    The water “drying” the car being flooded was really cool!

    • @WaxMode

      I love to see it! Very effective way to manage the amount of water on the paint before drying. The Gilmour flood setting also makes this much easier to do without having to kink the hose and unscrew the nozzle and flow the water directly out of the hose itself.

      Humberto Roche Garcia depends on the clear... if it’s soft I’d go with a plusher one. If it’s hard I like a short pile towel. I hope that helps

    OK, you've sold me on the Gilmour nozzle. I have a pretty high end Gardena hose reel system, hose, and two types of nozzle's which I really like, but i'm getting one of those Gilmour nozzle's to put on it. Good gosh that is an awesome trick with that free running water shooting out the center of the nozzle! Looks like it leaves the panel almost dry. Of course, i'm sure that depends on what coating, wax, or sealant is one the panel also. I'm guessing some react better than others. But the way I keep my paint, it should work wonders on my cars. I've used a similar trick in the past, but I always had to unscrew the nozzle from the hose and then run the water across the panel. I love the fact you can just rotate the head and it converts to the center flowing stream. I'll be getting one of those later tonight.

    Awesome water test! I am seeing the same results on my daughters car. You are right it is the easiest coating I have applied also. I bought that Gilmour nozzle and can’t wait to use it.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Thanks FAB! Right now I haven't used a coating that matches the level of ease of use, end slickness, and initial hydrophobic performance that Graphene Matrix offers out of a single coating system that doesn't require a separate topcoat product. Really stoked to see just how well this holds up, and it looked absolutely fantastic on the Fusion you applied it to!
      I've got a little bit of a collection building up of those Gilmour nozzles for the different versions they sell, that rear trigger one that you picked up has lasted surprisingly long for me with heavy usage. Wish they made them just a bit more comfortable though, the previous gen Gilmour nozzles had that fantastic thicker rubber grip that was so comfortable, I want those with the watering face of these newer ones with the center flood.

      Thanks Idtriton, always good to see you in the comments! It's definitely early, but first impressions are great for this coating. Worked really well for me today on even hotter temperature paint, I'm not having any issues with wipeability. So that combination of ease of use, slickness, and amazing initial hydrophobic performance is definitely at the top of the list for the coatings I've used so far. Loving the content dude, keep it up. Have you ever thought about doing more standardised testing? I know your thoughts on gloss meters but have you tried measuring contact angle or sheeting angles?
    You’re the only guy on youtube doing long term real world testing of detailing products, love your work!

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      Thanks David, it would definitely be fun to get into more standardized testing at some point! Still want to get my hands on one of Rhopoint's IQ model glossmeters to better measure paint clarity with different abrasives. I haven't spent much time at all seeing if I could accurately capture contact angle measurements and sliding angles, definitely would be interesting to see if I could do so. Would absolutely love to dive into UV resistance measuring at some point as well.
      Make sure you check out Mike G's channel as well, he does a lot of long term durability tests with different coatings on the market for how they hold up on his test cars: ruclips.net/channel/UCmHXtYCsChkg04tvdwCzHvw

    • @davek2977
      @davek2977 4 года назад

      @@WaxMode Thanks for the reccomendation Wax, I'll definitely check out what Mike G is doing. Reading about the Rhopoint, the fact that it can measure orangepeel and haze from poor coating curing is insane, I'd love to see that haha. I feel like you could pretty easily test UV, just leave a test panel outside in a greenhouse for a few months. Contact angle is just taking a macro photo from a side view and drawing digital lines on the image to find the angle. Sliding angle would be a bit more involved but still easy, would just need to setup a small tilt table of some kind. 3 min video if you're curious: ruclips.net/video/RyH_fCSNKtg/видео.html
      All of these tests are unpractical with full size car panels, but if you could get multiple uniform flat 4"x4" painted and clear coated squares, it would be easier. Your gloss measurements would be consistent, and you could put your test panels indoors under a window or small (cheap) lights for UV.
      I know it is a lot for just one guy to do/afford, but if you have already been thinking about it, it would be very cool to see quantitative measurements in an industry that is full of hyped up and subjective reviews. It's why I love your reviews, you compare lots of coatings at once, and do long term real world testing which helps to make an informed decision. If you would like advice, my background is in automotive component reliability lab-testing (condensing years of real world testing into a few months of intensive tests), I'd be happy to chat about it if you'd like to. Keep up the good work.

      For a single product system, this is looking good at the very start, but it's definitely early and I'll need the results of the durability test to confirm just how good this coating can last. CQUK 3.0 is very good, fantastic price and crazy durable, also a single product system that doesn't need the topcoat for hydrophobic durability, but lacking in the slickness and ease of use that most first time coating users would want to have.
      That balance of ease of use and slickness and incredible fresh hydrophobic performance is what this Graphene Matrix Coating offers from the start, so if it can hold up on the daily driver, then that would be awesome.

