This is very interesting for me. Coming from a latin country (Brazil), big thighs are considered sexy (whether they are big from muscles or fat, they are indeed sexy), they are part of the beauty standard. When I was a tween and watched foreign shows, i never understood why girls wanted slim thighs.
I am just saying this to say that, to say that countries beauty standards vary so much that i assume that many things can be beautiful, not only the standard your being imposed to where you come from.
(Ex: In my country tanned skin is more desirable than pale skin, while in many asian countries it's the opposite).

Thank you! I struggled with fat thighs all throughout ages 12 to 17. I cried every night and had low confidence, bc everyone in my family told me that it was purely genetic and no matter what I did I would stay this way. Then, I said fuck it and starved myself in my final year of highschool, going from BMI 26 to 19 in the span of under three months and none of them could believe how my proportions changed from extreme pear shape to hourglass with a thigh gap…needless to say, one year later I binged myself back up to BMI 23 and looked more like a pear again. I worked on my mental health first, maintained and normalized my broken metabolism again and now I‘m slowly losing weight in a more sensible manner, currrently hovering in the 20 to 21 BMI range and not far away from the weight I felt good and comfortable at :). In the end, there is a skeleton underneath everyone‘s muscle and fat layers. Yes, I might have the genetic tendency to gain weight in my lower body, but at some point, I can lose it bc fat and muscle amounts can indeed be changed with appropriate diet, exercise and habits. You aren‘t doomed xx

This is only my personal opinion but I find it uncomfortable that this channel is both conveying very important and precious messages on body neutrality, and at the same to find videos like this on "how to conform better to beauty standards". I don't mean to offend anyone but I would've hoped that the community here (and Zoe herself) wouldn't contribute to maintaining alive this "myth" that we have to change something about our bodies in order to gain value. Why this need to have slim legs if not to "look better" and conform better to social standards of attractiveness ?
I just mean that we have a lot to be concerned about if even inspiring people proning to change our regard on beauty then try to teach us how to look more conventionnaly beautiful. It just discreditizes the concept of body neutrality and that's too bad :/

Just find a way to work your leg muscles, maybe with weights, and walk a decent amount everyday. Also your diet is important, theres no point in doing any of this on a mcdonalds diet lol - a slight calorie deficit is important!

9:07 I want to point out that muscle tone is the tension (firmness) in a muscle when relaxed. Many people _sort of_ think of it as being muscular or having muscle mass, but tone is different. There's also muscle mass, strength, vascularity and how much fat there is over a muscle which affect the appearance. So, when you condition a muscle you will increase its strength and tone and, most likely, its mass.

I understand your insecurity but I just want to ask that you please be really careful about this. I’m a pretty fit person involved in a sport that highly rewards being lean (in terms of performance), and so trust me when I say that while Zoe may be healthy, for MANY people legs as thin as hers are not attainable while also staying at a healthy body fat percentage, at least not long term. Even if you work out a specific body part a ton it’s not going to cause the fat to melt away from that body part specifically, what can actually happen is that muscle develops, and your body looses fat in general (what areas that specifically lose fat first is determine more by genetic than anything else) resulting in a slimmer more toned look. This may sound great all around but if your body is not inclined to losing leg weight you will have to develop a very low body fat percentage to get her appearance. Trust me when I say that I personally know people with her physique and it is extremely hard for most people (including incredibly active people) to attain it. Long term it can be very dangerous, especially if your body is not inclined to being super skinny. Does this mean you should give up hope, or worse develop a really unhealthy diet plan to get this skinny? No. What it means is that you need to be really careful where your goals lie. It’s super east to get sucked into really unhealthy practices all the while thinking that they are actually good for you. Aim for healthy toned legs, even if they aren’t as lean as Zoe’s are, I promise they will look great.
Also, if you are struggling with binge eating and feel sad about your body, please go get help.

