I know the feeling, man. I remember listening to songs like Oxford Comma and A-punk when I was just an 11 year old in 2008. This band has definitely grown and evolved with me
This guy is a genuine poet, their lyrics are such a rich blend of keen insights, always the tension between the good and bad in a world that is continually baffling.
You might say his entire career is trying to break free from a fraught religious upbringing, struggling because the greatest love and belonging he experienced in his youth are inextricable from that identity. Outside of the tribe, nothing of life or death is so simple and long-standing oneness with the good begins to give way to doubt and obsession.
This album is the VW at his finest. Ezra is it a poet, a lyricist, a musician that go really deep inside the meanings and creates beautiful songs with a large use of instruments. The violins and strings in his songs are always so moving and amazing that I was missing them. Can’t wait to see them in Dublin ❤
I've always been more of a casual VW listener until recently, so apologies to the real fans if this is basic VW lore! The crunchy Italian opera-style Rs (and potentially Ezra's diction while singing in general) have been keeping me awake lately! Has he ever talked about it? I would greatly appreciate if anyone pointed me to a source if he has. Cheers!
When I heard the snippet on the recent TV advert, I had to find out about this lovely song. Part of what did it for me was the way the lead singer pronounces 'Capricorn' and the lead-up to this part.
Took my kids to see them Friday night in SLC at Kilby Block Party festival and caught ‘the first evening performance of this song’. Beautiful, classic tune here. They are great live. Closest thing to seeing the Talking Heads live in 1984 that you can see now. New album is a wonderful work of art. Give it a listen if you haven’t yet.
I tried dedicating this song to someone quite publicly on X, in order to try and cheer him up especially after his kingdom came crashing down. I’m not sure if he got that, 🤔😁
I actually thought he might have been English and, in this song, I wondered if he was actually Liverpudlian and was maybe trying to sound like the Beatles. The violinist is great and of course, in one recording, the first part he plays is played on the piano - both work well.
I'm a Capricorn and the song is lovely but what's with "capicone, the year that you were bone" ? The guy's from NY/NJ. Same as me. No one says words like that. Sounds like a speech impediment, which hurts my ear a bit every time he does it. lol.
Ezra's voice is so unique and sounds exactly like the record.
couldn't agree with you more
They replicated the reverb on the record beautifully
Don’t know if you already know Amber Coffman the backing singer. Bc she’s another such unique voice that way too underrated.
She’s incredible
Great voice a liitle bit like a young Donavan luv this song so ethereal....
Man, that is some serious soundstage engineering, sound is so crisp and compressed. I love this stripped down version of Capricorn.
Sounds so clean and tight. Fantastic. 😊
The violinist brought me back to life 🤍 i cant believe my fav band is in their 40’s now 🥹
I know the feeling, man. I remember listening to songs like Oxford Comma and A-punk when I was just an 11 year old in 2008. This band has definitely grown and evolved with me
I'm gonna delete this comment from my mind. VW is immortal, not in their 40s lol.
That violin is beautiful. Really makes this song.
Self titled vibes were strong in this one ❣️
He's classically trained, for sure. lol
Woah I was not expecting to see Amber Coffman joining Vampire!
likely as a session or touring member.
I've never heard a lyric more comforting than "you don't have to try"
There's nothing to do but BE
So damn true. Its beautiful. The whole song is ❤😊
@DammitCrispin another awesome song regularly played in my house ❤😊
The first time I heard it I cried. I’ve been struggling so much with motherhood and that lyric touched me so much.
Ezra Koenig is perhaps the finest melodist of his generation
I think that is true bar none. I mean that’s what we all like about him right?

I’m liking this for my guys

pretty good session, but I do think ezra lifting baio via forklift would add to the energy of the live performance

Violinist snapped on that solo 😮
The three violin parts almost sounded like different instruments. Beautiful.
discovered this song through an advert on british tv for O2.absolutely love it,playin it over and over
That’s where I first heard it as well🏴🏴
Yep. Found it in an O2 cinema advert - courtesy of Shazam ☺️
Me, too.
Same here
And me !
This guy is a genuine poet, their lyrics are such a rich blend of keen insights, always the tension between the good and bad in a world that is continually baffling.
He is the current poet of rock/pop music, much like Simon and Garfunkel were of the 1960s.

