Most math you learn in high school is pretty applicable, people just don’t learn it well enough to be able to recognize the opportunity to use it, and then subsequently apply it correctly. I’m not excluding myself, but I’m lucky that my work (programming) often necessitates basic math, though it’s all dependent. But just in real life geometry, proportions, fractions all help with DIY projects and anything really. Algebra is can come in handy when dealing with money! People who hate math: remember that money is just a quantity! If you want to master money - and earning it - solid math skills will only help. Also, google “discrete math”. Looks pretty simple to do, there are few roads and they are mostly parallel and perpendicular. The squiggly side roads and the overpasses don't seem to go to any place that you can't reach from a main road. You can get from any part of the city to another by making only two turns at most. I don't know if you didn't look at it when you wrote this or if you're just really really shit at giving directions.

This is one of the best city designs I've ever seen. Perhaps at the dead ends of both coastal roads, a drawbridge to connect them could work as well?

Honestly, I think Colossal Order should make it possible for a city to have more than 1 million residents. Like, it's so unrealistic that a city with huge skyscrapers and extensive residential areas has the population of a small town.
