From Australia here This is the Holden Commodore, it’s as Aussie to us as Vegemite. They go very hard in V8 form, you can also get an SV6 which is a 3.6L with 210kW (280hp) and 350Nm. The latest generation of these have 304kW (407hp) in base form and the HSV models now go up to 435kW (580hp)
They shouldve marketed the handling, suspensiom, and chassis of the car more than its engine. When journalists noted that its basically the spiritual sucessor to the E39 M5 just with crappy interior, at least you gotta tell people why its really special.
Funnily enough, the Camaro 5th-gen ( the 2010 revival) is based on the Aussie Zeta platform. It actually gets its underpinnings from there, not the other way around.
I was never a big Holden fan. I've owned 3 SS commodores. But it's nice to see one of our cars (if you forget that it started out as an Opel) being appreciated in a country that has a huge car manufacturing status.

This sums up how we feel in Australia. This model was replaced in 2018 by Insignia and by 2019 GM exited the country! Only 49 years here selling Holden
tbh the ZB commodore wasn't a bad car, it just wasn't the same.
To my knowledge this was never sold in Canada, and that is one of the most upsetting things in my life. I want one 🥺
In Australia these were known as Holdens. This one in particular was the VF SS model. They were some of the most popular vehicles in the country for many years before manufacturing ceased. I had a 6.0L LS2 VE SS Ute. Absolutely wicked to send it in. Miss that beast.
The workshop I work in still have holden SSs come in all the time and they’re such a blast to work on from even the older ones to the newer ones I love the VE and VFs that you can just open the bonnet and everything is there infront of you very simple straight forward cars to work on.
We even have an old 1975 HZ Sandman in the shop with the classic Orange colour with the pinstripes down the side and Sandman written on the back. Holden had the car industry right at their finger tips then GM took it all away

If only the Union proposed a reasonable deal, Holden would still be around
Bro, that does NOT look boring or dull! These SS are great sleeper cars!💪
Boring from the perspective that only gearheads know what these are and/or admire them or look at them when they roll by. Driving in one of these you are invisible to 99.9% of people. Other people's brains immediately overlook the car as some sort of impala or something
@@renegadezen7841 Agreed 🤝

I think they knew Holden was in trouble so their last resort was to import this. Thank you Holden!
I had a 2005 gto, and aside from the known problems, I will say the build quality was great. No squeaks or rattles that most American sports cars have of that era.
We had one of these at our dealership... a lady came in for an oil change on her Equinox and was checking out the new cars. She came over and asked me about this, she was like "what is this a new malibu?" I told her it was a RWD Australian made car called an SS with a 6.2 LS3 in it... lol... she came back the next day with her husband and bought it. That lady liked what she saw and she GOT IT!

I love my black 2017 SS that I have had for just over a year. I rebadged to the Holden lions, same intake in the video, all black trim, and a tune that pushes the power to 445/445. The magnetic suspension is excellent. I will definitely keep this car until my kids are out of the house.

From Australia here
This is the Holden Commodore, it’s as Aussie to us as Vegemite. They go very hard in V8 form, you can also get an SV6 which is a 3.6L with 210kW (280hp) and 350Nm.
The latest generation of these have 304kW (407hp) in base form and the HSV models now go up to 435kW (580hp)

Yes sir the Holden VXR8 is legendary USA version of our Pontiac G8 but the Holden goes up a few notches!👍
They might be as Aussie as vegemite to you, but I can guarantee you that engine is as American as apple pie 🥧
They shouldve marketed the handling, suspensiom, and chassis of the car more than its engine. When journalists noted that its basically the spiritual sucessor to the E39 M5 just with crappy interior, at least you gotta tell people why its really special.

I was not expecting that, that hood up and my mouth dropped
It was great as a Pontiac G8. Pontiac should’ve advertised it more.
Pointless. The automotive unions in the US limited imports from Australia to something like 20,000 cars per annum. They were all sold before they landed so advertising any more was pointless.