Interesting, I thought of it that way.
Glad that somebody pointed this out. His lyrics are so different, it’s sublime.

This album has me listening to Vamp again like I used to
Well…that was dope. And for those who haven’t heard the whole album, it’s a banger. Could be my fav.
Very possibly the best vw album
It’s soaring in my rankings with every listen
This album gets better and better the more you listen to it, incredible.
right?? incredible album!!! i wish more people would be talking about it
Beautiful song and a beautiful live performance. Vampire Weekend never disappoints
So good to see Amber again ❤
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard
my boy always had them crunchy R’s
I've always been more of a casual VW listener until recently, so apologies to the real fans if this is basic VW lore!

Wow. This sounds incredible. Especially with the violin. I almost like that more than the piano.
When I heard the snippet on the recent TV advert, I had to find out about this lovely song. Part of what did it for me was the way the lead singer pronounces 'Capricorn' and the lead-up to this part.
I am so glad Amber is back, she was like the real star of the Dirty Projectors
Can't get better than this

This is THE song I want to be played at my funeral
Totally agree. This and no other 😊
How old are you. Just for some idea when
Id like to think that it was performing Moon Song with Karen O on the Oscars that made Ezra realize his voice harmonize well with a female voice! 😅
Oh my God! I'm loving this version!!!!
What a song. What an album.
wow i had the goosebumps, i think i've dissociated listening to this version. absolutely love it
Sounds like when rostam was in band with the classical
thats exactly what i thought. feels like Brynn from the first album
Silky, those vocals and lyrics are something. Great instrumentation, too.
This album is so good
That violin solo was sick
His voice , oh wow.
One of their absolute best
Is the female vocalist from Dirty Projectors?
yes! Amber Coffman
damn great of you to catch that!
This is amazing and so comforting! ❤
lucked out and found them when they came out in 2008. one of the greatest catalogs in music, imo.
Baio looking so fresh.
Beautiful track, and amazing record.
great look for baio here
that tambourine tho
please, this should be on Spotify!
How does she reach that high note?? Unbelievable
In a world full of so much ugly, finding a little beauty like this is so refreshing
La concentrazione Musicale del Musicista col tamburello... eccezionale. Bravissimi TUTTI!
This is so beautiful ❤
OK. That was awesome

Pretty song.
I love Ezra’s voice.
Nice version live. Love the call back to Diane Young.

Wow this is delicious...great version.

This new album is so great
Absolutely magical. 😊
I wonder if this is what the tour lineup will look like. Definitely gonna miss the FotB band
It's a really nice tune.
That violin solo sent my heart flying
Living in the moment
But before you know it
You’ll be looking to the past
Who’s the violinist? That guy plays the steel guitar on “Classical”😂❤
Ray Suen, such a great add for this tour!
To old for dying young, to young to live alone
Such a great line, right?
This sounds a lot cleaner than the 02 advert version ✅
La grace❤❤
Was the violinist previously in Mariachi El Bronx?
I actually thought he might have been English and, in this song, I wondered if he was actually Liverpudlian and was maybe trying to sound like the Beatles. The violinist is great and of course, in one recording, the first part he plays is played on the piano - both work well.
This is far better than the studio version , the music is too loud on the real version
Amazing
John Lennon vibes
the notes she was hitting was insane
what a lovely stripped down version
I’m a little less embarrassed by my Capricorn tattoo I got at 18. Thanks vamps.
❤this song very much
what Roland synth is that?
Wonderful
Wow!
cool
Who's on the backing vocals??
❤❤❤❤
Wait what, is this Amber Coffman?!?
Is he singing in an Italian accent? It's fantastic!
Who is the girl?
