Scottish ballad by the greatest of all songwriters-- the elusive "Trad." Also called "Fennario," "The Bonnie Lass of Fyvie" and the best (imo) GD version is 5/5/1977 New Haven. And there, sweet William is "buried in Lou'siana country-o." Nice version that will no doubt reach through the centuries to yet another audience of seekers.
The very best part of this was the end, as the emotional implications of the song came to full strength, driven by the beautifully understated performance that served to heighten the impact, and a bunch of ads for other videos popped up, obscuring half the screen. That's art all by itself.
I f’n need this released officially or I shall rip it and put it on every playlist whether it fits the theme or not. Your move Vampires Weekend/SiriusXM. I’ll even pay the $5 a month for a while if you do this for me.
Bravi! Col microfono "Biscotto" grazie alla Rivista "Internazionale" che mi ha fatto conoscere Vampire Weekend... Altro colpo azzeccato. Amazing! Stefano Mantovani-autore from Piedmont-Italy.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the tambourine guy is a little off on his beats at the beginning. It looks like the violin guy gives him an evil look about the 1 minute mark.
If you call yourself a Deadhead, please stop doing so The Dead put their own spin and interpretation on multiple tunes. . It's not "beloved Jerry Garcia music" the song has its origin centuries ago. I'm fairly certain Jerry's looking down with this big old smile on his face when he heard this. Your comment would elicit a big old frown.
Vampire weekend is no where near the same genre as the dead or as goose. Please stop trying to shove this band down our throat’s, no offense they’re awful lmao 😅

Played in the style of the Grateful Dead version.
Excellent
This is how The National performed it as well. Another great, very different take on the tune, I love it
Trad was from a time in songwriting that people did not make a fuss about it - they just sang songs.
AWESOME VERSION!!! Jerry and the boys would be proud!! All about the music !!!! The music never stopped!!!
Can't stop watching this and sharing it. Absolutely most beautiful dead related cover I've ever heard. I'm now a VW fan

je découvre par hasard c'est simplement génial duo de voix magique
So amazing
This should have a billion views
I can't get this out of my head.
Well done!
Me neither 😉

Beautiful, I would love to see a violin solo in there...
I proposed to my (now fiancé) after listening to this together!
That violin sounds sick like that
Totally agree, that violin ties it together. I don't even listen to this band but now I'm intrigued.
Haunting 😏
@@offgridmattyou certainly should start. Listen to the tune “sunflower” from their last album. Sounds like it was taken straight from a GD track list.
It’s like hyper Velvet Underground tinged.
@@justinjones9378 That is exactly what I was thinking!
This is one of my favorite covers ever…
awesome! great interpretation!
Fantastic Song 🎵
Love the Dead and love this cover!
One of my favorite dead songs
I would LOVE to be able to download this cover!!! Please Please Please do it for iTunes?!?!?!
This is magic. ✌️🧡
Perfect ⚡️⚡️
Beautiful ❤
Nice!
Good grief this is good
amo este new album!!
Brilliant
ftr, this song was made popular by the Dead but it’s really an old folk standard or “trad” as Jorma Kaukonen would say
SO GOOOD
hell yea
Real nice
Beautiful
Perfection 💨💨 🙌
Yayyy!!! Thank you
amazing
❤love this ❤
Jer would be proud. Fantastic 👍🏽👍🏽
Amazing...!!
Wonder full ❤🎉

My friend's dog is named Peggy-O and she's really cute
Mine is too
INSTAnT FAN!!!! Great rendition! 😊

Amazing! Stefano Mantovani-autore from Piedmont-Italy.
This could’ve easily been on the album.
Siiiiiiiiick!
VW is putting out the best music rn, bar none. They are on top. The new album will be the best of the year.
This is a cover
@@TheBandIsPlaying uhhh no shit dude
@@casey2173 I’m sorry you consider a cover with a shit load of autotune and reverb as putting out best music lol
@@TheBandIsPlaying why are you on this channel if you’re a hater?
Pretty Peggy-O. Give the man a chance.
Great cover. 👍
VW Dead cover - Did not see that coming
FOTB heavily influenced by GD
Ezra talks about them a lot on time crisis
I mean it's a looooooot less surprising than their relationship with lil Jon lol
I know see I was blind and should have in fact seen this coming
Jampire Weekend
How are both of these people 40 and yet could pass for mid-20's?
because they can afford good healthcare, skin and hair products, farm to table food.
Kids don’t smoke anymore.
They’re…vampires
For Ezra it’s the hair
Good genes
No mention of Amber Coffman in the description or title? Shame on you SiriusXM 😡
Literally why I came here to find out if it was her
Oh shit I thought she looked familiar
same was just looking for it everywhere...
Thanks i didnt know Who she was
One of the most underrated unique voices ever 😂
Amber is amazing
My mom goes by Peg and this song reminds me of her
🌝
⚡️ 🤘
👍
Amber Coffman too??? Great musician!
You nerds that was good
Who is the girl singin?
Amber Coffman
What no solos? Its not a dead song without solos
12/31/83 Jerry looked rough but the solo was as good as it gets. If you like this, gotta watch that.
A cover of a cover.
Is this a GD cover because of the streamlined lyrics? Shout out to "The Bonnie Lass o' Fyvie" versions.
what planet are we even on anymore
At least tunes like this make it a little more bearable 🤔

Amber Coffman is the best
Absolutely Beautiful. Not really a Grateful Dead cover. More of Grateful Dead cover of a traditional Scottish Ballad. Still great.
The dead cover this. Not a dead song
Please stop butchering the beloved Jerry garcia music 🙏🇺🇸

Gatekeeper bullshit the dead fans are famous for. Great job.
I agree. It sucks so bad, but I'm still going to save it. I can't help myself.
@@jsen33Jack White said something similar about Seven Nation Army. He no longer owns it. It is a song for the people for generations to come.
Wow that sucked. Never like these posers and still don't. Also not a GD song perse. Scottish folk song. I think Dylan did a version too.
Corny

Not good. Also it's a traditional, not a cover.
So fucking bad….
Nah it’s goated
That was cool.