      I'll let you know once I get more time with it, but with the very fresh performance this looks amazing and I wouldn't want to top it yet like I would if I was working with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light or Gyeon Mohs. Ethos has this rated as a 5+ year coating, and most coatings out there will eventually lose hydrophobic performance over the months or years but I'll be looking to see how quickly this happens on the Honda.

      WaxMode I will , I’m currently in my first week of testing and after it’s first wash I noticed a change in water repellency. Application was ome coat , it was hella hot outside ( I work outside for the most part ) and it was no more than the 2 by 2 sections applied and as soon as you laid it down 2 seconds later you wiped it off. After the first wash it’s not the big giant sperm looking beads but better than ceramic beads none the less. Also several rains and not one water spot . I also topped it with a light detailer ( I know I shouldn’t have ) to see how it would behave and the big beads are back. When I know more I’ll holla at you bro.

      On this panel I let the left half dry for 1 minute after applying, and then the right half between 2-3 minutes which is their recommended dry time before buffing/leveling. Felt just slightly more tacky to level out at 2-3 minutes compared to 1 minute, but during the cure everything felt the same slickness and I didn't notice a water behavior difference on the panel during the rinse.

    Is that Gilmour spray proof, because the trigger is on the inside, when you drop it on the drive?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Yes the one I'm using in this video is definitely spray proof on a drop, but it's not the most comfortable sprayer to use regularly. I wish we could get this sprayer head with the center flood on their previous Gilmour nozzles that were loaded up with rubber on the grip and were way more comfortable. The sprayer in this video has a slight flow adjustment on the top, so when you're flooding or sheeting the water off the paint you can reduce the flow on the spot to prevent a little less nozzle overspray.

    I saw a first wash after application of this coating on FAB detailing. I didn’t say anything, but the hydroponics looked to have dropped off somewhat on the hood. Just saying. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      I'll definitely keep you guys posted on how it holds up on the Honda. PapaSmurf918 did a first wash on it in his channel and it looks like it held up really well.

      WaxMode real world test?

    I’d love to see this put up against Adam’s Graphene coating !

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      I would love to test the Adam's Graphene coating in the future, both the paint and the spray coatings. I got great base layer durability out of the original first formula Adam's Ceramic Spray Coating, it crushed IGL Premier in the pure durability test. So I'm looking forward to seeing results from others for those products and hopefully I can get some more disposable cash to try them out myself later on.

    Better than fusso?!?!?!?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +3

      Fusso is definitely close in hydrophobics, I'd have to put them up side by side to double check. Fusso Coat, Polymer Net Shield, CSL + EXO, Mohs + Skin, CQUK, Gliss V2, CC36, CanCoat, Graphene Matrix, all of these are pretty close to one another and are probably a few degrees difference in contact angles. Wolfgang Uber Spray Coating is up there too.
      Graphene Matrix combines a really good ease of use with awesome hydrophobic performance out of just the coating itself, so CSL and Mohs are pretty ease to work with while having good slickness, but you need the EXO and Skin topcoats to build up a good hydrophobic performance with those coatings, so that's where Graphene Matrix holds an advantage right now with the coatings that I've worked with.

      I've been on the Fusso Coat + BSD as a topper camp for over 2 years. I think it's really hard to beat this combo in both value, ease of use and longevity. Plus, if you need to correct a panel before the next polishing session that can be achieved very quickly. No drama, no need for a garage, nothing. Also, providing that you stay on top of your maintenance wash and use an iron remover every 6 months, you won't need to clay the bodywork either when you decide to polish the car.

    Would I have to strip off my existing ceramic coating and then add the graphene coating ?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      I'd be curious to see just how well the Graphene Matrix could stack over an existing ceramic coating. But the issue is you've got 30ml to work with for $99 which would only get you 2 coats max, so the best bet is to take the time to polish out the existing ceramic and apply the Ethos coating to the bare clearcoat to ensure the best surface for the coating to adhere to.

    Maybe I should rephrase that comment. Users are either hating or loving the Adams Graphene Coating.

  • @JTBlair-nw6gb

    Not a big Ethos fan. They're more of a marketing company than a detail product company. They're basically Adam's products put out by B&B blending. I would think Adam's would have the better version.

      Even though enthusiasts drool over new coatings it’s actually the people that don’t care to maintain their car that probably benefit the most from them (low maintenance paint protection that last years). I guess that’s why we get obsessed about what to top our coatings with 😅
