Everything about this game was perfect: the graphics, sound effects, music, backgrounds, characters, special moves, boss characters, and all fighters incredibly balanced.
23 years have passed since I played this game. What beautiful memories of my childhood. It is incredible how after so many years without knowing anything about this game I remember all the scenes, songs and phrases of the enemies.
This video game is a piece of art. I’m starting to notice the animations and details put into this game that were crafted by extremely skilled hands/programmers that I missed as a kid.
The game that really got the genre rolling and made it what it is today. One of the most important games of all time. Seeing this takes me straight back to 1991 and playing this in dark arcades, laundry mats, grocery stores and anywhere else I could find it...
The physics of this game are great, and the impact/contact sound of the punches and kicks, particularly the strong ones are very satisfying and it all makes for a very addictive playing experience.

Man I spent so much of my youth (and my parents money) playing this in arcades. Great nostalgia watching this. Nice finish, double perfects against Sagat & Bison, top effort. Guile was the only one close to beating you in a round! Speaking of Guile, anyone remember the invisible throws he could do, and the freeze stance?
stormrider777, SFII was edited over 4 times, with lame endings for most of the characters, the game is as short as SF1 and it had a crappy live-action movie, a crappy cartoon series and a crappy Malibu comic book series.
I still remember the day this game was first introduced in our local arcade. It was the early 90s and there was no game like it. All the kids wanted to play it, and there was a queue of challengers ready. You made the walkthrough seem like childplay, but it was difficult mastering those special moves. I remember all the coins I lost to this game, trying to finish it. Anybody not from my era watching this video has no idea just how difficult this game was.
I remember quarters lined up against the screen frame waiting for my turn. Playing this through the game console was a whole new world at the time, but nothing beats the thrill and agony of defeat you felt when you wait in line and actually spend that quarter to play this game.
Ooooh my beautiful childhood. Thank you man. You just brought back beautiful memories. Sad i ddnt see Ryu do the roundhouse kick tho, my favorite move.
SNES sonho de consumo na época com esse jogo, era praticamente o dia todo de um fim de semana jogando esse clássico inesquecível. Quem viveu essa época fodastica aí viveu.
I still remember buying this for SNES when I was 6 not knowing what to expect...This made me fall in love with fighting games, though it took me until my teenage years to land Shoryukens (Took me even longer to master it lol)
Brings back so many memories of playing this at Pizza Hut. Practically spent all of my allowance whenever I went there. Good times, I miss those days..
+adjumaro The reason why Ryu spams so much in Street Fighter II is because Capcom wanted to makeup to it's fans for all the failed Hadokens that people tried so hard to throw in Street Fighter and Fighting Streets lol
When these games came out here In South Africa...maaaannny years ago....there were no manuals or googling for combo moves etc...had to figure it out ourselves...awesome days indeed
This brings back a lot of childhood memories of playing the SNES version. The fury of getting hit by Sagat tiger uppercuts. He was the worst, spamming tiger this and that all over he place. But getting past Sagat meant there was always a decent chance with Bison. That Dhalsim diagonal air attack another nightmare. The car. E Honda’s Japanese epileptic imperial flag light show. Losing to a freak sonic boom. Vega’s speed/climbing fences on the wall, and been delighted when hitting the mask off. SNES version didn’t have a wooden barrel section as far as I remember. I can’t remember if it was two cars or one car and something else after. This game was part of a golden era of fighting gaming for me. Multiple classics followed shortly after the SNES on PlayStation. The next fighter I played after this was Mortal Kombat 3 followed by Tekken 4 I think. Street fighter lost its way after this classic I think, the graphics were never quite right 3D/on anything PS onwards and they could never top this.
I'm only sixteen and I remember playing this as a kid. My dad had a lot of versions of street fighter, but this was the first one we played. I don't even remember what console we used, it was so old. Wasn't xbox or PlayStation i think.
