One of the great things about the studio Bob Dylan recording is that he begins the song speaking the words as if he were just reading them and then one word comes along and he infuses it with a little melody and then goes back to uttering, and there is just so much genius in that little detail
That was breathtaking-seen it for the first time today, Dylan's most post 60's expansive, movie landscape masterpiece that would have sat at the top of any late 60's album. Wonderful, never heard a cover of it until today-thanks!
This is so incredibly special!! tears of joy for most of it☺☺a lot of bob fans think i'm insane because i include brownsville girl in my top 5 bob songs!it's one of the most emotional songs i've ever had the pleasure to listen to,i thought i was gonna be sad that they had no backing singers, then came the chorus and these guys even recreated some of the queens of rhythm's magic lines☺☺☺i'd never heard anything from Bonnie Prince Billy before, that's all about to change☺huge thank you for posting!!
+David Ayer Hi david, thanks for the recommendation,i've just ordered the cd,i've been listening to nothing but the incredible john prine for 3 weeks☺☺☺ i will put that on hold for Mr oldham, i didn't even realise one of my all time favourite songs was his, johnny cash doing "I See a Darkness",with him providing backing to the master, (Wow),i'm certain that i'm not telling you something you don't already know☺ it's great to discover an artist that moves you so much☺☺have a good one☺
At this point, it might honestly be my most watched RUclips video ever. Sometimes I think a cover can be better than the original when the performers have such palpable love and admiration for the source material. This is one of those. Thank you, Will!
Great arrangement. The vocalist/story teller, like Michael Been preaching. The accordion, reminisce of Garth Hudson. Loved the background vocals, answering back A Dylan classic. I loved it!
oh there was this song I've heard one time.... I couldn't remember who's it was, or what it was called.... all I could remember was a Gregory peck, he was shot in the back.... so I googled it and I got here. I am so happy I got here, soul has been poured into this, I can feel it. I was worried that like other covers you would change it a little bit where it shouldn't have been changed, but you didn't mess it up at all... I am sure bob Dylan would love this vrs. this was great, thank you!
It's one of Bob's best songs, from one of his worst albums. Weird that. The original New Danville Girl is even better imo. Dylan's voice is operatic on that one. Kudos to BPB for tackling this one. Ambitious.

i must've watched this 20 times. incredible masterful performance of one of dylan's oddest masterpieces
Sorry it took 7 years to see this but it's a perfect comment to a brilliant cover of one of Dylan's "oddest masterpieces."
I think this might be one of the greatest covers ever
Motherlodge 11.11
Louisville, KY ...
For twelve minutes, maybe the most magical place on earth.
He sings the lines the right way. “In your busted down Ford and your platform heeeeeelllls”

bigtom1001 Big Tom. You are in good company. It was lou reed’s favorite dylan song
Life is long but this kind of performance comes once or twice. Beautiful.

there are those times when the heart's connections come together, and all is well...
surely this was one of those times!
pure magic
Simply marvelous! Bob Dylan's shaggy dog homage to the American Western movie recast as a Scottish folk ballad with an extraordinary power and grace.
