find time for it I do have some ideas you could implement in future. so there's obviously conflict between machine/digitally produced sounds and authentic instrumental sound. So what the protagonist wandering around the setting, most likely some dystopian land where instruements are scarce and the prot starts out with an instrument, and destroys the robots producing "fake music". Throughout the game prot finds other instruments(find new weapons)(remember they are scarce) and some old(not necessarily) musical maestros who can fix the instruments and tune it better(upgrade weapons). idk what im talking about anymore keep making the devlogs tho
You should look into Wave Function Collapse. It's an algorithm used for procedural generation. In your case it might be useful to set a number of rules for your tiles and let your program automatically generate coherent environments. Side note : You remind me of when I started programming 6 years ago :3 Keep at it, you'll go a long way !
I thought of an idea for a rogue-like where instruments were your weapons, but they were attached to certain abilities, and you’d get some sort of bonus for making a good rythm
Dude, I just watched your old videos then I played this one and when I heard your voice, thought I'm on a different channel lol! Keep going man and I hope your channel grows!
Sick progress, if partial processes like art / music / sound design / coding become overwhelming keep in my mind to potentially team up with someone :)
this video release one day before i turned 17 (most likely a couple of hours even) and i have a certain problem where i compare myself to everyone, but with that it also reminds me that i should probably learn to look more at my strengths too (copious amounts of madness and some VAing potential, altho my throat has had something in it for about a year now, not even puberty but yeah) also 1 game i made where i'm still proud of the basic movement of the character and some levels anyway, this is great progress and i hope to see more of your stuff later, and good luck anyway i'm the wizard and the guitar is mine, i don't care and anybody who battles over it will be hit with the power of jams
I love the way this video is layed out, I am a game dev student trying to learn how to make a game dev diary and this has inspired me to try it in video format. It looks amazing, both the pixel art and the features/(algorithms?) you made
Hey! Really like how things are looking so far! My one critique, if you'll humor me: While the main character is definitely a cute little guy, he is a bit generic. I have seen countless indie devs making their "dream game" who make that exact same archvale/final fantasy hooded figure with two dot eyes. It might be a good idea to try and see if there is something a bit more unique you can do with the character design to help your game stand out more. At the end of the day, it's your game, I'm just some guy on the internet, so take my critique how you will. And hey, you are actually MAKING a game, which is loads more than most people. Regardless, looking forward to where this goes!
know what's funny ??? i found this video while my search literally was "gam devlog that i used to watch couple of years ago and forgot the name of" (talking about archvale) and loe and behold i somehow actually found the name of the game with that search
hey man i’m one of the devs of You Are Now Possessed, very glad our game inspired you ! your game looks beautiful, good luck :)

You should look into Wave Function Collapse. It's an algorithm used for procedural generation. In your case it might be useful to set a number of rules for your tiles and let your program automatically generate coherent environments.
Side note :
You remind me of when I started programming 6 years ago :3
Keep at it, you'll go a long way !
I was thinking about using wave function collapse for that. It seems a bit outside my programming capability, but none the less, I'll give it a go!
I thought of an idea for a rogue-like where instruments were your weapons, but they were attached to certain abilities, and you’d get some sort of bonus for making a good rythm
2:03 Archvale mentioned. Now I’m hooked
Dude, I just watched your old videos then I played this one and when I heard your voice, thought I'm on a different channel lol! Keep going man and I hope your channel grows!
Great video and work :)
I'm happy for every gamedev who shares his passion to inspire!
I love it. the style reminds me of foreger
My man is BACK with a banger of the century
Couldn't of done it without my man!
looks fantastic mate! This is a video is a triumph and I wish you good luck!
Bro this is so cool, you will get so far and everybody pls support this fella he deserves it. Keep it up!
Sick progress, if partial processes like art / music / sound design / coding become overwhelming keep in my mind to potentially team up with someone :)
Cant wait to hear more!
You're doing great! Keep it up 💪
Wtf bro you evolved or what?
Amazing video I am exited to play this also exited to watch further development of the game . You are amazing.
Bro... I watched some of your first videos, then watched this. Puberty got to you man. I mean it fits you well but dAmN
Love the game idea, pixel art, and video quality - keep up the good work! :)
Thank you so much watt designs, you've been a huge inspiration to me, I love your videos so much!
this video release one day before i turned 17 (most likely a couple of hours even) and i have a certain problem where i compare myself to everyone, but with that it also reminds me that i should probably learn to look more at my strengths too (copious amounts of madness and some VAing potential, altho my throat has had something in it for about a year now, not even puberty but yeah)
also 1 game i made where i'm still proud of the basic movement of the character and some levels
anyway, this is great progress and i hope to see more of your stuff later, and good luck
anyway i'm the wizard and the guitar is mine, i don't care and anybody who battles over it will be hit with the power of jams
i have a feeling you're gonna be big! also really cool easter egg i caught the lowresbones music!!
wait i just realised.. holy crap you're jetpack!
yup I'm Jetpack, thank you so much, and yes, I love lowresbones' music!
Really nice game you're crafting there! Hope you can keep up and passionate about your dream project, it seems pretty promising 😄
Starting my own game dev journey as well! Excited to see us grow together! Good luck on the game my dude!
good luck brother , i feel you , i consider myself an artist as well
Hey awesome job bud, keep up the good work.
Dont feel stressed that you have to make a lot of devlogs to avoid burnout
Best of luck man
Hey dude, I'm rooting for you, I'm doing the same!!!! I'll be sure to make notes of journey!
This looks amazing! Cant wait to see the next devlog :]
I love the way this video is layed out, I am a game dev student trying to learn how to make a game dev diary and this has inspired me to try it in video format. It looks amazing, both the pixel art and the features/(algorithms?) you made
Hey! Really like how things are looking so far!
My one critique, if you'll humor me:
While the main character is definitely a cute little guy, he is a bit generic.
That's a totally fair point, I'll definitely take this into consideration, and I'll think on it, thanks so much!
unexpected to find lowresbones' music here, but glad to find another fan!
I am new and i am so glad i found you before you become the next youtube sensation
know what's funny ???
i found this video while my search literally was "gam devlog that i used to watch couple of years ago and forgot the name of"
(talking about archvale)
and loe and behold i somehow actually found the name of the game with that search
i knew the algorithm knows too much
Great video! Loving the game idea and can't wait to see how it comes along!
keep going ! i love your style, your universe
Garnet linked this video in his discord, great video!
Wow that's so kind of him!