It's fascinating how everyone wants something different. I have genetically bigger thighs, wider hips and smaller waist. And i go to the gym to build a fat ass, i like how my thighs spread when i sit, how there is 'material' to grab and that it moves, but i still have a good amount of muscle in them, cuz i like to cycle + im quad dominant. But yes this body was the standart of beauty and it appears that it's shifting again. Frankly I don't like the skinny bella hadid look on me or others, i like the body i have. It's just so frustrating that body trends do even exist, not to mention their very often change - which is so unrealistic for a human body- bc even if i wanted too 1000 times to have legs like Zoe, i could never achieve that bc my body just isn't built like that. In conclusion, im terrified how is society gonna push and pressure women to be skinny again + i subjectively iam attracted to slim thicc body type.

    • @courtneyjames5495
      @courtneyjames5495 Год назад +8

I’m with you on this. Based on what you described we have a similar body type. My thighs are always been bigger and wider set, and even when I’ve been skinnier, and I’ve been both skinnier and fatter. My thighs were still thicc just a skinnier thicc if that makes sense. It’s just my body type. Personally, I hate videos like this because they’re misleading. Like she mentions, you can’t spot target fat. You can target certain muscle groups when you work out, therein leading to muscle growth and definition in certain areas of the body. But you can’t spot target fat or change the composition of your body to look like someone else’s. getting skinnier legs was just a result of overall weight loss. And yes, she mentioned this in the video…but then goes on to basically say that if you use a resistance band, this might get you the same result… But it’s not gonna guarantee you will have legs like hers. Which she also admits… but still goes on to suggest otherwise. I don’t know this video was a little bit confusing and toxic. If she just said, my legs look the they do is just as a result of the overall weight loss, and this is the mindset that I adopted in order to lose weight. That would’ve been one thing, but she just keeps going back to a specific part of the body like it matters…

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. (Revelation 3:15-18) you cannot live for this world and not try to stop sinning (being cold) and only believing in God(hot) without turning from sin or sinning and saying God will forgive you after or not read the Bible, pray, worship/obeying God. Which is being a lukewarm. If we are neither cold or hot, God will spit us out his mouth.

Walking everywhere with resistance bands on is genius! I'm expecting my 2nd child to come in just a few weeks, and anxiously looking forward to getting my body back to shape. It's actually a lot more fun than people think it is, but I know it will be more difficult to find extra time for workouts with a toddler running around. Last time around, I tried using ankle weights as i jogged, and ended up injuring my ankle! A resistance band seems much less risky, and, with summer coming, I know I will be outside walking with the kiddos all day everyday!😊

Thank you so much for this video. I've been trying to find ways to lose weight that don't include starving myself, I tend to forget that calorie intake (eating) and calorie loss (exercise) are like a balanced scale; if you add too much on one side, you have to bring back the balance by adding it on the other side as well.

Zoe, I like your videos, and other big difference I see in your “older” photos is how you dress.
More recently you seem to really have a good understanding of what clothes and colors look better on your.
Also your hair seems to suit you better now than.
Would you talk more on this too?

This youtuber has litteraly snapped me out of my obsessive weight loss goals, an they were bad....I exercise when I want to I just do it till I wanna stop. I eat what I want an stop when im satified not when full. An this pace has made me alot happier. Granted I havent dropped anything but havent gained any weight either, Im just trying to get into a good rythem.

I am really wondering if you still get your period since you mentioned that your body fat percentage is really low. Cuz whenever I try to lose body fat and gain muscles, I lose my period until I gain all the fat back. Its a really huge struggle between being healthy, or even STARTING to work out.

I think it would be better to use leg weights, then resistance band (it's a little bit more low profile, cause you can hide it). I used to use a 2 Kg, 24/7 too :)
But take care with the impact, it could harm your knees... So DON'T run, jump, or take long walks with them. Just use at home... go fast up stairs and slow down stairs (the impact is bigger when going down because of gravity).

k i have anorexa just so yall know ts not about beng thin, we KNOW that this isnt sustainable for weight loss its called an addiction because starvation is euphoric. its called a mental illness because its irrational key word irrational fear of calories and food. No one who actually has anorexia thinks this is a good way to lose weight, its just our favorite feeling, our favorite high. Has nothing to do with weight, weight is a projection of a deeper core belief or mental problem, i.e. a deep feeling and core belief of being undeserving of food and joy. Thus, projected into anorexia.
